Noindex nofollow issue
-
Hi,
For some reason 2 pages on my website, time to time get noindex nofollow tags
they disappear from search engine, i have to log in my thesis wp theme and uncheck box for "noindex" "nofollow" and them update, in couple days my website is back up.
here is screen shot http://screencast.com/t/A6V6tIr2Cb6
Is that something in thesis theme that cause the problem? even though i
unchecked the box and updated but its still stays checked
http://screencast.com/t/TnjDcYfsH4sq
appreciated for your help!

Craig thanks for your help anyways .

Strange one that, especially if it is only 2 pages that this happens too ! You should get on the wordpress forum and ask there, as that is probably the best place to get a quick and honest answer.
You could have been hacked and a dodgy file left on the website, although i do like wordpress, i believe it is vulnerable to such moves.

The thesis theme is up to date, plugins too, its some thing else that could be causing this problem,

Tony
hard for anyone to say whether it is the theme, or maybe one of your wordpress plugins or something could be causing this.
I take it you have the latest version of wordpress installed too, as there could be issues if you do not keep up to date with the latest versions as they regularly update.
Same goes with the theme, many themes i have regularly update them, which fixes bugs etc.

So for here it is https://www.tidy-books.co.uk/shop-with-us/sort-by/price/sort-direction/desc"/> but should be https://www.tidy-books.co.uk/shop-with-us"/> secondly with have a lot of duplicate title tags mainly caused from the blog and the above problem see-> http://prntscr.com/b2t9xe but regarding the blog we have an issue where 2 canonical appearing for example this page
Technical SEO | | tidybooks
https://www.tidy-books.co.uk/blog/page/19/ there are 2 canonical links appearing https://www.tidy-books.co.uk/blog/page/19/"/> we want it to be this
https://www.tidy-books.co.uk/blog/"/> Thirdly

I've disallowed directory in robots.txt as shown here -> http://prntscr.com/b2tbc5 is that correct? any help would be great Just to let you know we use magento v1.7 we use SEO suite ultimate extension and we use fishpigs wordpress extension thanks0 -
Robots.txt vs. meta noindex, follow
Hi guys, I wander what your opinion is concerning exclution via the robots.txt file.
Technical SEO | | AdenaSEO
Do you advise to keep using this? For example: User-agent: *
Disallow: /sale/*
Disallow: /cart/*
Disallow: /search/
Disallow: /account/
Disallow: /wishlist/* Or do you prefer using the meta tag 'noindex, follow' instead?
I keep hearing different suggestions.
I'm just curious what your opinion / suggestion is. Regards,

Noindex large productpages on webshop to counter Panda
A Dutch webshop with 10.000 productpages is experiencing lower rankings and indexation. Problems started last october, a little while after the panda and penguin update. One of the problems diagnosed is the lack of unique content. Many of the productpages lack a description and some are variants of eachother. (color, size, etc). So a solution could be to write unique descriptions and use rel canonical to concentrate color/size variations to one productpage. There is however no capacity to do this on short notice. So now I'm wondering if the following is effective. Exclude all productpages via noindex, robots.txt. IN the same way as you can do with search pages. The only pages left for indexation are homepage and 200-300 categorypages. We then write unique content and work on the ranking of the categorypages. When this works the product pages are rewritten and slowly reincluded, category by category. My worry is the loss of ranking for productpages. ALthoug the ranking is minimal currently. My second worry is the high amount of links on category pages that lead to produtpages that will be excluded rom google. Thirdly, I am wondering if this works at all. using noindex on 10.000 productpages consumes crawl budget and dillutes the internal link structure. What do you think?

Redundant Hostnames Issue in GA
I noticed another post on this, but I have another question. I am getting this message from Analytics: Property http://www.example.com is receiving data from redundant hostnames. Consider setting up a 301 redirect on your website, or make a search and replace filter that strips "www." from hostnames. Examples of redundant hostnames: example.com, www.example.com. We don't have a 301 in place that manages this and I am quite concerned about handling that the right way. We do have a canonical on our homepage that says: rel="canonical" href="http://www.example.com/" /> I asked on another site how to safely set up our 301 and I got this response: RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www.example.com$ [NC]
Technical SEO | | TheCraig
RewriteRule ^ http://www.example.com%{REQUEST_URI} [R=301,L,NE] Is this the best way of handling it? Are there situations where this would not be the best way? We do have a few subdomains like beta.example.com in use and have a rather large site, so I just want to make sure I get it right. Thanks for your help! Craig0 -
All images are noindex will opening this at once be an issue?
Hi, All images are noindex will opening this at once be an issue? Not sure how a few months ago all my images were set as noindex which i realized last week. We have 20K images which were indexed fine but now when i check Site:sitename it shows 10 or 12 and the inspect element via Chrome i see the noindex is set for all images. We have been renaming the images and adding ALT tags for most of them and would it be an issue if we change the noindex in one shot or should we do them few at a time? Thanks

How to change noindex to index?
Hey, I've recently upgraded to a pro SEOmoz account and have realised i have 14574 issues to do with 'blocked by meta-robot' and that 'This page is being kept out of the search engine indexes by the meta tag , which may have a value of "noindex", keeping this page out of the index.' How can i change this so my pages get indexed? I read somewhere that i need to change my privacy settings but that thread was 3 years old and now the WP Dashboard has updated.. Please let me know Many thanks, Jamie P.s Im using WordPress 3.5 And i have the XML sitemap plugin And i have no idea where to look for this robots.txt file..

Htaccess issue
I have some urls in my site due to a rating counter. These are like: domain.com/?score=4&rew=25
Technical SEO | | sesertin
domain.com/?score=1&rew=28
domain.com/?score=5&rew=95 These are all duplicate content to my homepage and I want to 301 redirect them there. I tried so far: RedirectMatch 301 /[a-z]score[a-z] http://domain.com
RedirectMatch 301 /.score. http://domain.com
RedirectMatch 301 /^score$.* http://domain.com
RedirectMatch 301 /.^score$.* http://domain.com
RedirectMatch 301 /[a-z]score[a-z] http://domain.com
RedirectMatch 301 score http://domain.com
RedirectMatch 301 /[.]score[.] http://domain.com
RedirectMatch 301 /[.]score[.] http://domain.com
RedirectMatch 301 /[a-z,0-9]score[a-z,0-9] http://domain.com
RedirectMatch 301 /[a-z,0-9,=,&]score[a-z,0-9,=,&] http://domain.com
RedirectMatch 301 /[a-z,0-9,=&?/.]score[a-z,0-9,=&] http://domain.com None of them works. Anybody? Solution? Would be very much appriciated0 -
Two company websites - should 1 be nofollow?
We are an automotive dealership that is required to keep a manufacturer appointed website. It's pretty terrible so we are having a new site developed in addition to that. We plan on transferring our current domain name to the new site but I am not sure what to do with the older, less useful site. Should I try to have both sites appear in the search results to capture more traffic? Or is that inefficient? Should I make the new site no follow?
