HTML5 & the doc outline algorithm

My web team are currently working on an updated site using Drupal and have asked me the following question:
Is more than one H1 tag with the same value an issue for SEO with HTML5 and the doc outline algorithm?
Can anyone help with this please? I appriciate any responses.

HTML5 allows for multiple h1's in header groups - it's totally fine. Read more here: http://www.distilled.net/blog/seo/fixing-seo-problems-with-html5/

If the text in both of the two H1 tags makes your page more than 70% duplicate (that's an arbitrary number btw), I'd say you'd have an issue. I suspect this is going to be very unlikely and that you won't have a problem. I don't fully understand why you'd want to repeat the same text, but I'd encourage you to use variants of the keywords in the top h1.

If the different h1 tags are all about different subjects and they are in different sections then i think there should be no problem.:)

The sticking point which I am trying to address is 'multiple h1 headings with the same value', therefore, I think maybe I could of phrased the question better. This is the amended question:
So is having more than one h1 on a page with the same value going to have a negative SEO impact?
Currently in the templates, our duplicate h1 would be way further down in the page structure and therefore the first h1 creates the top level heading and the second the heading for a section lower down the page.
Any thoughts on this?

What would be the function of the multiple H1 tags on a single page?
The h1 tag should be used for the heading of the particular page is on. So it should be a short title for the entire page.If you need multiple h1 tags because you have several different subject within the page then you might think about splitting the content over several pages. This will help your rankings for those pages as well because they are more specialised around a certain subject.

Hi there, We have undergone a website redesign (mycompany.com) and our site is ready to go live however the new website is built on a different platform so all of our blog pages will not be copied over - to avoid a large web developer expense. Looking for list Pro's & Con's of removing Folder from URL?
Hi We have a sub-folder ("/shop-by-department/") which is pretty much useless on our site and I'm looking to remove it. But the team want a list of the Pro's & Con's in doing so. So for example I'll be changing www.example.ie/shop-by-department/furniture/beds/product-a to www.example.ie/furniture/beds/product-a I know there will be an intial hit as Google adjusts to the change but think it's definitely the way to go. I was lookng for a complete list of the Pro's & Con's to send onto the team. It'll be going to the traditional marketing (print, radio, etc.) too so can ve top-level points too. Hope you can help! We added hundreds of pages to our website & restructured the layout to include 3 additional locations within the sub-pages, same brand/domain name. How long could Google take to crawl/index the new pages and rank the keywords used within those pages?
We added hundreds of pages to our website & restructured the layout to include 3 additional locations within the sub-pages, same brand/domain name. The 3 locations old domains were redirected to their sites within our main brand domain. How long could Google take to crawl/index the new pages and rank the keywords used within those pages? And possibly increase our domain authority hopefully? We didn't want our brand spread out over multiple websites/domains on the internet. This also allowed for more content to be written on pages, per each of our locations service's, as well.

Need suggestion: What is the best internal linking structure for our website to gain in SEO & UX too?
Hi all, We have 3 different editions of our product we are selling with 20 features. 1st edition & 2nd edition comes with 15 features in which 10 are common in each edition. 3rd edition comes with all 20 features. Show new mobile site to 60% users & old mobile site to 40% users
Hi, We are planning to show new mobile site to 60% users & old mobile site to 40% users. We will show the old site to google crawler. Our old site has some interlinking through footer & content whereas the new site does not has it. We wanted to do this since our new site does not supports some browsers.
