Please help me critique my friends site
-
Hi All,
I've regularly helped others on this forum when they've asked for tips on how to improve a specific site's SEO. Now I'm asking for the favour in return
My friend has come to me with a site (http://www.swishplastic.com.au) and asked me to help with SEO and on-page optimisation. I've got a few of my own ideas but there may be a few key things I'm overlooking. If anyone could give a few pointers, it would be much appreciated!
Thanks!

Thanks Andrew. I definitely agree regarding the white text.
Was hoping for a few more answers
Here's what I had in mind, please let me know if you think I'm way off:
- Having a blog on site and a blog excerpt on the homepage with a snippet of the latest post (cocktail recipes, hosting parties with the correct glasses, polycarbonate vs regular glass etc) (unfortunately can only create on a subdomain on bigcommerce)
- Increase the content on the homepage and add cocktail of the week, glass of the week, links to individual glasses etc
- Making the main homepage banners smaller in height to move more content up above the fold
- Adding more content on the products page - it's very light on
- Highlight the addition of their new online store more - ie have a link in the header in the empty black space that links directly to their store. Also highlight it in the text below the main banners
- Change colour of add to cart button on individual product pages
- Add trust/security logos to products/cart
- Expand on FAQs and About Us pages - also include pages for shipping/returns
- They have social media accounts - link to them in the header
- Increase number of inbound links - any ideas on this?
Thanks

The white text on the page is pretty hard to read. If you definitely want to keep the white on black look, I would try to space out that content a bit more and use a larger font size.

Launch of improved site
Hi, Just want to ask you guys if i have missed something in my planning. We have done a migration from Ithemes Exchange to woocommerce. The complete migration are done on our dev server. It has an exakt setup as our live one. My plan is to change our live version with a backup from our migrated and finished site from our dev site. All of our product links will be intact with accept from some that we have combined in to new ones, the ones that are changed has been redirected with a 301. Will this way of launching our site effect our ranking/seo in some way? Thankful for any thoughts about this one! // Jonas

Making a site mobile friendly
Hey Mozzers, Im having a go at making our site mobile friendly without enlisting the help of developers and incorporating additional costs. I am ok with most of it as its just CSS work bar the odd occasion when i need to reposition some elements within the code. However, i have found myself wanting to use display:none {} on many elements that are just not practical on a mobile site. Some pages may have to hide substantial content. Would this be considered an issue or will google just see it as me hiding impractical elements for a different sized screen. I have googled this question for the past hour and there is a whole bunch of conflicting advice. As always, Many thanks

Off-site company blog linking to company site or blog incorporated into the company site?
Kind of a SEO newbie, so be gentle. I'm a beginner content strategist at a small design firm. Currently, I'm working with a client on a website redesign. Their current website is a single page dud with a page authority of 5. The client has a word press blog with a solid URL name, a domain authority of 100 and page authority of 30. My question is this: would it be better for my client from an SEO perspective to: Re-skin their existing blog and link to the new company website with it, hopefully passing on some of its "Google Juice,"or... Create a new blog on their new website (and maybe do a 301 redirect from the old blog)? Or are there better options that I'm not thinking of? Thanks for whatever help you can give a newbie. I just want to take good care of my client.

Site Navigation
Hello, I have some questions about best practices with site navigation & internal linking. I'm currently assisting aplossoftware.com with its navigation. The site has about 200 pages total. They currently have a very sparse header with a lot of links in the footer. The three most important keywords they want to rank for are nonprofit accounting software, church accounting software and file 990 online. 1. What are your thoughts about including a drop down menu in the header for the different products? (they have 3 main products). This would allow us to include a few more links in the header and give more real estate to include full keywords in anchor text. 2. They have a good blog with content that gets regularly updated. Currently it's linked in the footer and gets a tiny amount of visits. What are your thoughts about including it as a link in the header instead? 3. What are best practices with using (or not using) no follow with site navigation and footer links? How about with links to social media pages like Facebook/Twitter? Any other thoughts/ideas about the site navigation for this site (www.aplossoftware.com) would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I am at the moment got solicitiors involved ref trade mark of a name and we are trying to prove that this name was being used before the trade mark application. A company has gone ahead with a trade mark in full knowledge that this is a common name and we have been told if we can prove that the name was being used before it was registered then we can knock out the trade mark. We have been told there is an internet archive but i cannot find one, can anyone please let me know how i can look at sites from before 2010 and see about if they were using this word to help our case.
