RE: Recommendations on the URL Structure When Posting Blogsposted in Content Development
Thanks for your opinion Andrew. Wondering how much of an impact it makes if you dont utilize the "blog" in the URL structure and add in the Title directly (www.domain.com/title) especially when going after competitive keywords.Logically it would make more sense to have a structure like this (www.domain.com/blog/category/title)

Recommendations on the URL Structure When Posting Blogsposted in Content Development
Sites are adopting different URL structures for posting blogs (examples below).
Quicksprout ( www.domain.com/dateposted/blogposttitle)
Moz (www.domain.com/blog/blogposttitle)
SEO Book (www.domain.com/blogposttitle)
What do you recommend?

RE: Precise or longer title for service page?posted in Keyword Research
1. Where is that keyword ranking ; Top 5 or top 10. If it is ranking 9 or 10 then that partly explains why your impressions count is high yet the clicks are low and in that case changing the keyword phrase to a more call to action oriented one would not do much for improve the CTR. (although it may help a bit) . If the keyword is ranking high and is quite lucrative , i would not do a lot of testing on it. I would suggest creating another page on the site with the longer title that you want to test, optimize that page and see how it performs with the CTR.
2. I would recommend checking the optimization elements of the page using the Moz On Page Grader.
Cheers,

RE: Why does this keyword have much greater volume in Bing Keyword Research Tool than Google AdWords Keyword Planner?posted in Keyword Research
Hi Kevin,
Google's tool only give exact match search volumes whereas Bing includes broad phrase and exact match results. This might be the cause for the discrepancy in volumes. Google's data being displayed in the keyword tool might not be that current.

RE: Keyword Phrases - Can You Break Them Up?posted in Intermediate & Advanced SEO
Hi Steve,
On page title tags are just one element that Google looks at when placing you in the SERP's. In addition to the on page you also need to have strong off page elements signalling the importance of that phrase to Google on your site. One of our clients is ranking at the top for a non profit keyword even through a different variation of that keyword phrase is mentioned on the title tag.
Cheers,

RE: How do you archive content?posted in Intermediate & Advanced SEO
Hi Sorina,
Archiving is more about classifying information/content that is either outdated or not being accessed that frequently by the visitors into a separate section on your site. I would not no index those pages because they might be ranking well in the search engines and still be getting traffic to the site. You can do this creating an "archives" section on your site so that if the visitors want to access the old content on your site they can still do so by accessing that section.

RE: Difference between Organic and Natural Traffic?posted in Industry News
Hi Shawn,
There is some discrepancy with details in regards to what each of these terms could be used for. Some see these terms as basically synonymous, as organic traffic does indeed refer to web traffic directed through search engines. Organic traffic can also include direct and social media links. Natural traffic can also be used to describe the same element, with links from search engines or any website. When traffic is generated through users directly entering a URL, this is usually referred to as “direct” traffic.

RE: How to detect a bad neighborhood links?posted in Intermediate & Advanced SEO
Good Question Luis,
Suggested Process below:
- Get a list of all your backlinks
- Make a list of all the known bad neighborhoods. You might have to research SEO blogs for this info
- Compare that with your list of backlinks
- You can also manually check any site to see if it is indexed in Google or not to confirm it's negative impact.

RE: Page Title in Local SEO Title Tags?posted in On-Page Optimization
Hi Tyler,
My thoughts would be to go with the keyword+location. Also the keyword or location should not be mentioned more than 2 times in the title tag.

RE: Should I put meta descriptions on pages that are not indexed?posted in Technical SEO
Hi Brittany,
While it is not essential to have meta descriptions for each page, especially if they are not indexed by Google, there can still be some benefit to having meta descriptions for pages people are linking to. Users can see the meta description if the page shows up during a search query, and sites with strong meta descriptions tend to come across as more professional. There is always a chance the page can show up in other search engines and directories, so you won’t want to worry about random text showing up. There is no real ranking benefit to meta descriptions, but Google does indicate whether meta descriptions are too long, too short, or too similar in Webmaster Tools, so it would seem Google would consider proper meta descriptions to be of at least some value.
