Problem www/non-www domain rewrite
-
Hello,
I've made a site for a client about 1 year ago. The rankings are quite okay, but the home page suffers from a penalty I think.
I found out via OSE that PageAuthority strangely is higher on the 301-ed page
www.myanmar-rundreisen.de - PA 32
myanmar-rundreisen.de/ - PA 33I don't understand what is happening here as I am using the usual htaccess 301-redirect:
Rewrite domain.com -> www.domain.com
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} .
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www.myanmar-rundreisen.de [NC]
RewriteRule (.*) http://www.myanmar-rundreisen.de/$1 [L,R=301]which is working fine with other domains ...
I tried also (last line)
RewriteRule (.*) http://www.myanmar-rundreisen.de/$1 [L,R=301]
So thanks to anyone who can share an idea on that ...

Yes. Google Webmaster Tools know about www since long ...
-
I think that's is impossible that you see change in opensiteexplorer early.
First you must logged in webmaster tools of google e decide if you use your domain with
www or without.
After you must wait the the search engine understand that this is changed.

Hi Maurizio
thanks for this code version - I changed the htaccess rewrite to your version.
htaccess does what is expected ...
No change yet in opensiteexplorer results with that htaccess, but may be after some hours ...
-
only so?
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www.
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.%{HTTP_HOST}/$1
[R=301,L]Ciao
Maurizio

301 redirected all my pages to my new domain, now I have a problem with Google Search Console
Hi guys! I bought a new domain name and redirected all my URLs from the old domain to the new one. Everything worked perfectly but now I have a little problem. I want to use the option 'Address Change' in google search console. Step 1 Works (Select new website in the list) Step 2 Works (Confirm that the 301 are working) Step 3 Asks me to Verify the old domain (huh!?) in order to complete the request. Obviously that doesn't work because my 301s WORKS! So if I try to verify the old website by putting a google file in the root of my domain Google tries to access it and it automatically redirects to the new domain. I must be missing something lol help!

Old Redirected Domain is replacing my current domain on SERPs
Hello everyone, All of a sudden a 2 year old redirected domain is replacing my current domain for 2 weeks now, my site is apitus.com and my old domain is aptitus.pe (the redirect is still working), however this only happens on my country google results (google.com.pe), if you check my site on google.com, everything looks ok even with a sitelink, which I no longer have on my country search results. Back to the issue, the first thing I thought was go to Search Console and take it out from the index, so I asked for access by uploading a file but since everything on that old site redirects to my current site I can't make such action. While still waiting for such access, is there anything else I could do?. Thanks in advance. PD: I'm adding the images of my SERPs CmzN8kY G3zZwwj

Need Help With WWW vs. Non-WWW Duplicate Pages
A friend I'm working with at RedChairMarket.com is having duplicate page issues. Among them, both www and non-www URLs are being generated automatically by his software framework, ASP.net mvc 3. How should we go about finding and tackling these duplicates? Thanks!

& tags, any SEO issues?
Hi - the content on our corporate website is pretty technical, and we include chemical element codes in the text that users would search on (like S02, C02, etc.) A lot of times our engineers request that we list the codes correctly, with a on the last number. Question - does adding this code into the keyword affect SEO? The code would look like SO2. Thanks.

Will links to www and none www result in penalty?
Hello all, Normally i redirect my www to none www to avoid the potential of duplicate content and as its typically something that is done in SEO. I don't have access to the site of the company I am working for at the moment as everything related to the sites code goes through the web developer. At the moment the site lives at www and none www and one does not redirect to the other. I have been building links (organically as we engage on a few forums and blogs) to the www as that is how it is linked internally already and how links from the job boards we post on link. We do however have some natural none www links and my concern is that since the site isn't redirected that it is being penalised or could become penalised because of this. I imagine that it isn't a serious penalty if one at all but I would rather know so I can try and get it sorted as fast as possible. Thanks.

How best to deal with www.home.com and www.home.com/index.html
Firstly, this is for an .asp site - and all my usual ways of fixing this (e.g. via htaccess) don't seem to work. I'm working on a site which has www.home.com and www.home.com/index.html - both URL's resolve to the same page/content. If I simply drop a rel canonical into the page, will this solve my dupe content woes? The canonical tag would then appear in both www.home.com and www.home.com/index.html cases. If the above is Ok, which version should I be going with? - or - Thanks in advance folks,

/forum/ or /hookah-forum/
I'm building a new website on Hookah.org. It will have a forum and blog. Should I put them in Hookah.org/hookah-forum/ and Hookah.com/hookah-blog/ or Hookah.org/forum and Hookah.org/blog I think /forum/ and /blog/ are easier for users but am not sure how much adding the word hookah helps with SEO.
