What steps can you take to help a site that does not change
-
Hi, i am working on a product and services website www.clairehegarty.co.uk but the problem i have is, the site does not really change. The home page stays the same and the only time it changes is when a new course is advertised.
The most important page on the website is http://www.clairehegarty.co.uk/virtual-gastric-band-with-hypnotherapy but we have seen the site drop in rankings because the page is not being updated.
This page has all the information you could want on weight loss but we have seen the page drop from number one in google to number four.
I would like to know what steps we should take to increase our rankings in google and would be grateful for your suggestions.
If i put in articles on the site, had a section where we put a new article every week, would this then get google to visit the whole site more and move our pages back up the rankings, or should we be looking at doing other things.

i was thinking about having a seperate page for weight loss surgery and the hypnotherapy for weight loss but the responce we got was, people wanted to learn about both on the same page.
On the page itself, the responce rate is about 10% ideally, i would like to increase this to 30%I have watched the page go down from ranking number one in google to number four. We have been number one for a couple of years now.
Our compeditor who never seems to change their page and this leaves us puzzled to how all of a sudden they are outranking us is. www.hypnoband.com/
the hypno band company never alter their page but they are now ranking above us.
one thing i have noticed in the past two weeks and i cannot work out how to solve this, is. the description we have for the page is
Gastric Band Hypnotherapy to lose weight guaranteed. Free Gastric Band Hypnosis Consultations with Well Known Gastric Hypno Band expert as seen on TV. Hypno Gastric Band Works. We offer full support after your Gastric Band Hypnotherapy
but for some reason when you search for the page in google it is now bringing text from the page which i did not want to happen
This is such an important page that i need to try and fix and get back to number one in google

Hi Diane,
If I understood your question correctly, the website ranking is dropping because there are no updates on the website and Google loves frequent updates; therefore, you are asking if there is any ways or methods to avoid the "Freshness" factor.
If that is true, as you have suggested, creating a blog and constantly writing useful articles will help you solve this dilemma. A blog is part of your website and if you post frequently, then it is considered as your website being updated frequently. So in conclusion, what you suggested in the last paragraph should work. (Make sure to include keywords in your articles)
Furthermore, as Keri and Logan had suggested in the answers, fixing up your page layout will also benefit your ranking. It will reduce bounce rate and by breaking down the page to many different pages or sections, it will have more pages for google to crawl and easier to read.
Other than update frequently, there are many other factors and reason why your ranking drop. Try building more qulaity backlinks and BLOG (have more pages to crawl).
Hope this answers your question.

I agree with Keri - there is definitely too much info on the page. This might cause a higher bounce rate, which could hurt your rankings. The site/content could probably be re-organized in a more appealing way. A/B testing would be definitely recommended.
I am not 100% sure, but I am think that having a huge list of service areas at the bottom your main page looks somewhat spammy to search engines. Instead, build backlinks from sites relevant to those locations, or create a locations page specifically for that on the main navigation.
Lastly, your site has some pixelated graphics, a somewhat template-like layout. When you're talking about something as controversial as hypnotherapy, creating a very polished and trustworthy brand image could do wonders. This collaborates with what Keri said about conversions.
There are plenty of things that you can do to help build ranks, but you can't leave the site or your brand stagnant. It may have worked for awhile, but you have to stay proactive to get results! Good luck!

The page actually feels like it has too much information about what the actual surgery involves, and too little information about the hypnosis. How long does it take, both in how long is an individual session and how many sessions does it take? What is the cost? Does the hypnosis ever wear off? For what percentage of people is it effective? Do people have to travel to your office, or do you come to them?
How is the page for conversions? Ranking isn't everything, as in the end you are still trying to make money and have people inquire about your services. You might consider an a/b test and test a page that is more focused on the user and less on the search engines, and see if you get more people calling to inquire about your services. This page has a lot of extra content that is off-topic and appears to be written for the search engines (especially that huge footer) and isn't written for the person considering the service.

