Preferred domain can't set in Web master Tool
-
I have put my domain name as xxxxxtours.com without www in web master tool. i have redirect to www version using htaccess file .So I wanna put Preferred domain "Display urls as www.xxxxtours.com .When trying it give error as attached image.but i have verified site the .waiting for expert help .

Webmaster Tools considers the www and non-www versions of your website to be 2 different sites, Chandana. What that error is telling you is that you can't use your xxxxxtours.com account to set the www version until you've proven you're also verified for the Webmaster Tools account for the www version.
So in your Webmaster Tools main page, click the big red button for Create Site and then create a new site for www.xxxtours.com as well. Once you've verified it, you'll be able to set www as the preferred domain in both sites' configuration.
I know it seems strange, but GWT considers each of those to be two totally separate sites, so you have to prove you have authority for both before you can use one to point to the other.

Thank you for ur reply .I used meta tags and html file verification methods .see attached image ,

You said you verified the site. Which method did you use? It seems like something went wrong with the verification process.
Also, if you are not wanting your domain name known, you will want to update your attachment. The domain name is listed in the error message on your attachment.

Domain Change for a well positioned website... I'm a-scared
Hello, A few years ago I have "inherited" a website about a particular touristic area in Italy (the Langhe region) called langhe.net. The website is very well positioned, the domain has been registered in '97 and the overall SEO performance is pretty good (it ranks in the top #3 positions for all the main search queries in our niche). We are currently redesigning the whole thing, and one of the idea was to change the domain (and the name) of the website from langhe.net to lovelanghe.com (which we already registered). The reasons behind this decision are the following (most important first): Google prefer brands over keywords and "Langhe" is just a keyword LoveLanghe looks more memorable and "marketable" than just Langhe.net All our social presence is branded already as LoveLanghe (they were created years back under this name - I don't know why) We will do our due diligence work (301 everything, domain change in Search Console etc. etc.) but I'm still kind of worried that we will lose some ranking. So my question(s) are: do you think it's a good idea to change the domain when ranking is good and original domain is so old? how much ranking (approximately) are we going to lose? Thanks in advance 🙂 Best

How to switch brand domain and address previous use of domain
We recently acquired a new domain to replace existing as it better fits our brand. We have little/no organic value on existing domain so switching is not an issue. However the newly acquired domain was previously used in a different industry and has inbound links with significant spam scores. How can we let Google know that these links are not valid for our business and start rebuilding reputation of the domain? Disavow tool?

Site's disappearnce in web rankings
I'm currently doing some work on a website: http://www.abetterdriveway.com.au. Upon starting, I detected a lot of spammy links going to this website and sort to remove them before submitting a disavow report. A few months later, this site completely disappeared in the rankings, with all keywords suddenly not ranked. I realised that the test website (which was put up to view before the new site went live) was still up on another URL and Google was suddenly ranking that site instead. Hence, I ensured that test site was completely removed. 3 weeks later however, the site (www.abetterdriveway.com.au) still remains unranked for its keywords. Upon checking Web Master Tools, I cannot see anything that stands out. There is no manual action or crawling issues that I can detect. Would anyone know the reason for this persistent disappearance? Is it something I will just have to wait out until ranking results come back, or is there something I am missing? Help here would be much appreciated.

Hello, We have a problem with our clients website .ee. This website was developed by another company and now we don't know what is wrong with it. If i do a Google search "site:.ee" it only finds konelux.ee homepage and nothing else. Also homepage title tag and meta dec is in Finnish language not in Estonian language. If i look at .ee/robots.txt it looks like robots.txt don't block Google access. Any ideas what can be wrong here? BR, T

Hide H1 tags on pages. Don't chuckle-Need assistance.
I redesigned my companies website and I am first and foremost an SEO person so I know the importance of a well laid out website. Furthermore, I know realistically you should NEVER hide text whether it's with WH or BH intentions but here is my problem. For every page I have all the details taken care of except proper placement of H1 tags. My website is responsive designed VERY competitive industry I have to make sure it is properly developed both design wise and seo wise It's an INC 5000 company so NO BH intentions On phones and tablet devices I have the header images hidden and in the place of header images I have the information as in location, service, etc of whatever that page may be. This makes it look good on desktops and serves up information quickly to people using phones and tablets. My question is: Would it be bad to turn that text seen on tablets and phones into an h1 tag as it's hidden on desktops with CSS but available on mobile devices. My problem is making the h1 tag's work with the desktop versions visually as placement doesn't make since. Any opinions are appreciated. Thanks Ballanrk

Any way to find which domains are 301 redirected to competitors' websites?
By looking at the work from an SEO collegue it became clear that his weak linkbuilding graph probably is not the cause for his good rankings for a pretty competitive keyword. (also no social mentions where found) I was wondering what it could be, site structure and other on page optimization factors seems to be ok and I don't think there will be exceptionally good or bad user behavior... Finally I looked at the competitors and found that they have more links, better content en better design, so I got a little stuck. The only reason I can think of is that he is doing 301 redirects (or is rel=canonical tags). Is there a way to trace these redirects back to the source in order to include this important variable in your competitor research? thnx
