Why Historical Domain Analysis is not updated for almost 2 months?
-
This is one of the most important areas of SeoMoz to see if you are making any progress or not. Unfortunately it is not updated since 2/28/12 and today is 4/18/12. What's happenning?

Hi Mcarle, I'm Rob - I built Linkstant.
Linkstant monitors for clicks on a link to your site that it hasn't seen before.
If you put the Linkstant code on a new site, or just on new pages, then you'll only know about new links.
If you put the code on pages that have been around for a while and have a bunch of links already, then I'm afraid it will alert you when it discovers those old links for a while.
You could consider turning off the email alerts for a time, while it discovers all those old links, or you might just chose to the put the code on new content.
Hope this helps; let me know if you have any other questions!
Rob

It's ok, I added a thumbs up for you

How exactly does this tool work?
Does it send you updates with NEW links to your site?
or
Does it send you messages when someone CLICKS an old link to your site?
I just got a few messages about "new" links but they have been on other sites for months...
I can't find any text that clarifies this on the website.

Hey Sha, awesome tool, and the first I've heard of it. I'll definitely be implementing it ASAP. If I could give you two thumbs I would
Thanks again.

Hi Pol360,
Excellent answer from Anthony and big thumbs up!
If you are looking for a tool that will let you know when you have new links, you might want to take a look at Linkstant, a cool tool put together by Tom Critchlow & Rob Ousbey from SEO consulting company Distilled.
You won't get all of the Moz metrics available in Open Site Explorer once the Index is updated, but in the meantime you will at least know instantly when new links are created
Hope that helps,
Sha

HI Pol,
You can check out the Linkscape Update Schedule here:
http://apiwiki.seomoz.org/w/page/25141119/Linkscape%20Schedule
Looks like April 27th is the day. You're not the only one holding your breath, I promise! But with the next index including over 100 billion URLs for the first time, I'm sure SEOMoz has a few kinks to work out.
Also here's a very in depth explanation of the reason for the delayed update, which was originally planned for April 6th:

Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Anthony

A mass of spammy links pointing to our domain from dynu.net
Hi MOZ community! Need some help with some strange activity on the link profile of a website I manage... I have noticed since the 4th of August a mass of links pointing to one of our domains. It looks like some kind of attack from dynu.net. I am seeing 100s of different subdomains from this website in the Discovered and Lost area, with DA 1. They are linking to us from very low quality pages with no CSS, that includes just random text. Anybody seeing anything similar or from the same website? Our links report example: https://imgur.com/a/y7pAopJ Also, what is the correct process to deal with such instances? We have used Google's disavow in the past, but I have read that Google are quite proactive at recognizing spammy links, and webmasters don't really need to use that tool. Much appreciated! y7pAopJ

Seeing steady drop in Domain Authority?
Hi! I'm working with a client that has seen a steady drop in their domain authority over the past year and a half. They were at 75 in October '13 and now they're down to 67. The drop seems rather steady over this time, no big dip. They've actually worked their crawl errors during this time and have reduced a ton of them. I can't figure out why this metric would be dropping. Anyone know of something measurable I can look at to help pinpoint the problem (and of course actions to fix it)? Thanks so much!

Linking Building: Do I have to beat Linking Root Domains or Total Links?
Hello, When skoping for how to beat competitors, do I need to aim to beat the linking root domains number or the total links? Or do I need to think about both? Thanks!

Is there any way to view crawl errors historically?
One of the website's we monitor have been getting high duplicate page titles, as we work through the pages, we see changes and the number of duplicate page titles are decreasing. However, lately, it went up again and the duplicate page titles have increased. I wanted to ask if there's any way to view the new errors and the old errors separately or sorted in a way that can help me identify why we are getting new page crawl errors. Any advice would be great. Thanks!

How best to gain Followed Linking Root Domains?
Hi All, Sorry if this question has been asked before. I've had a look through the Q&A sections and I couldn't really see anyone who'd asked the question as direct as this? Basically, I'm using the SEOMoz competitive domain analysis to compare some of our domains and our competitors domains and see where we're falling down. At the minute, we seem to be only scoring around '31', whereas our two closest competitors as 32 and 33 on the overall score. This still seems pretty low to me (maybe it's not) so I'm assuming we can make some good headway. At the minute, the analysis shows that we're beating our competitors hands down with the number of links to our site, these are all relatively good quality and they haven't just been spammed out there to gain links. We are however struggling to get followed linking root domains. As I understand it, these are basically just links from domains not on the same IP that are followed? Since I've seen this, I've looked through the open site explorer and gone through all of our competitors sites to get backlinks from URL's linking to them. I've had fairly good success with this but they only seem to have gone up by 1 - 2 links. Does this only get updated once a month? In addition to this, does anyone have any tips on how to build up followed linking domains? Kind Regards

Why is my domain authority dropping?
I have been fixing broken links, doing a lot of on-site SEO keyword and page title improvement, and steadily building inbound links. Yet my domain authority and MozRanking is dropping, though my keyword rankings are improving. What is going on? Should I be concerned? How can I find out why my domain ranking is dropping, and how (and should I) fix this? Is this because I do not have a blog yet? What factors determine domain authority?
