Should i put a full article on my home page to get google to visit more

Hi, our site is www.in2town.co.uk and i am thinking of putting an article on my home page in the middle under where it says lifestyle news, and getting rid of the middle column and instead have the latest news there to try and get google to visit more.
I would like to know if you think this would look messy and not user friendly and if you think if i did do it would it get google to visit the site more often.
all day we are always adding articles but on the home page it only shows a few lines of the article so i am concerned that these few lines are not getting google interested in visiting our site more often.
we were on page one with our site but now since the upgrade we are on page eight so we are trying to combat this
The article would change each time we put a new article on the site. so the article could be on there for ten mins before a new one is there
any thoughts on this would be great

Content provides relevance; links and offsite references provide ranking ability and support relevance. It's those offsite factors to do the most influencing of your crawl rate. My suggestion is to focus less on the actual crawl rate and instead focus on learning who your audience members are, what their needs are and on using your writing skills to create content that they'll want to share. When you're doing that, your crawl rate will go up. Oh yeah, links will help with that too.

That was a very interesting article, i am just checking to make sure that my links are natural.
we get people linking to our sites because they like an article or the site but we have read about bad links which is used by people who want to drop your site rankings, i am not sure how to find these though.
What would be the best way to get google to visit your site more. would i be wasting my time by having an article on my home page which would change all the time to show fresh content on my home page, or is it enough that i am always adding new content to the site.

You hadn't mentioned the "upgrade" and if the site was recently re-designed, that could be a contributor to your issue and It may not be a penalty at all. On the penalty issue however, Google may tell you that no manual penalty has been assessed but that doesn't rule out an algorithmic penalty to your site--algorithmic penalties are not something that will verify.

Making that change isn't going to get the page indexed more often and crawl frequency probably isn't your primary problem. If you've been penalized, you're really going to need to sort out what the cause of penalty was if you're to recover from it effectively. You might try reading through this post for a starting place on penalty ID:

Site's meta description is not being shown in Google Search results. Instead our privacy policy is getting indexed.
We re-launched our new site and put in the re-directs. Our site is https://www.fico.com/en. When I search for "fico" in Google. How can I get a photo album indexed by Google?
We have a lot of photos on our website. Unfortunately most of them don't seem to be indexed by Google. We run a party website. One of the things we do, is take pictures at events and put them on the site. An event page with a photo album, can have anywhere between 100 and 750 photo's. For each foto's there is a thumbnail on the page. The thumbnails are lazy loaded by showing a placeholder and loading the picture right before it comes onscreen. There is no pagination of infinite scrolling. Thumbnails don't have an alt text. Each thumbnail links to a picture page. This page only shows the base HTML structure (menu, etc), the image and a close button. The image has a src attribute with full size image, a srcset with several sizes for responsive design and an alt text. There is no real textual content on an image page. (Note that when a user clicks on the thumbnail, the large image is loaded using JavaScript and we mimic the page change. I think it doesn't matter, but am unsure.) I'd like that full size images should be indexed by Google and found with Google image search. Thumbnails should not be indexed (or ignored). Unfortunately most pictures aren't found or their thumbnail is shown. Moz is giving telling me that all the picture pages are duplicate content (19,521 issues), as they are all the same with the exception of the image. The page title isn't the same but similar for all images of an album. Example: On the "A day at the park" event page, we have 136 pictures. Is there a way to index important pages manually or to make sure a certain page will get indexed in a short period of time??
Hi There! The problem I'm having is that certain pages are waiting already three months to be indexed. They even have several backlinks. Is it normal to have to wait more than three months before these pages get an indexation? Is there anything i can do to make sure these page will get an indexation soon? Greetings Bob

Web Page Dropped Out of Google?
One of our web pages seems to have completely dropped out of Google after featuring on page 1 for a number of years. It can't be a site wide issue as all other web pages are performing as normal. The page is http://www.contractormoney.com/income-protection/ and the key phrase it was performing well for was 'contractor income protection'. Any ideas??

Home page canonical issues
Hi, I've noticed I can access/view a client's site's home page using the following URL variations - http://example.com/

http://www.example.com/
http://www.example.com/index.html There's been no preference set in Google WMT but Google has indexed and features this URL - http://example.com/ However, just to complicate matters, the vast majority of external links point to the 'www' version. Obviously i would like to tidy this up and have asked the client's web development company if they can place 301 redirects on the domains we no longer want to work - I received this reply but I'm not sure whether this does take care of the duplicate issue - Understand what you're saying, but this shouldn't be an issue regarding SEO. Essentially all the domains listed are linking to the same index.html page hosted at 1 location My question is, do i need to place 301 redirects on the domains we don't want to work and do i stick with the 'non www' version Google has indexed and try to change the external links so they point to the 'non www' version or go with the 'www' version and set this as the preferred domain in Google WMT? My technical knowledge in this area is limited so any help would be most appreciated. Regards,

Does page speed affect what pages are in the index?
We have around 1.3m total pages, Google currently crawls on average 87k a day and our average page load is 1.7 seconds. Out of those 1.3m pages(1.2m being "spun up") google has only indexed around 368k and our SEO person is telling us that if we speed up the pages they will crawl the pages more and thus will index more of them. I personally don't believe this. At 87k pages a day Google has crawled our entire site in 2 weeks so they should have all of our pages in their DB by now and I think they are not index because they are poorly generated pages and it has nothing to do with the speed of the pages. Am I correct? Would speeding up the pages make Google crawl them faster and thus get more pages indexed?

Some site pages are removed from Google Index
Hello, Some pages of my clients website are removed from Google Index. We were in top 10 position for some keywords but now I cannot find those pages neither in top 1000. Any idea what to do in order to get these pages back? thank you
