How come a site with low PR and DA is first on everything?
-
Hi All,
I've encountered a site that has PR3 on most important pages (and less on others but no more on any) and DA according to MOZ in the low 40's however it is first on everything on his niche (many keywords).
How is it possible?
Since it is possible, what is the importance of these metrics anyhow?
Thanks

I'm having a similar problem with a site that has popped up as a #1 ranking - all of the links in their profile are really spammy. I've reported to Google webspam a few times and just focusing on a building better links for us.
I think a "more" exact match domain has been at the root of this

A low PA or DA doesnt mean it cant rank in Search Engines. The site might be exact match domain having an advantage over others, It might have less competition, further it might have optimized the keywords on site very well. moz Trust can tell how spammy they are! PA and DA are there to judge authority of the page.
A sudden good link with great quality might increase the Google ranking of a site but in that short amount of time, the PA and DA might still be low.
I have noticed many low DA sites doing top 5 rankings in Google. Some of above mentioned factors are the reasons behind some of those site's good rankings.

I think there are two ways of looking in to thinks...
One is what Fedrico discussed in detail that the websites who do spamming usually get tons and tons of link from low quality websites so their PR and DA is low and as they somehow manipulated Google they will not stay in ranking for longer period of time... so may be when you are looking at the websites it’s their lucky time...
There is another way you can think about this... he must have a powerful and strong on-page optimization that Google likes it and rank it against the targeted key phrases. In most cases, if you have your on page SEO properly optimized you can win your competitor even with less links...

I find Moz numbers much more accurate than Google rankings.
There could be several reasons why other site is ranking higher if you have done all the right things. The most common one is link spam (which will backfire to them later).
I've seen several of those cases that you mention, and usually are pages that come up, stay for 1 - 6 month in the first places and then disappear.
The real problem is that usually, the person behind that page does the exact same thing with another Website, while you keep loosing money. Behind all that, Google, which apparently can't sort that thing out.
You are only left with reporting those sites and, if you are really lucky, someone from Google will look into it and take the appropriate action.

What to do with a site of >50,000 pages vs. crawl limit?
What happens if you have a site in your Moz Pro campaign that has more than 50,000 pages? Would it be better to choose a sub-folder of the site to get a thorough look at that sub-folder? I have a few different large government websites that I'm tracking to see how they are fairing in rankings and SEO. They are not my own websites. I want to see how these agencies are doing compared to what the public searches for on technical topics and social issues that the agencies manage. I'm an academic looking at science communication. I am in the process of re-setting up my campaigns to get better data than I have been getting -- I am a newbie to SEO and the campaigns I slapped together a few months ago need to be set up better, such as all on the same day, making sure I've set it to include www or not for what ranks, refining my keywords, etc. I am stumped on what to do about the agency websites being really huge, and what all the options are to get good data in light of the 50,000 page crawl limit. Here is an example of what I mean: To see how EPA is doing in searches related to air quality, ideally I'd track all of EPA's web presence. www.epa.gov has 560,000 pages -- if I put in www.epa.gov for a campaign, what happens with the site having so many more pages than the 50,000 crawl limit? What do I miss out on? Can I "trust" what I get? www.epa.gov/air has only 1450 pages, so if I choose this for what I track in a campaign, the crawl will cover that subfolder completely, and I am getting a complete picture of this air-focused sub-folder ... but (1) I'll miss out on air-related pages in other sub-folders of www.epa.gov, and (2) it seems like I have so much of the 50,000-page crawl limit that I'm not using and could be using. (However, maybe that's not quite true - I'd also be tracking other sites as competitors - e.g. non-profits that advocate in air quality, industry air quality sites - and maybe those competitors count towards the 50,000-page crawl limit and would get me up to the limit? How do the competitors you choose figure into the crawl limit?) Any opinions on which I should do in general on this kind of situation? The small sub-folder vs. the full humongous site vs. is there some other way to go here that I'm not thinking of?

Why has my MozTrust & DA dropped
Hi The company i work for are in the middle of relaunching our product, so during this time we have not been generating much traffic to the site. We are still getting about 800 SEO visits a month, however, as we aren't doing email marketing our site traffic overall has dropped. I have noticed that since October or MozTrust and Domain Authority seems to be dropping. Our DA was at 18 then in the space of a few weeks has dropped to 10. Our Moztrust was at about 3 and now is at 0. Our links to the site seems to be disappearing to according to Moz, however other back linking website are saying they are still there. Could someone maybe shed some light on what i may have done wrong to lose these two things and so quickly. This all happened mid to late October. During the Hummingbird release we were fine! We have also just updated out website with lots of new content. In fact increased it 4x. There are great internal links throughout the site. Thank you

How do you solve this issue? Pages coming up as [No Title] in Open Site Explorer
I see this when researching top pages. I know for a fact that the pages have title tags that appear to be fine on google and our site, so I'm not sure what the [No Titlle] means or why it's appearing in Open Site Explorer. Thanks!

Third crawl of my sites back to 250 pages
Hi all, I've been waiting some days for the third crawl of my sites, but SEOMOZ only crawled 277 pages. The next phrase appeared on my crawl report: Pages Crawled: 277 | Limit: 250 My last 2 crawls were of about 10K limit. Any idea? Kind regards, Simon.

Reporting Low internal links to Homepage
I am having a strange problem on one of our websites, I am currently comparing ourselves to our competition as it appears we are underranking. The one difference I can see is that our internal links are very low. They are currently at 22 to the homepage and section pages comapred to our competition which have a few hundred. The size of our site is around 800 pages and they all have a homepage link so I cannot see why it is not reading them. Any help would be appreciated the website url is http://www.trampolinesshop.co.uk/

Link from Dr. Oz web site not being seen, what are we doing wrong?
Newbie so this may be SEO 101... Quick back story: My wife Lauri is a Dream Expert who has been on over 5,000 radio shows, TV shows like Good Morning America, the Today show, the View, in major magazines and newspapers, the list goes on and on, I'm not bragging actually the opposite. Lauri barely exists online and to top it off we don't seem to be getting any "link juice" from some big sites that have linked to us. Here is just one example of many: Our site: theDreamZone.com Here is a page on Dr Oz site that links to us, anchor text at top right "Click here": When you use On site Explorer this link isn't there, what are we doing wrong? Our plan is to build a new site (LauriTheDreamExpert.com) and get these links and many others pointing to us correctly so she can get the exposure she's earned. Lauri was also on the Dr Oz TV show : Watch it if you like. Thanks for any wisdom, Mike

I need a tool/tools to extract keywords from say 50 sites in one niche and then check the rank tor those sites
This is for telemarketing of seo services I want to have some insight into an industry before I call them could this be done with the adwords keyword tool api and then exported to excel. It would also be nice to have data on backlinks say from seo moz opensite explorer.. Its just that the research you do before you even call a potential client is so time consuming and you can never really check to see how they are ranking for there main keywords manually. We are trying to automate as much of this initial research as possible... Any Idea's Thanks

Does it really take 3-7 days to crawl a site?
This is what you say on your website: Please note: depending on the size and speed of your site, it may take between 3 and 7 days to complete your crawl. Are you guys kidding? This is unacceptable for almost all of my deadlines, and I suspect 99% of the SEO world... you can fly to the moon faster.
