B2b pest control social media strategy. Any ideas?
-
Our client is a b2b pest control company.
they are making software and sell leads and some day want to rank for bed bugs.
they want to get into social media but I am having the hardest time coming up with ideas.
Can you help? -
You're right that people may not be fans of pest control like they would Pepsi, but you can create interesting content that people will share (worst infestation photos, top 10 most common pests, before/after). The goal with social will be to share and disseminate content, not direct Facebook fans for the company.
I do agree that social should be a part of what should be a more dedicated website content strategy.

The social media evangelists are going to give me the thumbs down.
For a B2B rat killer / bug man I don't think that a restaurant owner, hotels, bed and bath shop, clothing store, or just about any biz will want to be chattering on your FB page.
Seriously!
However, I like the attitude that makes them want to do this. IF they were my client I would instead try to channel that enthusiasm into website content.
If they think that FB is important thing to do then go to some of their competitors FB pages to see if they are using it effectively.

Don't let B2B mean it has to be boring or geared specifically for a business audience. Focus on blog topics, infographics or other interesting pieces of content on where bed bugs are the worst, what bed bugs do, why you can't get rid of bed bugs without professional help, etc.
Google doesn't hold separate indexes for B2B and B2C so you will need to compete for terms like "bed bugs" with consumer facing companies that are spending a lot of time, money and effort on ranking for that term also.
For social media I would stay tuned to Google News alerts on bed bugs stories (there will be at least one a day I would think) and then use that to post online. Become an online expert in general bed bugs info and then let that expertise tie over naturally to how your company plays in the pest control space.

Does Facebook Messages count as a social signal factor?
Hi, We know that social signals are usually referred to as a webpage's collective likes, comments or shares. But what about the Facebook messages generated from the messenger plugin on a web page? Especially on a business page, if one business page receives hundreds of Facebook messages through a landing page or blog page, does that count as social shares? And how effective is social signals are for a website in 2020? Although social engagement is always good for any website, my question is, how logical is it to purchase "social signal gigs" from konker or Fiverr or other gig markets? We run a social media marketing company in Australia, our website: https://www.playchat.com.au and we get a lot of messages every day through the messenger add on from our home page. Will that make any difference whatsoever? Looking forward to hearing from you. I appreciate any help you can provide.

Facebook Likes, Google +1s tactic - is this a good idea
Hello, For our eCommerce site, we're considering doing the following: When people call in to place an order by phone, we take their order and tell them while we have them on the phone that if they click the Facebook Like button and Google +1 button on our site's home page, we'll knock $3 off their total. We would just show them where the buttons are and refresh our screen to make sure the count went up by one like and one +1 when the customer said that they pressed the buttons. Then, we would continue with their phone order and just knock off $3.00 I may not do this just because it may be grey hat, but it seems 100% safe forever. If you recommend against doing this, can you think of any 100% white hat way to do the same thing? Thanks.

Wordpress Socialize Plugin giving me 400+ 302s. Should I be concerned?
Looking at my report and saw I had over 400 302s. When I looked where they came from, it seems it's from a plugin called socialize sending stuff to Facebook. Does it matter?

How do I control the thumbnail image for a link on a Facebook post?
Hi, All! I've spent about an hour working on this with no success, so I thought I would ask the community: How do you tell Facebook which image to put in for the thumbnail on a link you're posting? And I would like it to be a different image for each post, and I don't want to have to deal with programming PHP (the main solutions I saw). I'm on a Wordpress based site, and I've tried putting images in as the featured image, made sure they weren't huge (under 200x200), made sure they were .jpeg... and the only thing that Facebook offers me as a thumbnail is a generic "green globe" image that I don't believe comes from my site at all. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Can you recommend a social media guide?
We have a summer intern we need to give a handbook/guide on social media strategies, best practices, etc. Any recommendations? It can be free or paid, as long as it is accurate and up-to-date!
