Business/Personal Blog Duplicate Content
-
Quick Question. I am in the process of launching a new website for my IT business which will include a blog. I also want to start up my personal blog again.
I want to publish some blog posts to both my business and personal blogs but I don't want to have any duplicate content issues. I am not concerned with building the SERPs of my personal blog but I am very focused on the business blog/site.
I am looking for some ideas of how I can publish content to both sites without getting hurt by duplicate content. Again, I am not concerned with building up the placement of my personal site but I do want to have a strong personal site that helps build my name.
Any help on this would be great.
Thanks!

Thanks guys. I was thinking about using the rel canonical tag so I think I will go that way. I would love to be able to write unique content for each blog but I know it's just not realistic with my time constraints.
Thanks again for the help.

I think the most important factor is RELEVANCE. It'll give you good links along the time, and visit, so you can increase your Domain Authority too.
SEO work must be a long time work to be a good work. And create new relevant content is the key to open the gates of seo heaven.

you are right but at time writing two different unique pieces of content takes too much time my suggestion was considering the time factor!
-
I assume in your bussiness blog you're going to post only content about your bussiness and in your personal blog, bussiness post and maybe personal interests.
In my opinion, create different RELEVANT content is always the best option, because Google loves relevant content.
If you want only post one time and put it on both blogs, use the rel canonical atribute to explain google the most important blog, but i don't think this is a good option.

I thought of it too but i don't think this will be a friendly option as he said some of the posts should be on both sites not all! and using RSS for some posts might need alteration in the business blog
-
Or try RSS into your personal site:-)

Ok, this is find there are two ways of doing it see what sounds easy to you…
- Why not create two content on the same topic (re warding) the concept of the blog post is same but they will not be duplicated. Personally if you ask me I will not prefer this way as it’s quite lousy…
- The other way is smarter way… As you are not focused on your personal blog for SERPs so update the same content on both blog but on your personal blog set the canonical URL of your business blog (post URL) and this way Google get to know that what the original version of the content is and will index and act accordingly.

Duplicate Content and Subdirectories
Hi there and thank you in advance for your help! I'm seeking guidance on how to structure a resources directory (white papers, webinars, etc.) while avoiding duplicate content penalties. If you go to /resources on our site, there is filter function. If you filter for webinars, the URL becomes /resources/?type=webinar We didn't want that dynamic URL to be the primary URL for webinars, so we created a new page with the URL /resources/webinar that lists all of our webinars and includes a featured webinar up top. However, the same webinar titles now appear on the /resources page and the /resources/webinar page. Will that cause duplicate content issues? P.S. Not sure if it matters, but we also changed the URLs for the individual resource pages to include the resource type. For example, one of our webinar URLs is /resources/webinar/forecasting-your-revenue Thank you!

Duplicate Content
Hello guys, After fixing the rel tag on similar pages on the site I thought that duplicate content issue were resolved. I checked HTML Improvements on GWT and instead of going down as I expected, it went up. The duplicate issues affect identical product pages which differ from each other just for one detail, let's say length or colour. I could write different meta tags as the duplicate is the meta description, and I did it for some products but still didn't have any effects and they are still showing as duplicates. What would the problem be? Cheers

How to avoid duplicate content penalty when our content is posted on other sites too ?
For recruitment company sites, their job ads are posted muliple times on thier own sites and even on other sites too. These are the same ads (job description is same) posted on diff. sites. How do we avoid duplicate content penalty in this case?

/forum/ or /hookah-forum/
I'm building a new website on Hookah.org. It will have a forum and blog. Should I put them in Hookah.org/hookah-forum/ and Hookah.com/hookah-blog/ or Hookah.org/forum and Hookah.org/blog I think /forum/ and /blog/ are easier for users but am not sure how much adding the word hookah helps with SEO.

What's the best way to eliminate duplicate page content caused by blog archives?
I (obviously) can't delete the archived pages regardless of how much traffic they do/don't receive. Would you recommend a meta robot or robot.txt file? I'm not sure I'll have access to the root directory so I could be stuck with utilizing a meta robot, correct? Any other suggestions to alleviate this pesky duplicate page content issue?

Duplicate Content
Hi - We are due to launch a .com version of our site, with the ability to put prices into local currency, whereas our .co.uk site will be solely £. If the content on both the .com and .co.uk sites is the same (at product level mainly), will we be penalised? What is the best way to get around this?

Avoiding duplicate content/same pages
hi I have been checking through all the Q and A but i i'm still not sure how you get http://www.domain.co.uk/index.html to be just http://www.domain.co.uk/? Do you add canonical to the index page to point to the page you prefer and then add a 301 redirect? thanks
