Thank you in advance
-
I will do this also.
Thank you.

Irving, I am new at SEO making me a newbie.. The website was changed completely from the old site, removing external links, cleaning the code and changing the design.
Thanks for your response, i will use the canonical tags you mention.

Also, your htaccess file can be updated to 301 all slashes to non-slashes
RewriteRule ^([^/]+/)*([^/.]+).html/ http://www.mydomain.com/$2.html [R=301,L]
-
Did you change your URL or just redid your site? Redoing your site may not undo all penalties.
I strongly advise you to use canonical tags to avoid duplicate pages like the following.
http://www.instant-radio-code.co.uk/index.php and http://www.instant-radio-code.co.uk
http://www.instant-radio-code.co.uk/alpine-radio-codes and http://www.instant-radio-code.co.uk/alpine-radio-codes/
Please clue me in, your website doesn't look like a Newbie created it, so why is the subject line on this post labeled Newbie? Please write more accurate subject lines.
Good luck on your site and I hope this helps you out! and if it does please mark answered

Does including your site in Google News (and Google) Alerts helps with SEO?
Based on the following article http://homebusiness.about.com/od/yourbusinesswebsite/a/google-alerts.htm in order to check if you are included you need to run site:domain.com and click the news search tab. If you are not there then... I ran the test on MOZ and got no results which surprised me. Next step according to :https://support.google.com/news/publisher/answer/40787?hl=en#ts=3179198 is to submit your site for inclusion. Should I? Will it help? P.S.

What makes a site appear in Google Alerts? And does it mean anything?
Hi All, I recently started using Google Alerts more and more and while sites I support never appear there (not surprising) I recently noticed few very poor and low quality sites that do. This site for example appears quite a bit in its niche. So to my questions... What makes a site appear in Google Alerts? And does it mean anything? Thanks

.htaccess newby
Sorry to ask a really dumb question. I want to sort out a load of old 404 errors. I've exported the list of URL and I'm more than happy to go through that and work out what needs to go where. After that my only option at the moment is to use the re-direct function in my WordPress install and do all the work manually. There are loads to do so I want to be able to upload all the re-directs. I know I need to create a htaccess file and upload it. I know where to upload it. This is where I get nervous. I need to get this file right. Is there a really obvious idiots file which I can use and then save as the correct file type? I've got all the URLs in a CSV at the moment. Sorry for being a bit thick. Hope you can help.

ASPX Newbie
Hey folks, I am about to dive into my first ASPX project. Nearly every link on the home page results in a pop-up window displaying the related page content. Despite this quirky approach to IA and UX... a quick crawl test reveals good accessibility with very few Client Errors and no Server Errors. Questions (to those with ASPX experience, please): 1.) In dealing with aspx, is there anything I paying particular attention to? 2.) Are redirects handled with htaccess? 3.) Since the crawl test pulled the urls and meta descriptions related to the aforementioned "pop-up" pages - is it safe to assume the content in the pop-up pages is also being accessed by the search bots? Thanks for your input - much appreciated?

Google alerts for products and categories?
I get daily Google alerts for our site and a competitor's site. I have noticed that I am getting multiple alerts a day from Google about products and product categories on the competitor's site. Every now and then there's an actual alert for a linking blog post or something else. How is Google noticing new product on this site but has never done the same for ours? Is there some kind of strategy involved here that I don't know about? The site is http://bit.ly/Q0o2ob

Newbie question about long tail keywords
I am a little confused as to how search engines see and rank keywords. Let me explain. If I have a fairly long tail keyword such as "buy natural progesterone cream uk" will the search engine also break this up into smaller parts such as "buy natural progesterone uk"," buy progesterone cream uk", "natural progesterone uk" and so on or will it only see the words that are next to each other like "progesterone cream uk". Also where does cannibalization come into this? I really appreciate any help I can get with this that furthers my understanding. Thanks.

Can some brilliant mozzer out there teach a moron/newbie like me how to 301 redirect several URL's I have?
Okay - I am a supermodel. I look pretty. My legs are amazing. My cheekbones are high. But when it comes to 301 redirects I am the ugliest supermodel on the block. Crap, here is the truth: I am not even a supermodel. I am just a middle-aged, goofy looking dude who is a newbie to fixing websites. I have inherited several sites from a friend and I have been helping by creating solid contextual links internally and externally for a while. But, when Roger the wondrous SEOMoz robot talks to me, he says, "oops, it looks like your foolish freak self has a site that has both a www. and a non-www, which can create competition for yourself." What do I do when he says that? I just whisper a "thank-you" but gently press the skip this step button and go on with my life because I do not know how to make my non-www.'s redirect into the www. sites... Now, I have sort of asked this question on the site before, but I was answered by someone who does not understand my level of ignorance. any use of the word canonical or just put this lfwjkshj.htp/php inside the left ear of your mom, does not tell me anything so, is there any willing and kind soul who can walk me through redirecting several of my sites to their proper home - kind of like Carl Chubbs Weathers did for Happy Gilmore in that Academy Award winning classic? Thanks for the help in advance best, dumbhead
