Two of Pages Have Been SendBoxed
-
Hello,
I was number 1-2 for my local keyword term, but now im nowhere, those two urls dont even show up in Google search results, my other pages DO, so that is obvious Google sendboxed them, i dont remember doing aggressive non quality link building, and its not a competitive term, since i was number 1 in Google for over 3 months or so
i checked this tool and found that two of my urls are in sendbox http://www.searchenginegenie.com/sandbox-checker.htm
I was never sendboxed before, can you help me how can i get out of this, since its my client's website, and i have to get those pages up as soon as possible
Thank You

Hi Irving,
I did removed robots meta nofollow tags from the pages!
Do i still need to change the URL's and let the old ones 404?
Thanks
-
Thanks a lot Irving, i just removed them, but why it was there anyways?
i never created this
<meta name="<a class="external" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">robots</a>" content="<a class="external" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">noindex, nofollow</a>" /> so after all this, my pages will get indexed ? thanks
-
Oh remove the robots meta nofollow tags from the pages!!! Check your other pages too to make sure you're no unintentionally blocking them.

<meta name="<a class="attribute-value">robots</a>" content="<a class="attribute-value">noindex, nofollow</a>" /> http://www.asggutter.com/gutter-protection-system/``` <meta name="<a class="attribute-value">robots</a>" content="<a class="attribute-value">noindex, nofollow</a>" />

Thank you

these type of links are most likely the culprit. Did you get an email in WMT about unnatural link profile detected?

Hi,
But it looks like the entire site's organic visibility is .. flat line.
See a screenshot here: http://screencast.com/t/LDe92AnA
You did had a spike up but then it went flat line again.
It also looks like you only have 4-5 keywords ranking on the second page and those are the best rankings for now.
So it's not only the two pages that have issues...
Am i missing something ?
Hope it helps.

sounds like those pages have been suppressed. probably the link building you did, doesn't have to be aggressive, just has to be too many similar anchor texts and/or sitewides etc.
change the URLs and let the old ones 404. start over with fresh urls.
-
Hi,
Can you post the domain name and the two urls so we can have a look at the visibility?
Cheers.

Rel Canonical for the Same Page
Hi, I was looking in my one of my moz accounts and under analyz page under notices is a message that says: Rel Canonical Using rel=canonical suggests to search engines which URL should be seen as canonical. I checked an notice that I do have a rel='canonical' href='http://www.example.com' /> from the home page of http://www.example.com. I guess my question is. Does having a Rel Canonical going to the same page hurt my SEO? I'm not sure why it is there but wanted to make sure I address this correctly. I was under the impression you use Rel Canonical for duplicate or similar pages and you want to let Google know what page to show. But since I've made this mistake to where I am saying to show the home page if you find a similar home page, should I just delete the Rel Canonical. Thanks,

Local City Pages
Anyone have any input on the tactics being used for a national company trying to target local city pages. For instance, you might be a national printing company and you are trying to compete against local printers in cities by creating a specific page for that city + print keywords.

How Does Google's "index" find the location of pages in the "page directory" to return?
This is my understanding of how Google's search works, and I am unsure about one thing in specific: Google continuously crawls websites and stores each page it finds (let's call it "page directory") Google's "page directory" is a cache so it isn't the "live" version of the page Google has separate storage called "the index" which contains all the keywords searched. These keywords in "the index" point to the pages in the "page directory" that contain the same keywords. When someone searches a keyword, that keyword is accessed in the "index" and returns all relevant pages in the "page directory" These returned pages are given ranks based on the algorithm The one part I'm unsure of is how Google's "index" knows the location of relevant pages in the "page directory". The keyword entries in the "index" point to the "page directory" somehow. I'm thinking each page has a url in the "page directory", and the entries in the "index" contain these urls. Since Google's "page directory" is a cache, would the urls be the same as the live website (and would the keywords in the "index" point to these urls)? For example if webpage is found at wwww.website.com/page1, would the "page directory" store this page under that url in Google's cache? The reason I want to discuss this is to know the effects of changing a pages url by understanding how the search process works better.

How do I 301 redirect a number of pages to one page
I want to redirect all pages in /folder_A /folder_B to /folder_A/index.php. Can I just write one or two lines of code to .htaccess to do that?

Handling 301s: Multiple pages to a single page (consolidation)
Been scouring the interwebs and haven't found much information on redirecting two serparate pages to a single new page. Here is what it boils down to: Let's say a website has two pages, both with good page authority of products that are becoming fazed out. The products, Widget A and Widget B, are still popular search terms, but they are being combined into ONE product, Widget C. While Widget A and Widget B STILL have plenty to do with Widget C, Widget C is now the new page, the main focus page, and the page you want everyone to see and Google to recognize. Now, do I 301 Widget A and Widget B pages to Widget C, ALTHOUGH Widgets A and B previously had nothing to do with one another? (Remember, we want to try and keep some of that authority the two page have had.) OR do we keep Widget A and Widget B pages "alive", take them off the main navigation, and then put a "disclaimer" on the pages announcing they are now part of Widget C and link to Widget C? OR Should Widgets A and B page be canonicalized to Widget C? Again, keep in mind, widgets A and B previously were not similar, but NOW they are and result in Widget C. (If you are confused, we can provide a REAL work example of what we are talkinga about, but decided to not be specific to our industry for this.) Appreciate any and all thoughts on this.

SEOMoz is indicating I have 40 pages with duplicate content, yet it doesn't list the URL's of the pages???
When I look at the Errors and Warnings on my Campaign Overview, I have a lot of "duplicate content" errors. When I view the errors/warnings SEOMoz indicates the number of pages with duplicate content, yet when I go to view them the subsequent page says no pages were found... Any ideas are greatly welcomed! Thanks Marty K.

Backlinks to home page vs internal page
Hello, What is the point of getting a large amount of backlinks to internal pages of an ecommerce site? Although it would be great to make your articles (for example) strong, isn't it more important to build up the strength of the home page. All of My SEO has had a long term goal of strengthening the home page, with just enough backlinks to internal pages to have balance, which is happening naturally. The home page of our main site is what comes up on tons of our keyword searches since it is so strong. Please let me know why so much effort is put into getting backlinks to internal pages. Thank you,
