An expert opinion would be much appreciated.

Another story about a site that has been trashed by Penguin/Panda. My site's been around for 10 years. It's had ups and downs but right now it is WAY down.
The site is in a competitive arena but I am targetting less competitive niches within and I can confirm these are much less competitive, quite specialised and only people with relevant experience can produce content of any value. (that's not saying people can't produce abundant garbage that ranks!)
According to Google there are no manual spam actions but pages that once had top 5 positions are now nowhere to be found. Pages that contain links to these once popular pages are appearing in SERPS but not the pages themselves. Or at least I've not trawled below page 50.....
I'm trimming away old pages and low content pages and I'm going to start cleaning up backlinks (already got rid of a few old sitewide links but things have just got worse!).
It truly is as though ex-high ranking pages are having their heads held under the water but I don't know why and I can't understand why considerably lower quality pages are ranking but mine are not.
I don't overoptimise and I design pages to contain helpful content and the service people receive is also good quality (I have testimonials!)
What I need is just someone to take a look and help me understand why my site has been slammed and what steps I need to take.
There is no doubt the site is being held back.
I've read several articles on what to do to improve things and I am working on it but I would love an expert opinion. Can anybody offer some suggestions & what would you need from me...?

Buy new car
You have to pay insurance
You have to pay assistance
etc. etc. I want to do this because i want to make all articles like landing pages...
This "advantages box" have 100 characters. The general length of articles on my blog is 500/600 characters. So i have an average of 15/20% internal duplicated content on all my articles. Is this bad for seo? Any alternatives?0 -

Question for experts - a website is ranking defying all google rules
Hi all Today I saw a strange result in google's search page. When I typed a keyword: Rezeptfrei bestellen, it gave me results like number 1- http://www.rezeptfreibestellen.com/ If I check this site in opensiteexplorer, this is nothing but a new site with no backlinks, or any other offpage work. Onpage work is simply keyword stuffing and domain name is also same as keyword. Now why google ranked this website above others? Where are google EMD and Penguin, Panda? Amit

How Much Authority Needed for Page with 1000 Internal Links?
Hypothetically speaking, if you wanted your homepage to have 1000 links, how much Page Rank or link authority would you need at a minimum (in order for Google to crawl all the links on the page)? Here is an example: http://www.khanacademy.org/#browse

How much authority does a 301 pass to a different domain?
Hi, A client of mine is selling his business to a brand new company. The brand new company will be using a brand new domain (no way to avoid that unfortunately) and the current domain (which has tons of authority, links, shares, tweets, etc.) will not be used. Added to that, the new company will be taking over all the current content with just a few minor changes. (I know, I wish we could use the old domain but we can't.) Obviously, I am redirecting all pages on the current domain to the new domain via 301 redirects on a page by page basis. So, current.com/product-page-x.html redirects to new.com/product-page-x.html. My client and the new company both are asking me how much link juice (and other factors) are passed along to the new domain from the old domain. All I can find is "not the full value" or variants thereof. My experience with 301 redirects in the past has been within a single domain and I've seen some of those pages have decent authority and decent rankings as a result of the 301 (no other optimization work was done or links were added). Are there any studies out there that I'm missing that show how much authority/juice gets passed and/or lost via a 301 redirect? Anybody with a similar issue see any trends in page/domain authority and/or rankings? Thanks for any insights and opinions you have.