Does anyone know the linking of hashtags on Wix sites does it negatively or postively impact SEO. It is coming up as an error in site crawls 'Pages with 404 errors' Anyone got any experience please?
Does anyone know the linking of hashtags on Wix sites does it negatively or positively impact SEO. It is coming up as an error in site crawls 'Pages with 404 errors' Anyone got any experience please? For example at the bottom of this blog post https://www.poppyandperle.com/post/face-painting-a-global-language the hashtags are linked, but they don't go to a page, they go to search results of all other blogs using that hashtag. Seems a bit of a strange approach to me.

Why is this site ranking higher?
We've put a fair bit of effort into delivering value here: https://lewescountycars.co.uk/ But a search for "Lewes taxis" or "taxis Lewes" puts this site above us: https://www.lewestowntaxis.co.uk/ As you can you see, this is a tiny site that we outperform in most ways.... what can we do to rank above it that we haven't already done? Thanks in advance - Gerard.

No google traffic for this site? Help?
Hi We have not done this web site http://climateacs.co.uk but have now picked it up and its getting no traffic what so ever from google do you think its been blacklisted? I have added it to my webmaster tools and there are no manual actions on it and most of the backlinks on google webmaster tools are from yell.com. However when I run it on opensiteexplorer I am seeing some chinese type links?? It is not really showing many search queries at all when you view them in webmaster tools under United Kingdom. I was going to start citation building for the address to help support the google places entry but just wanted to see what other peoples opinion was really on this site? Thanks Tracy

Redirects in site map
I have a site with the ace/sef ( creates friendly URLS) in a large data base site. It creates a site map dynamically. Yet I realize one issue which I am trying to think through. I recently changed my urls to include an ID number example: homepage/houses/1134-big-blue-house The prior url was: homepage/houses/big-blue-house the original url above redirects to the new one with the ID like I want. However the site map has both URLS in it which go to same page I am not sure but it seems rather stupid to have the new URL and OLD redirected URL in the site map. Yet beside stupid I am wondering if this is duplicate content and will cause a penalty from the google bot. What is your opinion ?

One site per location or all under and umbrella site?
I am working on a project where we are re-branding lots (100+) existing local business under one national brand. I am wondering what we should do with their existing websites, they are generally fairly poor and will need re-designing to match the new brand but may have some residual links? 301 redirect the URL to the national site, e.g. nationalsite.com/localbusinessA? If so what should I look out for? Do I need to specifically redirect any pages that have links to them to the same pages on the new site? Or should I give them a new standalone website that they link back to the national brand site? More than likely this will be hosted on the same server and CMS as the main site just the URL will remain Do I need to make sure that any old URL's that had links to them are 301'd to the new pages? Many thanks for you advice.

Mobile site rank on Google S.E. instead of desktop site.
Hello, all SEOers~ Today, I would like to hear your opinion regarding on Mobile site and duplicate contents issue. I have a mobile version of our website that is hosted on a subdomain (m instead www). Site is targeting UK and Its essentially the same content, formatted differently. So every URL on www exists also at the "m" subdomain and is identical content. (there are some different contents, yet I could say about 90% or more contents are same) Recently I've noticed that search results are showing links to our mobile site instead of the desktop site. (Google UK) I have a sitemap.xml for both sites, the mobile sitemap defined as follows: I didn't block googlebot from mobile site and also didn't block googlebot-mobile from desktop site. I read and watched Google webmaster tool forum and related video from Matt Cutts. I found many opinion that there is possibility which cause duplicate contents issue and I should do one of followings. 1. Block googlebot from mobile site. 2. Use canonical Tag on mobile site which points to desktop site. 3. Create and develop different contents (needless to say...) Do you think duplicate contents issue caused my mobile site rank on S.E. instead of my desktop site? also Do you think those method will help to show my desktop site on S.E.? I was wondering that I have multi-country sites which is same site format as I mentioned above. However, my other country sites are totally doing fine on Google. Only difference that I found is my other country sites have different Title & Meta Tag comparing to desktop site, but my UK mobile site has same Title & Meta Tag comparing to desktop. Do you think this also has something to do with current problem? Please people~! Feel free to make some comments and share your opinion. Thanks for reading my long long explanation.
