Wordpress duplicate pages

I am using Wordpress
and getting duplicate content Crawler error for following two pages
http://edustars.yourstory.in/tag/edupristine/
http://edustars.yourstory.in/tag/education-startups/
These two are tags which take you to the same page.
All the other tags/categories which take you to the same page or have same title are also throwing errors, how do i fix it?

Thank You

Hi Bhanu,
Domisol is correct. NoFollow is talked about more frequently, but I'm referring to what is called NoIndex. Using NoIndex tells Google not to show that page in the search results. In contrast, NoFollow tells Google not to pass value through all or some of the links on a page.
I also agree with Domisol that NoFollow should not be used along with NoIndex in this situation. Allowing the link value to flow freely throughout the site and selectively choosing to remove the tag pages is a better solution. Doing this will help index more pages with more obscure tags, too.
To NoIndex your tag pages, go to the Indexation page under the SEO options. Under Indexation Rules, select "Subpages of Archives and taxonomies," "Tag Archives," and "Date-based Archives." If you're not doing anything special with the Author pages or only have one author, go ahead and select that, too. I would prefer to see you add unique content to the Category page before you NoIndex it, but that one could arguably go both ways.

Hi Bhamu,
we are not talking about no follow here. We are talking about no index.
So you should set to no index all archive pages of Wordpress, meaning categories, author and tags, basically all the pages that are collections of other pages (or posts).
Setting those archive pages to no follow would be a mistake, because you'd miss the link juice propagation to all the pages of your site.
Hope it helps,
DoMiSol

Yes i am using Yoast's SEO Plugin.
Can you please suggest what all should be set to no follow other then tag?
-
I agree with Kane, Also, SEOmoz have the good guide regarding this http://www.seomoz.org/blog/setup-wordpress-for-seo-success check this out and you will have a clear idea of what to do when you stuck with this situation.
-
You're getting the error because, in essence, those pages are identical.
You should set your tag pages to noindex. It looks like you already have Yoast's SEO plugin installed - go into the settings and you should find it as an option.
That may or may not make the SEOMoz campaign errors go away, but it fixes the issue from an SEO perspective.

Post vs page in Wordpress?
Hello there, I have a Wordpress site and would like to know if it is better to have 600 posts or 600 pages in terms of efficiency in the site. I would like to publish the content as pages, as I can have subapges,etc... and keep the path: www.website.com/page/subpage1... in terms of good SEO. This structure of using pages rahter than posts allow me to keep the path as stated above (with a category/post path I could not manage in this sense as a pile of articles is displayed although the path category/post in terms of SEO I understand would be good too). Thank you very much for your thoughts here as I would go for a page structure. Antonio

132 pages reported as having Duplicate Page Content but I'm not sure where to go to fix the problems?
I am seeing “Duplicate Page Content” coming up in our
Technical SEO | | danatanseo
reports on SEOMOZ.org Here’s an example: http://www.ccisolutions.com/StoreFront/product/williams-sound-ppa-r35-e http://www.ccisolutions.com/StoreFront/product/aphex-230-master-voice-channel-processor http://www.ccisolutions.com/StoreFront/product/AT-AE4100.prod These three pages are for completely unrelated products.
They are returning “200” status codes, but are being identified as having
duplicate page content. It appears these are all going to the home page, but it’s
an odd version of the home page because there’s no title. I would understand if these pages 301-redirected to the home page if they were obsolete products, but it's not a 301-redirect. The referring page is
listed as: http://www.ccisolutions.com/StoreFront/category/cd-duplicators None of the 3 links in question appear anywhere on that page. It's puzzling. We have 132 of these. Can anyone help me figure out
why this is happening and how best to fix it? Thanks!0 -
Page not Accesible for crawler in on-page report
Hi All, We started using SEOMoz this week and ran into an issue regarding the crawler access in the on-page report module. The attached screen shot shows that the HTTP status is 200 but SEOMoz still says that the page is not accessible for crawlers. What could this be? Page in question

Does duplicate content on word press work against the site rank? (not page rank)
I noticed in the crawl that there seems to be some duplicate content with my word press blog. I installed a seo plugin, Yoast's wordpress seo plugin, and set it to keep from crawling the archives. This might solve the problem but my main question is can the blog drag my site down?

Catch 22 on duplicate page titles
Hi all, I'm quite new to the SEO space so I apologise if all the information below isn't technically perfect. I ran the SEOmoz pro tool for the first time a month ago (fantastic tool). It picked up a wealth of errors on our site that we are now working on. the problem: we use dynamic pages to display job listings pulled from our database that have picked up many duplicate page titles and content. For example: _Landing page: _http://www.arm.co.uk/jobs/it-contract-jobs/sec=itcontractjobs _Page 2: _http://www.arm.co.uk/jobs/1/-/-/2/itcontractjobs-/9999/2 _Page 3: _http://www.arm.co.uk/jobs/1/-/-/2/itcontractjobs-/9999/3 Following the results of the Moz tool we have now 'no indexed' and 'no followed' the dynamic pages and the errors have dramatically dropped, great! However, on reflection we generate quite a lot of traffic to individual job's listed on our website. By no following the pages we have restricted passing on any 'juice' to these pages, and by no indexing we may be taking them out of Googles index completely. These dynamic pages and individual job listings do generate a lot of traffic to our website via organic search. We do submit the site index to Google that should index the individual jobs that way. So, the question is (I hope this is making sense), are the gains of reducing errors picked up in the moz tool (to improve the overall site performance) likely to outweigh the traffic generated on these dynamically generated pages by being indexed and followed by Google. Ultimately we would like the static landing pages to retain a stronger page rank. Any guidance is very much appreciated. Best Regards,

If you only want your home page to rank, can you use rel="canonical" on all your other pages?
If you have a lot of pages with 1 or 2 inbound links, what would be the effect of using rel="canonical" to point all those pages to the home page? Would it boost the rankings of the home page? As I understand it, your long-tail keyword traffic would start landing on the home page instead of finding what they were looking for. That would be bad, but might be worth it.

Htm vs. aspx page extensions & duplicate content
We have a client whose site is fairly new. There isn't much in the way of SEO results so far. In their content management system they have implemented friendly URLs and changed the extensions from aspx to htm. Now the htm pages are all indexed in Google but when I run a campaign report in SEOmoz it shows that all pages are duplicated with there being both htm and aspx pages for each page. Should we do 301 redirects from the aspx pages to the htm pages? Or would we be safe by removing the htm pages and letting Google reindex the site with the aspx page extensions? Does Google have any kind of preference as to what the page extensions are as long as the URLs include keywords?
