Should I promote each section of my website
-
Hi, i have a magazine website and i have been heavily promoting the main page of the site thinking that all the work i am doing for the main page which includes links and so on would then pass onto the rest of my site but i have a feeling this is not correct.
Can anyone let me know if i should be concentrating on each section of the site and also on my articles should i be promoting these articles or let the search engines pick them up.
I already use facebook and twitter to promote new articles but i would like to know if i should be doing more than this

It really depends on how your site is organized. One of my business websites has a similar issue. This is how I organized it, and it worked very well. I ranked well for both the homepage and the section pages.
For instance if you have sections like a traditional magazine, i.e. News, Business, Arts, Lifestyle, etc., you need to setup your site architecture so that you have a main page for each section. Your section main pages should have brief intros that use keywords to describe the section. Keep the section page intro short enough that the content shows above the fold with a medium length article stub. You frontpage promotes the magazine and has linked H2 headers for each section, with very brief - 3-5 line - article stubs for the new content.
If users click the story, they go straight to the story. If users click the H2 Header, they go to the main page for a section. The section main page has longer stubs for your new content. My urls look like this www.magazine.com => /lifestyle => /lifestyle/story.
This makes it easier to deep link to individual sections. Your content management system can be set so that new articles appear on the section main page and under the section headers on the homepage. This way it is user friendly, your site architecture is clear to search engines, and you are promoting fresh content.

You are correct that link juice will pass through your site as long as your site architecture is correctly setup. However, you can not rely completely on this alone. What you have been doing with social media is good and will help but think about trying to get your tweets retweeted by others, and your facebook posts shared by others. This will also help.
More importantly, you should be creating good quality articles that attract links from others. If your articles contain really interesting content and you have enough exposure through social media, then you should naturally attract links.
Adam.

Huge uptick in 404s on new website
I just launched a new website, and I see that the 404s shot up hugely in Google Webmaster Tools right during the launch. We went from Drupal to WordPress, but I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on whether these 404s represent a crisis, or potentially something harmless? There has been no noticeable SEO downtick in terms of keywords or queries during the same period... Thanks for any thoughts. Screenshot-2015-05-19-13.58.55.png

How to display the full structure of website on Google serps
I have been searching around but unable to gather information as to how we can control or list top pages of a website on Google's first page , i.e. if we type seomoz in google , we can see the main listing with 6 subdomain listings , which link to Blog , Seo tool , Beginner Seo guide , Learn Seo , Pricing & Plans and login My question is can we control these listings i.e. what to display and what not , and if yes how can we make this type of visibility on first page , by using html or xml sitemaps or theirs something mostly websites are missing. Cause this type of data is coming up for very less websites and mostly websites are with single urls. c43Ki.jpg

Database Driven Websites: Crawling and Indexing Issues
Hi all - I'm working on an SEO project, dealing with my first database-driven website that is built on a custom CMS. Almost all of the pages are created by the admin user in the CMS, pulling info from a database. What are the best practices here regarding SEO? I know that overall static is good, and as much static as possible is best, but how does Google treat a site like this? For instance, lets say the user creates a new page in the CMS, and then posts it live. The page is rendered and navigable, after putting together the user-inputed info (the content on the page) and the info pulled from the database (like info pulled out to create the Title tag and H1 tags, etc). Is this page now going to be crawled successfully and indexed as a static page in Google's eyes, and thus ok to start working on rank for, etc? Any help is appreciated - thanks!

Why is my website banned?
IMy website is Costume Machine at www.costumemachine.com . My site has been banned for 1 year now. I have requested that google reconsider my site 3 times without luck. The site is dynamic and basically pulls in feeds from affiliate sites. We have added over 1,500 pages of original content. The site has been running great since 2008 without any penalties. I don't think I got hit with any linking penalty. I cleaned up all questionable links last November when the penalty hit. Am I being hit with a "thin" site penalty? If that is the issue what is the best way to fix the problem?

SeoMoz robot is not able to crawl my website.
Hi, SeoMoz robot crawls only two web pages of my website. I contacts seomoz team and they told me that the problem is because of Javascript use. What is the solution to this? Should I contact my webdesign company and ask them to remove Javascript code?
