Not getting foreign characters in crawl diagnostics .csv
-
The crawl diagnostics .csv file is showing high-ascii characters instead of the correct language (foreign language website) e.g. Vietnamese, Chinese (both kinds), etc. Is there a way to get this right?
-
Glad it helped! I think the issue might be with excel more than Moz, its handling of utf8 csv's has been terrible since day 1! I think there is a way you can use the excel import data function to get the same result but I never had much luck with it and the open office trick seemed less painful.

Open Office did the trick! Thank you. Would be nice if the Moz app could do UTF-8 natively.

Hi Ash,
I had this problem too and here is how I solved it (there might be better ways).
If the characters are in the page titles, meta tags etc you can open the csv file in open office and then choose save as xls and it will save an excel file which you can then open in excel and the utf8 characters will read ok. This method works great for titles etc but does not decode foreign characters in the urls themselves.
If the characters are in the url then a way I have found is to download this pretty awesome excel addon (site is in german, I used google translate to figure out what was going on). Then you have some new functions in excel where you can create a 2nd column next to the url column, apply the url decode function to the first column and get readable urls in the second. This addon saved me sooo much time and trouble! It works for greek which I need it for, I assume it will work for chinese also. Let me know if you need more detailed instructions, it took a bit of trial and error to figure out the exact moves needed to get the results you want.
Hope that helps!

Crawl Issue Question
Hey guys, I have run the crawl on my WordPress site and Moz finds a "Critical crawl issue" for my site on a broken link (404 error): mydomain.com/**%25s **, I can't seem to be able to find such a link anyway and I have run the website through several other tools that scan for broken links and such and there is no such result.

This link doesn't exist on my site at all and I don't know where Moz got it from, I have made changes to my site and recrawled several times and the specific error persists. Does anyone have any ideas?0 -
Site Crawl 1-page 301 status error but httpstatus.io says its 403
I am trying to run a site crawl for my website and MOZ is only resulting in 1 page crawled with the home page URL Status Code of 301. However when I run it in httpstatus.io it is giving me a 403 status error. Im curious as to why MOZ is saying its a 301 and httpstatus.io is saying 403. Is there anything I can do in MOZ first to get the site crawled before asking my developers to look into the 403 error?

Crawl Test is now On-Demand Crawl!
If you've been with Moz a while, you may have used our old Crawl Test tool. A year ago we launched an all new, campaign-based Site Crawl (with an entirely rebuild crawl engine), but Crawl Test fell into disrepair and we haven't had a solid tool for crawling non-campaign domains. I'm happy to announce that we've just launched an all new On-Demand Crawl, built on the new Site Crawl engine, with a UI that's focused on quick insights. Moz Pro Standard tier customers can run up to 5 crawls per month at 3,000 page per crawl (crawls are saved for 90 days), with per-month limits increasing at higher levels. Most On-Demand Crawls should run in a few minutes, making the tool perfect to get quick insights for sales meetings, vetting prospects, or analyzing competitors. We've written up a sample case study or logged-in customers can go directly to On-Demand Crawl. Try it out -- we'd love to hear your use cases (either here or in the blog post comments).

Moz Crawl Report Increase in Errors?
Has anyone else noticed a huge increase over the past couple weeks in crawl issues in their dashboards? Without being able to see historical data week over week, I can't tell what's been added. Is this some update with the tool? I'm not seeing any health issues with this feature on the Moz Health page, it just seems strange that I'm seeing this across all our accounts.

Site Crawl - MOz Pro
Hi There, When i look into my site crawl i have thousands of duplicate content issues. Now they are essentially product pages which are in multiple categories - however we have added the canonical tag so im confused as to why all of these are appearing as if there is an error, does the MOZ bot not take canonicals into account? Kind Regards Gemma

Mozbar - SERP Control Panel - Export to CSV - Update
Hi I asked a question on 22nd Sep and 16th October about Mozbar: "I have been exporting SERP results using the Mozbar, but I don't get PA and DA data even though this is shown in the SERP overlay. The data is shown in excel as being 'undefined'. Anyone else having this problem?" I was told that this was a known issue and a fix would be available within weeks. Is there any update on when this update is likely? Thanks again for your assistance. Neil

Moz crawl sees meta description but there are none
I have a new site I have run a starter crawl on. The crawl came back saying some of the pages do indeed have meta descriptions. When I go to the same page and use the Moz Chrome toolbar it says they do not have meta descriptions. I also know they do not have meta descriptions. Are there any instances in which the Moz crawler would see them when they are not there?
