Does capliazations in url effect ranking?
-
I've read the info about how Twitter's bad seo effects ability to rank well for our twitter profile in some cases.
I've been unsuccessful at getting my twitter profile to rank higher than it does, even though all metrics on OSE seem to indicate that it should.
I've been linking to the non !#, non https, and non www, version of my profile, however it still is ranking as high as I'd like. I noticed today that the link URL has each letter of my name capitalized. I'm almost certain when I link to it I write out the name in all lower case.
I was curious if you think this has any effect on it ranking? I'm wondering what the best steps would be moving forward. I could start linking to the url showing up in google (with upper case letters in the url) or I could go into my twitter profile and change my name to all lowercase and see if that changes the url in google, thus fixing all of the other backlinks to the profile. (At least I think it would.)
What's everyone's thoughts on this? Thanks!

Intresting.
I know that searching for upper case and lower case keywords do bring up different results. But that is keywords, I wasn't sure how url's were effected by upper / lower case.

My real life experience has shown me that the uppercase and lowercase have no effect on ranking. However, given a choice, i would go with all lowercase as that seems to be the standard.

How do I build author rank on Google+ ?
I have a website for one of my businesses at www.trustworthycare.com that we've been building upon for many years. On that site we have a lot of content and we publish at least two blog articles each week with solid content that is relevant to members of the market that the business wants to attract as customers. I have a second website for a new business at www.ageassistance.com that is in the same market but which operates in a different manner. That second business is very new. It also publishes two articles per week. Both sites name me as the author and I have created a Google+ page for myself. The sites identify me as the author for google+ author purposes. Both businesses also have google+ pages. The weekly articles are being pushed out to the respective Google+ business pages as well as to my own Google+ page. I think I've got all the basics established for us to take advantage of google+ for SEO purposes, then. Is that correct? If so, what do we do next? What matters? Getting others to +1 my posts? On which Google+ page, mine or the businesses? Getting others to share my posts? If so, is it better to get them shared from my personal page, or from the businesses' pages? Thanks!

Should I adopt Google Plus Custom URLs?
Google Plus have just released Custom URLs, see here So instead of the messy https://plus.google.com/b/012345679 you can have http://www.google.com/+{yourbrandname}. This would be much better for memorizing. But any opinions on added or future perceived SEO benefit?

Do facebook shares of deep links help the whole domain rank better?
What i mean by this is if we were to obtain 10-20 facebook shares for 10 different deep links like these: http://domain.com/deep-page/page-one

http://domain.com/deep-page/page-two
http://domain.com/deep-page/page-three
http://domain.com/deep-page/page-four
... Would that help any of these rank better:
http://domain.com
http://domain.com/product1
http://domain.com/product2
etc... Extrapolating, does the same count for Twitter, Google+, etc?0 -
Google+ and its effects on SERPs
Hi all, With the recent launch of Google+ I've looked into the possible effects of +1'ing sites and whether or not it has a direct effect on other people with whom I'm connected within Google+. So far I cannot see any direct correlation, however I running a bigger/wider experiement with more people to get a definitive answer. What does scare me as an SEO, is that Google+ users will (most likely) use Google search whilst they are logged in, which, as we know personalises results based on a myriad of suspected metrics such as previous visits, personal +1, etc... How is this going to effect the SEO world if/when a Google+ attracts more users. Experienced this first hand when a client called me to congratulate a jump from position 9 on Google to first position over the weekend, which when I checked, the website hadn't shifted, the client was logged into her Google account due to the fact she had been playing with plus. Thoughts? Cheers Aran

Impact of URL shorteners in Twitter feeds
Hello, Will use of URL shorteners [bit.ly/tiny.cc or equivalent] in Twitter feeds impact the rankings of a target pages? As I understand it Twiitter links are automatically generated as nofollows so I am assuming the published link is irrelevant. Is this still the case? If we do continue to use URL shortereners should we look at branded URL-shorteners to provide link context? Thanks.
