How to properly do reviews with Rich Text Snippets
-
I am trying to find out the best way to do this.
Do you use hreview?
Thanks,
-
Yes. You can find a helpful example of markup for multiple reviews at the bottom of the schema.org Review documentation.
Another resource that might be helpful is this SEOmoz post from last year: The Lowdown on Structured Data and Schema.org - Your Questions Answered!
-
If you had a testimonials page with 10 of them on there. Woudl you do them all in the schema.org markup?
-
hReview is just another way to markup a review. Specifically, it's the microformat way to markup a review. Here's the hReview specification: http://microformats.org/wiki/hreview
Google still supports microformat markup, but I recommend using schema.org markup because it is supported by Google, Bing, and Yahoo! (and it is the standard that those search engines are emphasizing for the future).
Once you've implemented the markup, use Google's Rich Snippet Tool to test if the markup is functioning correctly.

Thanks. I had used that code before and it didn't work. Maybe I had something wrong. Why is the difference with using HREVIEW?
-
Hi Dave,
Here's a great resource for generating rich snippets for reviews: Schema Creator for "Review"
That page includes the official Google video about rich snippets for reviews, helpful pointers to Google help pages, the schema.org documentation for the Review object, and a code generator for review markup.
I hope that helps

Can Google index the text content in a PDF?
I really really thought the answer was always no. There's plenty of other things you can do to improve search visibility for a PDF, but I thought the nature of the file type made the content itself not-parsable by search engine crawlers... But now, my client's competitor is ranking for my client's brand name with a PDF that contains comparison content. Thing is, my client's brand isn't in the title, the alt-text, the url... it's only in the actual text of the PDF. Did I miss a major update? Did I always have this wrong?

How to get Youtube videos to show up with rich snippets.
Most of our SERPS are ranking, but video is not. We use Youtube for hosting and I am wondering if Google/Youtube somehow block video rich snippets from ranking when hosted through Youtube? Is there a better hosting service or should we host the video ourselves in order to get these videos to show up? Does

Weird problems with google's rich snippet markup
Once upon a time, our site was ranking well and had all the markups showing up in the results. We than lost some of our rankings due to dropped links and not so well kept maintenance. Now, we are gaining up the rankings again, but the markups don't show up in the organic search results. When we Google site:oursite.com, the markups show up, but not in the organic search. There are no manual actions against our site. any idea why this would happen?

What are we doing wrong with Rich Snippets?
So, a client webstore has rich snippets on all products, and it seems they are working fine, and are showing up, the only problem is, that the price for an article is not showing up. The part of the code, that shows the price is this: Redna cena:
Technical SEO | | Red_Orbit
29,99 € Is the problem that we have the itemprop="price" in a meta tag? I've read around the internet that if you have a lot of meta, this can be a problem.... Can we change it into: Redna cena: Would this work, or is there another thing that we can try? The URL for this article is http://www.bigbang.si/igre/sleeping-dogs-le-x360-4989980 -
Does the use of sliders for text-on-page, effects SEO in any way?
The concept of using text sliders in an e-commerce site as a solution to placing SEO text above or in between product and high on ages, seems too good to be true.... or is it? How would a text slider for FAQ or other on-page text done with sliding paragraphs (similar but not this specific code- http://demo.tutorialzine.com/2010/08/dynamic-faq-jquery-yql-google-docs/faq.html) might effect text-on-page SEO. Does Google consider it hidden text? Would there be any other concerns or best practices with this design concept? faq.html

Text hidden by button?
The issue: text on a page available only by pushing a button or clicking Read More and the text slides up via AJAX. Will Google penalize a site doing that via hand edit? I think that according to Matt Cutts, as long as the text is available to the user then it's ok. I want to double check on this.
