Press Release in 3 PR6 Sites against yahoo submission
-
Hi - i have shortlisted 3 pr news sites - prlog.org, i-newswire.com, 24-7pressrelease.com . All 3 have pr6 and have high scores.
Have 2 queries -
a) Is it worth to put backlinks - by taking a paid press release option and spend around 200$ - sole intent is to generate backlinks
b) is the combination effect of these 3 pr sites better than stand alone yahoo direct submission - as have limited budget can do either of them
thnx

Gagan,
Yeah, duplicate content can diminish link benefits. Check out this video from Wil Reynolds about #RCS: http://www.seerinteractive.com/blog/seomoz-meetup-rapid-fire-link-building-strategies
As for the Yahoo Directory, in my experience I haven't seen any boost in rankings for websites that had this link. Vice versa... I haven't seen a drop off in rankings when the link was taken down.
Focus on QUALITY, not quantity and you'll win in the SERPS.

does a duplicate content by other sites - due to release distribution will take away the link benefit
-
have even checked that way for yahoo directory - for some competition sites - they either dont have pr or have low pr of 1 or 2 where they are listed
pl suggest - am i missing something here with these pr news sites or is yahoo directory still a good way

My honest take is that if you're doing press releases for the sole intent of getting backlinks, it's not a good way to go. Three reasons...
- You're likely going to create a lot of duplicate content with these press releases.
- If the "news" is not newsworthy, it's not going to be picked up by reputable organizations anyway.
- The sites you mentioned may have a PR6 for their home page but the page your press release will be on won't be.
I hope this helps.

Should m-dot sites be indexed at all
I have a client with a site with a m-dot mobile version. They will move it to a responsive site sometime next year but in meanwhile I have a massive doubt. This m-dot site has some 30k indexed pages in Google. Each of this page is bidirectionally linked to the www. version (rel="alternate on the www, rel canonical on the m-dot) There is no noindex on the m-dot site, so I understand that Google might decide to index the m-dot pages regardless of the canonical to the www site. But my doubts stays: is it a bad thing that both the version are indexed? Is this having a negative impact on the crawling budget? Or risking some other bad consequence? and how is the mobile-first going to impact on this? Thanks

Combining multiple HTTPS sites
Hi there! I am currently combining several sites (corporate brochure site and ecommerce site) for a client into one central website. All of the content and structure on the new site is set up and relevant pages have 301 redirects ready. My main concern is that the old .co.uk website has an SSL certificate and will be pointing to the new pages on the new .com website (with new SSL in place). Will this cause connection privacy issues? And if so, what's the best way to resolve them? Many thanks!

On-Site Optimization Tips for Job site?
I am working on a job site that only ranks well for the homepage with very low ranking internal pages. My job pages do not rank what so ever and are database driven and often times turn to 404 pages after the job has been filled. The job pages have to no content either. Anybody have any technical on-site recommendations for a job site I am working on especially regarding my internal pages? (Cross Country Allied.com) Any help would be much appreciated.

When is it worth re-structuring your site?
I recently started working on a site that is 8 years old and the currently URLs/ site structure is not SEO friendly. We are concerned that in re-structuring the site, we may loose our rankings. Has anyone ever completely re-structured their site? Was it worth it?

My current website www.energyacuity.com has had most pages indexed for more than a year. However, I tried cache a few of the pages, and it looks the only one that is now indexed by Goggle is the homepage. Any thoughts on why this is happening?
