Looking for an opinion on Buildmyrank.com

I am looking to sign up for 20-50 links per month. Does anyone have an opinion negatively or positively on this service?
Thanks in advance for your help!

I may be one of the few here on the moz that actually use BMR. I will probably be looked down upon by the moz community but I will give you my honest opinion.
BMR requires unique content. Yes, it only requires 150 words to get a link AND you can control the anchor text, but what is twitter? Twitter is a great example of a way that you can use a service for good or evil. I try to create every BMR article like it is a real article going to be read by an actual person (though I am aware it probably won't be).
I will be the first to admit that people abuse BMR, just like they abuse twitter. Spamming isn't a tool, it is a strategy.
All that being said, BMR is expensive, time consuming and NOT an anchor in any realistic strategy. If you are thinking more than 25% (random number I pulled from thin air) of your time and/or links are going to be spent using BMR, I wouldn't bother.
The cost is another issue. I am debating whether it is really worth the money. I like using the service along side other more "white hat" techniques but it really can be expensive both in time and in money.
It would probably take you 30min to an hour to write 5 BMR posts. Sure you can control the anchor text and you could even get a high PR from the links, but you would probably be better off spending that time getting a guest post. You still control the anchor (in most cases) and you can even control the PR (BMR randomly assigns you). PLUS if you are guest posting you are getting traffic from it and people are actually seeing your stuff. 5 BMR posts would be 750 words, that could also just be one awesome post with links being built off your post while you sleep!
In summary (because I am ranting), I use it, but never at the cost of other link building strategies like guest posting or just lurking my competition and finding out how they got their links.
Stay away from UAW, AMR, Scrapebox Blasts, SeNukeX, Bookmarking Demon etc. They are ridiculously expensive, work only in super low competition keywords (which you could rank for faster using guest posting or manual article submissions) and nowadays they only work to strengthen link wheels (which is another hot topic of debate around the forums).
So, hopefully I didn't confuse you too badly, but if you have any questions about BMR the service itself let me know.

Hi Brian,
In a nutshell, what you'll hear most here is to build content that people want to link to, build content that is valuable to your readers/customers, do natural outreach, etc. We have a good article on linkbuilding on SEOmoz, I just don't have it at my fingertips at the moment and am on my way out for the day. In the meantime, you can check out the beginner's guide to SEO section on linkbuilding at http://www.seomoz.org/beginners-guide-to-seo/growing-popularity-and-links to get an idea of what I'm talking about.

I respect your opinion on this matter and thank you for pointing me towards these threads. It seems to me that everyone here is quick to tell me the reasons why I shouldn't be doing something, however rarely, if ever, have people give me any insight as to how I could be doing something the "correct" way.

Hi Brian,
BuildMyRank has been discussed on the SEOmoz Q&A before, and usually not in the most positive manner, mainly because of the way people lean here, but some have had success. I personally have reservations about using this type of service. Here's a few links to other Q&A threads that can show you the discussion that's already taken place to help you out a little. a search on google for [site:seomoz.org buildmyrank] will show several threads.

In looking at the FAQ for BMR, I see that they randomly put your article on a site and you can have one link per 150 words, with the minimum article being 150 words. I envision sites with a bunch of very short (or very link-stuffed) posts on all kinds of subjects. That's not the type of backlink strategy I would want for my own site, I know that much.

Should we show(to google) different city pages on our website which look like home page as one page or different? If yes then how?
On our website, we show events from different cities. We have made different URL's for each city like www.townscript.com/mumbai, www.townscript.com/delhi. But the page of all the cities looks similar, only the events change on those different city pages. Even our home URL www.townscript.com, shows the visitor the city which he visited last time on our website(initially we show everyone Mumbai, visitor needs to choose his city then) For every page visit, we save the last visited page of a particular IP address and next time when he visits our website www.townscript.com, we show him that city only which he visited last time. Now, we feel as the content of home page, and city pages is similar. Should we show these pages as one page i.e. Townscript.com to Google? Can we do that by rel="canonical" ? Please help me! As I think all of these pages are competing with each other.

Changing from .net TLD to .com TLD
I have a Fortune 50 serving client that has for a few years been operating their site on a .net domain since the .com was not available. They have just aquired the .com domain for their company name that was unavailable before. However, it was not a transfer of a live domain. In whois it is showing as brand new and "unseasoned" For now I have recommended that they just perm forward the .com to the .net and leave the .net as the TLD But I am sure they want to in the future make the switch. What would my best course of action be as the SEO consultant?

It appears that Googlebot Mobile will look for mobile redirects from the desktop site, but still use the SEO from the desktop site.
Is the above statement correct? I've read that its better to have different SEO titles & descriptions for mobile sites as users search differently on mobile devices. I've also read it's good to link build, keep text content on mobile sites etc to get the mobile site to rank. If I choose to not have titles & descriptions on my mobile site will Google just rank our desktop version & then redirect a user on a mobile device to our mobile site or should I be adding in titles & descriptions into the mobile site? Thanks so much for any help!

Looking for guidance on transferring and incorporating content from a purchased website into an existing website
One of my client’s recently purchased a competitor’s website, and we would like to transfer the content from the competitor’s website (http://www.wilson-hardness.com) to our client’s existing website (http://www.buehler.com); at the same time we want to minimize loss in keyword rankings the competitor’s website has established. The two websites work in similar fields: one measures and offers products in scientific measurement and analysis of various materials. The other website offers products that are in similar field: hardness testing equipment. Looking for suggestions on how to proceed or recommended reading on the topic. I’ve tried to do research, but haven’t found anything, so I’m not sure what to topic-names to search. Any guidance would be appreciated.

Redirect posts from a wordpress.com blog over to a self-hosted blog
Hi All I started a wordpress.com blog with a few posts on it, and these have been shared using social media so links to these exist on Facebook and Twitter. I've decided that its going to be better and more effective to have the blog on my primary domain. How would I setup a redirect from the wordpress.com blog to my self hosted blog? Normally I'd write a .htaccess file but I'm unable to do that over at wordpress.com. I can't even see an option to install plugins, otherwise I would have used the "Redirector" plugin.
