Searching for SEO/SEM with eCommerce Experience
-
I've debated on whether I should ask this on the Q&A forum. Many times I have started to write it, then changed my mind. So today, after sending another round of emails out to potential SEM and SEO consultants and getting zero response, I said what the heck and decided to post it.
I will point the finger at myself and say I must be doing something wrong in my approach and the way I am seeking out consultants or maybe what I am not saying. However, I cannot seem to get SEO companies to return my phone calls or emails. Is my company too small? Are most of the companies recommended here too busy with other work to worry about following up? Is my company and brand not sexy enough to deal with? Am I coming across wrong in my emails and phone calls?
With that being said, I decided to write a post here and clearly state some basic and general requirements in hope someone interested will respond. I would be more than happy to answer and specific questions about my company, budget, etc. in a PM.
I am looking for an SEO firm or consultants who:
-
Will deal with small businesses with revenue under $2M. I have budgeted for this and am ready to start a project immediately.
-
Have experience and a successful track record working with eCommerce sites who sell a large number of products.
-
Interested in a long term relationship that will produce long lasting, durable results.
-
Try to understand my business and what it will take to make grow my ONLINE profitability.
I look forward to speaking to anyone interested.
Jake

Thanks Everyone who responded. I got two PM's and two companies to get it touch with.
Thanks again.

Hi Jake
We are a UK SEO company that has worked with eCommerce companies both from a point of view of training people on how to complete the SEO on their website themselves as well as completing the SEO project for them to help them achieve their business goals.
We would be delighted if you would consider us. Our email address is info@mblsolutions.co.uk.

Hi Jake,
I am new to using Moz as a product, and SEO is a continued learning experience for me.
I would be happy to work with you so that you can come back to this question and tell these guys how I helped you, not just because I am a kick ass SEO but a customer service ninja.
I am not concerned by your budget, but interested in your current approach and the results you are receiving.
Kind Regards
Jeremy

I don't think your company is too small at all. Revenue under 2 million?! Please and thank you!
Goodness.. Are SEO firms truly that busy right now? Or is it laziness? What's goin on here, people?!
-
Thanks Jesse.
Hey, I accept that my approach in how I am communicating could be way off. Maybe people could respond and let me know that a company as small as mine just isn't worth the response but I am surprised.
I have written emails to approximately 10 different recommended companies, whether through a direct PM or through the contact us page on their website and have gotten ZERO responses over the last 4 days.--sounds like I am in the wrong business!
-
Oh sorry
As Jesse says, that's surprising to hear ...
-
Hi John and thank you for the response. I was not very clear in my post but my frustration stemmed from querying companies on the recommended page.
-
I don't have any suggestions to offer you at the moment, but I'm baffled that you are having this much trouble. You are willing to pay for a service... that should be all it takes! I work in SEO for a company, not an SEO company. Therefore I can't help you. But if I were freelance or working for a marketing consultant I would have replied to your email within an hour of receiving it!
What in the world is going on...! Good luck to you. I think posting your query here was a good move, ultimately. At least no harm can come of it.

SEO Class/Course/Certification
Hello, I'm located in the US and I'm looking for **good **SEO classes or courses. Something that provides certification when completed, if possible. This is something that my employer wants to do. I know MOZ offers a lot of information here and has a course as well, but I'm looking for something that is in person. I tend to learn better that way. I see some things pop up when I search, but I believe most of it is just junk. I am looking for something that would basically go from intermediate to advanced. Thank you!

70 sites on one instance/server negative for SEO?
Hi Guys, One of our clients is building individual sites for each store they have, which in total would be 70 different websites on one server (they used the word instance). I was wondering if there could be negative issues with this for SEO purposes? Cheers, Mike

International SEO Question
_The company I work for has a website www.example.com that ranks very well in English speaking countries - US, UK, CA. For legal reasons, we now need to create www.example.co.uk to be accessible and rank in google.co.uk. Obviously we want this change to be as smooth as possible with little effect on rankings in the UK. We have two options that we're talking through at the moment - Use the hreflang tag on both the .com and the .co.uk to tell Google which site to rank in each country. My worry with this is that we might lose our rankings in the UK as it will be a brand new site with little to no links pointing to it. 301 redirect to the .co.uk based on UK IP addresses. I'm skeptical about this. As a 301 passes most of the link juice, I'm not sure how Google would treat this type of thing - would the .com lose ranking? So my questions are - would we lose ranking in the UK if we use option 1? Would option 2 work? What would you do? Any help is appreciated._

How important is the optional <priority>tag in an XML sitemap of your website? Can this help search engines understand the hierarchy of a website?</priority>
Can the <priority>tag be used to tell search engines the hierarchy of a site or should it be used to let search engines know which priority to we want pages to be indexed in?</priority>

How deep should ecommerce categories be?
Hello, I have a client with 300 products. He's thinking of about 20 main categories built mainly with the user in mind. How deep should each category be? For example, 3 clicks from the home page, 18 products on 2 pages (9 products per page)? or 2 clicks from the home page simplifying as many categories as possible to get them on one page? or what is the best practice for product indexing and usability? Thanks.

If I hired you/your company to do my SEO ...
If i hired you or your company to do SEO for my site (http://goo.gl/XUH3f) what would be the first steps you'd take? I'm pretty sure i've covered all of the basics myself, I'm just left trying to figure out what i should do next... rankings have been going up and down for the last few weeks, but even when they're up, they're not high enough 🙂 (and then they go back down anyway) ... I know some of you are going to say build links, please at least give me an example of one or two sites you'd try to get to link to mine... I'm open to any advice or feedback as I'm just a website owner who's been doing their own SEO & learning on the fly... Thanks a lot!

SEO Company Referral
I am looking for a great US based SEO company referral. I try to do as much as I can on my end but the more I learn, then more I find I need help to do a great job. Lately running the business takes most of my time, and we need a team who really specializes in SEO. Can anyone recommend a SEO company with a great reputation, someone who has done great work for you in the past? I get many people contacting me with SEO promises, but I need some advice from someone with more experience than me. I appreciate all of your insights.
