What SEO Tools Do You Use?
-
Things changed a bit for me when Raven Stopped using google and SemRush data and I haven't exactly found a solution I'm happy with so Just wanted to use what people use alongside SEOMoz, or what they use instead of certain parts of SEOMoz.
Before I was using Raven Tools, Screaming Frog SEO Crawler but currently I'm using Screaming Frog SEO Crawler, SEOMoz (trial), and SerpIQ (trial).

For me, it's:
- SEOmoz data - downloaded into Excel
- Webmaster tools data
- Screamingfrog data - into Excel
- Google Analytcis - downloaded into Excel
Then I use Excel with various filters to mold the data as I need.
For example I may well combine data from the above 2 sources, and use vlookup formula's to, say, find 404 pages (screaming frog) that have a high PA (SEOmoz) by pasting in all the data from a screaming frog 404 report, into a download from SEOmoz, and the using a vlookup command to find the PA of the 404 pages.
Of course in the above example I could just use a crawl report form SEOmoz, which I also do, however i like to use more than one tool to check for 404's
Plus using the above technique you can do all sorts of trickery-pokery, and uncover lots of actionable insights.
If you search either on Google, SEOmoz, or Distilled, for something like: excel for seo - SEO for excel - or something like that, you will find loads of info.
Other decent tools to consider are:
- ahref's
- cognativeSEO
- Majestic SEO
These are all places that pull similar data, but are slightly different from each other, and have different benefits.
ahref's, for example, can be handy for finding links that have dropped-off.
Just my thoughts
Mike.

Where to learn SEO practices, especially local
I am looking to learn SEO as I know how important it is. I have basic understandings, but I don't know where to start, or what to add. my website is viralextent.com and apparently I'm not so good at ranking. I want to rank locally for "web design". I understand that I couldn't touch the national market right now as I can't even seem to grasp the local. I know everyone's time is valuable so I'm not looking for a free assessment. Where should I go to learn what I need to do next and kind of guide me through the process of becoming #1 for local? I am obviously an SEOmoz PRO member, where should I start here, or should I be looking somewhere else? Any direction would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

On page optimisation tool issues
When viewing my campaign and looking at the on page optimisation tool, I have a few issues. I seems to only shows the keywords I want rankings for and how optimised my homepage is for those keywords. Is there any way I can get it to analyse permanently specifc keywords for specific pages because my homepage isnt optimised for some keywords which are on my list, which I have optimised other pages for, and because its looking at my homepage its getting a really low grade, and looks really bad and frustrates me because I cant work this out. Any help greatly appreciated.

Tool for scanning the content of the canonical tag
Hey All, question for you. What is your favorite tool/method for scanning a website for specific tags? Specifically (as my situation dictates now) for canonical tags? I am looking for a tool that is flexible, hopefully free, and highly customizable (for instance, you can specify the tag to look for). I like the concept of using google docs with the import xml feature but as you can only use 50 of those commands at a time it is very limiting (http://www.distilled.co.uk/blog/seo/how-to-build-agile-seo-tools-using-google-docs/). I do have a campaign set up using the tools which is great! but I need something that returns a response faster and can get data from more than 10,000 links. Our cms unfortunately puts out some odd canonical tags depending on how a page is rendered and I am trying to catch them quickly before it gets indexed and causes problems. Eventually I would also like to be able to scan for other specific tags, hence the customizable concern. If we have to write a vb script to get it into excel I suppose we can do that. Cheers, Josh

What SeoMoz tools should I use to track the sucess of my SEO efforts and find possible linking partners?
HI All, I am a new user to SEO moz pro and I have a few questions I hope you can help me with. We are adding a new product category to an existing site and I am wondering what tools to use to track our SEO efforts to build ranking for these new products. I have already started a campaign that tracks the ranking of our primary keywords but I am wondering if there are other tools I should be using as well. Currently our SEO strategy is centered around link building. I have been approaching sites that have content related to our products and offering to write articles, guest blogs, and create educational resources that benefit the sites users and have specific anchor text linking back to our site. Since we are trying to build rank for a new category of products should I be linking to the general product category page or should I try to link to sub categories or individual products? Also I have used the juicy link finder to help me identify related sites that I can approach but I haven't received very many good leads. Is there a more specific way to use the tool or another tool that I should try? If you have any suggestions about other SEO strategies/activities that we should be pursuing please share your ideas! Thanks!
