On-Page Grader Levels
-
I see that On-Page Grader reports include a numerical number such as the following:
Keyword Usage for audio book gift certificates = 15
I improved this page (http://www.audiobooksonline.com/audio-book-audiobook-gift-certificates.html) from 3 to 15 today.
What is the maximum "grade" possible?
-
Hey Larry,
The numbers you mentioned are not a grade, they are a count of the number of times that the keyword is used. The maximum grade that you can receive is A.
To answer your second point, we actually do have a section to let you know when you are overusing a keyword. In the on page grad report there is a section labeled "Avoid Keyword Stuffing in Document", which will let you know if you are over stuffing a keyword.
Cheers,

Matt, Chris; Thank you for your comments.
Certainly I don't want to over include keywords into any of our pages.
The On-Page Grader report I received showing 15 uses of the keyword phrase made no mention that I was close to or had exceeded recommended usage. I would think that the On-Page Grader report would let me know if I was over using a keyword phrase. Correct?
Is there such a keyword use recommendation?
I don't see the "Factors Overview" box that Matt refers to.
-
Larry, don't crank that number up too high--it's not a grade, it's the number of times you used the keyword in each of the elements shown above the total. You really should be looking at a few times in the body and not more than once everywhere else.
-
Going on the on-page "Factors Overview" box near the top, the max appears to be 36.
But the number you refer to is simply a count of instances of the particular key phrase on the page, which as far as I know has no maximum - it's simply an indicator of what the crawl found for that URL - of course too high a keyword density leads to keyword stuffing and pages that are thoroughly unnatural to read!
We've long moved past the point where keyword density was the be-all and end-all of ranking, so beware trying to get it too high.
Check in the view-source of the page as some (Page Title, Meta Description etc) won't appear in an on-page search in browser if you're looking to confirm the value.

Blocked Resource in Google Index. SSL certificate blocking 718 pages seen in Google Search Console.
My google search console indicates that my SSL certificate is blocking Googlebot. I was wondering if the blocking of my SSL certificate to the GoogleBot is causing any issues. I I'm not sure if this was only blocked recently by Volusion (my host) as a means of accommodating my ssl certificate not being able to address the various url versions of my site, or is this just commonplace and not really harmful to my indexing. I tested one of these "blocked" urls in the robots.txt tester and it showed that the Googlebot was allowed. Could it be just the SSL certificate at the bottom of the page is blocked? Thanks

German blog post with mutated vowel. Page optimization says keyword is not used.
Hey guys! I'm trying to optimize for a keyword that includes a mutated vowel (ä for example). In the URL I simply put it as ae (which most sites that I checked do). For whatever reason it says the keyword is not used on the site at all - which isn't true. Is this a known problem? Haven't found anything in the forums. Thanks for the help. Florian

Too Many On-Page Links Notice
When calculating the number of links on a page, are navigation links included in the total? I have all of my navigation links within the <nav>element. I would think that there are a lot of sites out there that easily exceed the 100 link recommendation if you add up nav and footer links. </nav>

On-Page Grader supporting HTTPS?
Hi there, I am getting the error "Sorry, but this URL is inaccessible" on the Moz On-Page Grader. I have tested with multiple URL's but any that link to my site give the error. I have noticed my site's URL's redirect to https so my question is..is the on-page grader in-compatible with https? Cheers!

Www.site.com linking to pages www10.site.com
The root domain of the website in question is www.site.com but all subpages are on the subdomain www10.site.com (I'm pretty sure it's a subdomain, at least, used for load balancing?). A funny thing happens on this site with the moz toolbar. I visit a subpage, www10.site.com/articles/articletopic1 That page has a lot of links on it, all of them visibly going to the subdomain www10.site.com. However, the moz toolbar shows some of them as Internal links and most of them as External links. As far as I can tell, there is no real rhyme or reason to the difference between the links that are highlighted as Internal vs. External. The link structures vary greatly: Some are properly structured www10.site.com/blogs/category

And some are poor like www10.site.com/articles/show_articles.php?section=category1 So a couple questions here: Does this subdomain www10 have a detriment on the rankings of subpages?
What could possibly cause the internal links on these subpages to be highlighted as external pages with the moz toolbar?1 -
Duplicate Page and Title Issues
On the last crawl, we received errors for duplicate page titles and some duplicate content pages. Here is the issue: We went through our page titles that were marked as duplicate and changed them to make sure their titles were different. However, we just received a new crawl this week and it is saying there are even more duplicate page title errors detected than before. We're wondering if this is a problem with just us or if it has been happening to other Moz users. As for the duplicate content pages, what is the best way to approach this and see what content is being looked at as a "duplicate" set?

Should I be getting an 'A' Grade for basic words in a page title?
It seems as long as a word in the page title matches a word(s) within the page content you will get an 'A' grade. Should I be replacing these keywords with higher monthly searches and lower difficulty? It appears deceptive when you test a new website and all the pages get an 'A' for a word as basic as 'about.' Please advise.

Find all the back links to all the posts/pages within the blog subdirectory only.
Hi, I am new to Moz. I using the open site explorer to find backlinks for a website's blog. The website itself is huge. I want to find all the backlinks to all the posts/pages within the blog subdirectory only. Not the regular website. I ran a few reports, but it is giving me links to that page, not all the sub pages.Fi
