Rankings like this mean what?
-
I have just redirected our old domain to our new domain using a sitewide 301 redirect. That was on Dec 6. Since none of the pages are showing in the serps unless you search specifically for a paragraph in quotes. But I am also very concerned because scraper sites are coming up before my site. Here are a few examples:
and here is one I just took off the site and put somewhere else:
and yet another:
Notice the pattern, all of the results have my site (the originator of the content) at the bottom. I am very concerned with this as I'm sure this means Penalty up the ..... something.
What is my best move at this point? Is there any chance of getting out of this?
Just be thankful you are not in this position, it sucks. But I'm still positive I can do something with this site.
Thanks
Rob

May have been a mistake but the main reason is that the .com was a hybrid mix of html and wordpress and ever since I added the blog as 'part' of the site it only made the Panda issues worse. I was originally hit by Panda 1.0 and have never been able to shake it off. If you look at the wayback machine for the site you will see that it has completely changed. Then Panda 20 struck and left me holding my tail meaning that 98% of my pages were not even showing up in the serps. So I was thinking that moving only the wordpress install and then porting over the html pages into wordpress will give it a fresh start. But since I have done that, now nothing is ranking, last week the home page at least appeared in thh top 5 for the brand term. But that has me concerned because the majority of the backlinks are branded or at least the url, so if I can't even rank for my own brand it seems like this whole change killed it completely at this point.
You mentioned 6 weeks for one of your changes, perhaps I still need to be patient with it.
Now that the site has been ported into wordpress on the .net, perhaps it's best to move that back to .com since the url has a pretty solid MozRank compared to .net. I know doing that will completely screw up the rankability for month or three though. So I really am at a standstill as to how to procede with this project to get back into big G. Every other traffic source is doing fine, but for some reason as we all know that G traffic just tends to taste better.

Weird...I just checked out both in OSE. Everything seems like you did it the right way at first glance. I had a site that I was working on do something similar...only for one redirect but it was a high traffic word that we ranked well for. It sucks to say the least. It's taken about 6 weeks for the new page to start showing a page authority close to the previous page. If you don't mind me asking, why change from the .com to the .net?

Hey Shane, thanks for the response. Yes the 301 is page for page, not all pointing to the main url.
To me it seems that none of the link juice is being passed which is strange because even a search for my brand has the site either #4 or 5 and no other pages are getting serp luv at the moment, even though a site:burnworld.net has all the pages in that index and webmaster tools shows them all crawled from the sitemaps. It's just none are showing in the main index.
Andy advice will be greatly appreciated.

Hey Rob,
Sounds awful. When you say site wide 301 redirect, is every page getting redirected to the corresponding page on the new URL? Or are all your old pages redirecting to your new domain's home page?
There was a related topic(url below) and the first response is similar to what I have seen.
http://www.seomoz.org/q/lost-all-ranking-after-site-wide-301-redirect
If that doesn't help, feel free to post the url's(old and new) and I'll take a look.
Shane

A Sudden Drop in Keyword Ranking but why?
Hi, I wondered if anyone has ever experienced anything like this before, one of our customers has a website JDB Events (http://www.jdb-events.com/). When he first came to us he was using Fast Hosts and he was experiencing down time pretty much every day in periods of up to an hour. The first step before carrying out any SEO was to place the website on our VPS so that the downtime issue was resolved. It did resolve the issue and the speed of the website was also increased. My next issue was to address the length of the Title on the home page because it was 157 characters, I usually keep these to 70 characters. This is the old Meta Title: JDB Events Limited - Event, Production & AV Hire Specialists | The West Midlands Dance Floor Hire, LED Furniture, DJ, Disco Hire & Event Services Specialists Here is the my new Meta Title: JDB Events | LED Furniture Hire for Parties and Corporate Events I have attached a screenshot of the drop that I have experienced, would anyone recommend that it's ok to keep the title longer so that I can cram more search terms into it, I use Woo Rank as a bench mark and this recommends shortening the title but I would be interested in hearing anyone's views. Other steps that I have taken: Shortened the home page description WWW Resolve Added Robots.txt Crawled all of the pages for 404 errors etc The next step I'm thinking of taking is replacing the amended meta title and description for the old one and monitoring that, other than that I can't see why I have taken such a hit. Google ranks our competitor above us on 1000's of branded queires!!!
Hi all, I have noticed a very bizarre phenomenon in Google SERPs. When I search for a branded keyworks [Product + our brand].
Search Behavior | | ref.price
Amazon.fr appear above us on thousands of results. Google even ranks Amazon above us for queries like [ PriceMinister google plus]. I have tried to ask Google about it but I can’t seem to get an answer. Here is the topic I posted on Google’s forum: http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!category-topic/webmasters/crawling-indexing--ranking/DFvTPr14o_o This seems like a mistake on Google’s side, some kind of semantic association with our two brands! Basically they are sending our customers to our main competitor even though they specifically searched for our brand (PriceMinister). I find the phenomenon quite interesting for the SEO community and frustrating for our company. Does anyone have ideas on this one? Do you think it's a bug from Google? Cheers Oliver0 -

Spam like visits to website
I am having a problem where I'm getting an enormous amount of unique visitors that bounce from a small area in Oregon even though we never market there. It appears to be some type of ping. It messes up our tracking and inflates the bounce rate. Is there a way to block this? I'm OK with any type of block because our reach is statewide in Florida. ANy feedback?

Interesting keyword ranking issue
Hello Everybody, Thanks for taking the time to read this post. Without further ado, I'll jump straight to it: http://www.dataclinic.co.uk is the web site of a UK based data recovery company. Historically the site has always ranked well for popular data recovery keywords in the UK, with page 1 rankings for most things data recovery related. However, lately things seem to have changed for our most important phrase "data recovery". We noticed several months ago that Google had started to favour the page http://www.dataclinic.co.uk/data-recovery.htm instead of http://www.dataclinic.co.uk/ when a search for "data recovery" (and similar) was performed. This didn't concern us that much as our rankings remained good. However now, neither of these pages seems to be ranking well when a search for "data recovery" is performed (I gave up at Page 5 - who looks past there when searching?). I would appreciate your input on this please - especially about the following points: 1. Why have these two pages now seemingly disappeared from SERPS when a search for "data recovery" is performed ? 2. Why has Google chosen http://www.dataclinic.co.uk/data-recovery.htm rather than http://www.dataclinic.co.uk ? 3. Is this just something to do with UK results ? 4. Other sites I would expect NOT to see in the top results have started appearing - despite their link profiles etc remaining poor - perhaps Google is doing a bit of reorganisation with SERPS related to data recovery at the moment ? 5. And perhaps, most importantly - do you think we need to do anything about our current lack of visibility ?? As I mentioned, we've always ranked well, so these results are puzzling... Should search results revert "back to normal" in a day or so, or am I missing something and need to take action ?? Thanks for any input on this - we would be very grateful indeed for you help ! Kind Regards, Sue
