Is www.indexkings.com safe to use?
-
Does anyone know if www.indexkings.com is a safe site to use to index a url in the eyes of Google?
-
IndexKings is a "safe" site to use. What it does is ping your URL to sites like Alexa, WSRising.com amongst others, which then pings Google.
It does generate a number of no-value backlinks and there's no documented harm (as far as i'm aware) by using these services sporadically.
What you should be aware of is users that submit 2nd or 3rd tier backlinks in an attempt to get them indexed via these services. If you've got a legitimate website that you want indexed, the best way to do that would be via www.google.com/addurl.html

When you are on this website, one of the links clicks to http://www.monsterbacklinks.com/ where you have this company advertising 1200 backlinks for $157. This is definitely stuff i would stay miles away from. (I can see Rand shaking his head in disappointment at this company and getting really really mad :):)
Here is the simple answer. Why would you want to put your site or your client's site in jeopardy by engaging this company for link building. If you do get penalized , it will take a lot of hard work and effort to get your rankings back. The bottomline is "nothing comes easy". Top rankings for competitive keywords require a lot of hard work and effort for long lasting results.

NAP corrections without using Yext
There are certain places where my address or phone number appear incorrectly online. I have tried to fix this, but many of these services are tied in with Yext, and I don't want to use Yext. For example my phone number is incorrect on whitepages.com. Also, my phone number was incorrect on Americantowns.com, and so i contacted them with the correct number, and then they deleted my listing altogether. More and more directories are tied in with Yext. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make these corrections without using a service such as Yext?

Curating Content. used to avoid, but now i'm having second thoughts
It's really hitting me now, because content curating is extremely common in a lot of other forms of media. I always avoided it because I didn't know the extent of any negatives that I might see from the search engines (duplicate content). Does anybody else curate content for their blogs? The main problem that I am having is that I just don't have enough time to publish the amount of content that I need. Outsourcing is the best alternative, and quite frankly, unless your high school English teacher needs extra money, it really isn't a very good one. Basically, i'm looking at content curating as a really good way to publish a lot of content, on more topics, a lot easier. What extent do you consider reasonable? How do you go about creating your content? What would you say is the easiest way to create content efficiently?

.com links for .co.uk domains
Hi, I was wondering whether .com links from the US for .co.uk domains increase the search engine visibility of .co.uk domain in the UK just as much as .co.uk links for .co.uk domains (assuming they are all top quality content links)? (Context: I have heard that it does from someone who should know, but I would like to double check on that) If half of the backlinks for a .co.uk domain are from .com domains in the US is this a dangerous pattern Google would pick up on?

Do you think it is worth using this directory?
I mean if it will be beneficial for my project (site) to get listed at web-designers-directory.org Any thoughts on that or you had the experience of working with that site?

In the Yahoo link directory you can submit paid or free, which do you use?
Has anyone here had any luck getting Yahoo to pickup links submitted through the free option? How long does this generally take? Or do you usually just pay the $300/year on your clients behalf? Or do you get your client to cover it? I couldn't direct link the page because you have to in a directory when you hit submit, but it looks like this screen shot: www.glitchhopforum.com/images/yahoo.png

Pretty basic question on how best to start using open site Explorer
So I have spend around a month or so with on page optimization on 25 -30 or so pages and keywords/phrases, with some half decent results…still hoping there is more to come… I reckon now it’s time to look at getting more inbound links with Open site Explorer… Every time I look at it though I get a bit of a head ache…! Can anyone say or point me in the right direction how I should really start using Open site Explorer ? (I have the PRO tool) Thanks, sorry its such a simple question!
