Drop in domain authority for myself and all my competitors, was something changed?
-
On the 1/11 report all four websites dropped, and starting on 2/12 they all dropped a few more times. These are all large companies who are completely white hat. Was something changed? The reason I asked is all of our linking C-Blocks dropped as well. Mine dropped from 114 to 42 and I have no idea why. All of my competitors dropped as well, is this related?
-
We never had any link building strategies. External followed links has gone from 346-402. The site had amazing seo completely by luck, the site was redone in November and so there has been renewed focus on seo the last few months.
-
Focus on external followed links gained over time. If you can show links are being built that are quality then that should outweigh the lack I'm the other metrics bc you could be losing ground bc of old link strategies that are still weighing you down.
-
I understand but MozRank and MozTrust have both dropped as well. Essentially everything on the competitive analysis has dropped the last few months and nobody has been able to tell me why. So when my boss look at that analysis and everything is trending down it looks bad for me.

Keep doing what you have been doing and accrue links in the right way. Produce excellent content for your site and guest content and earn high quality citations from reputable websites.
If you don't mind me saying - I find it strange that your job performance is tied to metrics that can be put out of your control, due to fluctuations in the way the crawler updates and at the intervals it does. Doesn't seem very tangible to me when compared to traffic and/or conversions, which I'm sure you're tracking too. I'd only point out how the fluctuation has effected your competitors and potentially sites across the board. If you have extended a 'lead' over some competitors, or closed a 'gap', in terms of PA/DA, try and report that.
-
My job performance is tied to these stats. So even though organic traffic is the same it still doesn't look good for me. If I just tell him its random fluctuations he will probably ask why hasn't it fluctuated up. The total drop for domain authority was 35 to 30. Any ideas on how to boost that?

One of the Mozketeers will be able to answer this in more detail, but it will mainly be down with how the Moz bot crawls, rather than anything to do with what you have done. For the record, I've seen drops for my sites and our competitors too.
If we look at the update history, you can see that this month saw 142 million root domains crawled and 802 billion links, a fall from 149 million and 829 billion, respectively, in February. This might go some way towards accounting for the drops.
But there's nothing really to be worried about if it has kept things mainly on par. It's beyond your control in any case so don't worry too much!

Question about SEO and domains
Hello, Over time we have purchased many domain names that relate to our business. Let us say we sell chairs of type A, chairs of type B, Tables of Type C etc. We also have a main web site (main domain) which has been functioning for many years and is ranked well but not great. Since we have domain chairtypeA.com and chairtypeB.com I was thinking of putting them to good use as follows. STRATEGY A a) Create the domain as a parallel domain but is mainly informational - it talks about chair type A, its history, what to look for etc. It has the same IP address as main domain b) Have all the links on the page be directly linked to the MAIN site- so if you are on page for ChairtypeA and want to see it in a set you just click a link and it takes you to the main site. c) The look and feel of the ChairtypeA site is exactly the same as the main site - in fact except for the Heading, title and content the whole framework is from the main site. My hope is that if people are looking for chairtypeA, we would rank and attract customers. Plus it would use up some of the domain names we have purchased. THE OTHER ALTERNATIVE (Strategy B) is a) Create a domain for chairtypeA parallel to main domain (same IP address) b) redirect it to subfolder in main domain c) refer to the pages also as maindomain/chairtypeA (here is where it is no longer purely parallel) I have 3 objectives a) Use my purchased domain names b) Focus on certain products (liek ChairtypeA) c) Overall increase visibility and ranking Please give me any feedback which indicates whether Strategy A or Strategy B is more effective, or if any has negative consequences. Or you could suggest Strategy C - a completely new approach. Thanks Sam

Competitor Ranks Highly Despite LOTS of Duplication
One of my Moz campaigns tracks my main competitor. I can't get over the fact that this competitor continues to rank well despite having thousands of duplication issues while I currently have less than 10. Our websites are similar both structurally and product-wise. The two images attached include OSE comparisons for the keyword "kraft envelopes". My competitor ranks #2 for the term, while I rank #9. I don't get why! And again, looking from a top-level perspective, MOZ shows that my competitor's website is full of duplication issues and other problems while my site is healthy as a horse. All responses are greatly appreciated. QmSlfET.jpg 9CDny60.jpg

SeoMoz: Competitive domain analysis report doesn't add up?
Hi, When I check OSE against the Competitive Domain Analysis report in my account the numbers are way off. If the CDA report was 100%, OSE is showing 30% of that. I'm looking at linking root domains with no filters applied. Is the data not pulled from the same db? Thanks.

Big changes in site titles
So as I pour though some of the diagnostics data for over 100,000 pages of my site I see thousands of page title that "could" be changed. Could this cause some lost traffic for a while due to the big changes?

Can I add more than one domain in a campaign?
There 5, 12 and 30 campaigns limit in Pro, Pro plus and Elite plan. Does that It mean that I the number of domain we can monitor per plan is equal to the number of allowed campaigns? Lets say I have 50 domains and I want to track them all. Can I manage them like the way Google Analytics do. Thanks

How do I fix a duplicate content error with a top level domain?
Hi, I'm getting a duplicate content error from the SEOmoz crawler due to an issue with trailing slashes. It's showing www.milengo.com and www.milengo.com/ as having duplicate page titles. However I'm pretty sure this has been fixed in the .htaccess file since if you type in the domain with a trailing slash it automatically redirects to the domain without a trailing slash, so this shouldn't be an issue. I'm stuck here. Any ideas? Thanks. Rob

Is there anyway i can change a campaign setting from root domain to domain?
Is there anyway i can change a campaign setting once it has been established from root domain to domain? I could just start a new campaign but that seems a bit of a pain.
