Two Sites - One Domain

I just want to be sure, but if I install a Wordpress blog in a subfolder of a HTML site, Google will see that as one site, not two different sites, correct? Even if there is two index files?

Hi

if you say so:

www.mydomain.com/blog

it's only one domain, correct and it's not important that you have more than one index file.

Is repurposing an old sub domain better than creating a new sub domain?

We have a good sub domain like** art.ourwebsite.com** which currently sells custom canvas art. We have owned the domain since 2013 but it has only been live for the past few weeks. We want to redesign & repurpose the page to continue to sell custom canvas art but will eventually include other merchandise like mugs, tshirts, etc which wouldn't be custom. Would it be best to keep art.ourwebsite.com since is a shorter/more memorible & older sub domain or would it be best to update the name to something that encompasses our new products? Our marketing team has suggested yourart.ourwebsite.com

Does the domain extension effect domain authority and ranking

We have produces a website on a .company domain extension. We have produced a good sized website with unique content. However the DA remains at 1. There are no high priority issues in the page crawl. We suspect that the domain extension may be causing a lower DA. Is this a ranking factor?

Why is Google not indexing my site?

I'm a bit confused as to why my site just isn't indexing on Google. Even if I type in my brand name, my social channels rank and there's no evidence of my website. I've followed all of the advice I've read and gone into webmaster tools and got the Wordpress yoast plug-in but nothing seems to be making a difference!One thing I've noticed, in Google Webmaster Tools it says "Couldn’t communicate with the DNS server." in site errors. I've called GoDaddy and they said that everything is fine. A bit frustrating. Trying to work out what my next steps should be but feeling a bit lost to be honest! Any help GREATLY appreciated!

If I want clean up my URLs and take the "www.site.com/page.html" and make it "www.site.com/page" do I need a redirect? If this scenario requires a 301 redirect no matter what, I might as well update the URL to be a little more keyword rich for the page while I'm at it. However, since these pages are ranking well I'd rather not lose any authority in the process and keep the URL just stripped of the ".html" (if that's possible). Thanks for you help! "One Page With Two Links To Same Page; We Counted The First Link" Is this true?

I read this to day http://searchengineland.com/googles-matt-cutts-one-page-two-links-page-counted-first-link-192718 I thought to myself, yep, thats what I been reading in Moz for years ( pitty Matt could not confirm that still the case for 2014) But reading though the comments Michael Martinez of http://www.seo-theory.com/ pointed out that Mat says "...the last time I checked, was 2009, and back then -- uh, we might, for example, only have selected one of the links from a given page."
Which would imply that is does not not mean it always the first link. Michael goes on to say "Back in 2008 when Rand WRONGLY claimed that Google was only counting the first link (I shared results of a test where it passed anchor text from TWO links on the same page)" then goes on to say " In practice the search engine sometimes skipped over links and took anchor text from a second or third link down the page." For me this is significant. I know people that have had "SEO experts" recommend that they should have a blog attached to there e-commence site and post blog posts (with no real interest for readers) with anchor text links to you landing pages. I thought that posting blog post just for anchor text link was a waste of time if you are already linking to the landing page with in a main navigation as google would see that link first. But if Michael is correct then these type of blog posts anchor text link blog posts would have value But who is' right Rand or Michael?

Merge two different domains into one

Hi all SEO folks We want to merge two different domains into one. The products are similar to each other but domain1 is the online product and domain2 is the offline version of the product (new launced product). Both the domains have the domain Authority 47 but domain1 is optimized to the online product and most keywords (branded keywords) are in top 3 , where as the domain2 has been used for another concept which has now been closed down (beginning of may), and replaced with the offline product. To boost the sale of the offline product, we want to move the content from domain1(online product) to domain2(offline product), and off course we want to keep the ranking in top 3. So this is what I know I have to do: Redirect 301 from old content url to new content url, contact external domains and ask them to link to the new domain. Furthermore I read that it is important to place everything from the old site exactly the same way on the new site (and keep the content the same), and that way keep the internal url structure/linkjuice. This is were my question comes in. If we move all the content to the exactly same location on the new site, there will be way to many links on the frontpage and the new offline product won't have the dominating position.
Do any of you have experience with moving the content from one domain1.com to domain2.com/online and still be able to keep the ranking in SERP, or would you recommend always to move the content from root to root? Ps: Sorry about my English. English is not my main language. Hope you understand my question anyway :).

Hello. I'm talking about Google Spain. I have two domains allocated in the same site. One, including the keyword selected for the domain The other is the branding name. In this way, my client can print the branding name in their cards. But for us is easier to get rankings and (I think) quickly also. In this way, what I hope, is that if someone is looking for the service in Google, the domain with the keyword appears. But the site can also be accesed by the branding domain (which is shorter and more friendly.

Redirecting a domain

I was setting up a new campaign and received the following error from Roger Robot. "We have detected that the domain www.sitename.com and the domain sitename.com both respond to web requests and do not redirect. Having two "twin" domains that both resolve forces them to battle for SERP positions, making your SEO efforts less effective. We suggest redirecting one, then entering the other here." I know about redirecting a PAGE using 301 Redirects and how to specify the www. canonical in Google webmaster tools, but is there a "DOMAIN" redirect that I'm missing. What would you suggest doing given the error message above. Thanks, Bill Sqnch.jpg
