Traffic Generation Visitor Exchange Systems & Google Algo / Punihsments

So, in recent years some services have been developed such as Engageya
I want to ask the experts to weigh in on these types of services that generate traffic. I know of sites that have achieved higher ranking via these NON-bot, user browser visitors.
Here's their own explanation. Any thoughts will be appreciated. I could not find what Google's Matt Cutts has to say about these affairs, I suspect not very good things. However, I KNOW of sites that have achieved higher ranking, with about 30-40% of traffic coming from similar systems to this.

Wil owns a large agency and tests out services like this including nRelate and Taboola. Some are better than others. As far as Google is concerned, as long as the links are "nofollowed" the recommendation services should be perfectly fine.
In Wil's case, he used these services for link building, with mixed success.
On the other hand, any content recommendation service that places followed, non-editorial links on the web is worth approaching with caution. I'm not familiar with the Engageya platform, but this is something I'd definitely check out first.
Hope this helps! Best of luck with your content.

Well the site belongs to a friend of mine, he is located in the middle east and is pretty happy with his local online sales, although he knows and I know that none of this traffic gen via the manipulative methods is not bringing him any of the conversions directly, but he claims he reached his top rank for his keywords of interest only after he used these gimmicks
My question is more concerning Google and its policies / future punishments, does this stuff sound like a type of thing that can be detected and compensated for via search algorithms? As far as I have figured it out, this is really not "automated" and users who sign up to services like this and others (he is using another service, local) have to manually open a browser window and then the system has a way of knowing they are doing that to a subscribed site and it will thus stream other subscribed users to their site in return.
This is a clear manipulation of SERPs in my view and I am really wondering how is Google or other experts in the field viewing this? This results in high time spent on page, low bounce rates, higher traffic, and of course nearly 0 conversions. but it has affected his rank despite his local competitors doing a far better job both technically and visually.

The traffic may be there, but is it traffic you want? Do the users have the right motivation to come to your site? What are the conversions like from this traffic?

Traffic going down in all sites in a niche
Hello, A client has three Ecommerce sites in a niche. Because of competition and a (possibly) non manual penalty due to doorways and paid links (though I think it's mainly competition too) our traffic is going down. What are the keys to increasing traffic at this point. Feel free to include tricks that cost money. A Hrefs (I love Moz though!) has some neat content tricks. Please give me the best tricks in the industry to increase traffic. We're adding content to the main site of the three and maybe that's what to focus on, but we're having trouble driving serious traffic with the content. We need serious traffic. We are experts in our field and capable of almost anything as far as information goes in our field. Thanks.

Besides technical error improvement, best way to increase organic traffic to movie review website
I have a friend's website, ShowBizJunkies, that they work very had at improving and providing great content. I put the website in a more modern theme, increased speed (wpengine, but maxed out with cdn, caching, image optimization, etc) But now I'm struggling how to suggest further improving the seo structure or building backlinks. I know trying to come up for those terms like "movie reviews" and many similar are ridiculously difficult, and requires tons of high quality backlinks. What is my lowest hanging fruit here, any suggestions? My current plan is: 1. Fix technical errors 2. Create more evergreen content 3. Work on timing of article release for better Google News coverage 4. More social sharing, sharing on Tumblr, Reddit, Facebook Groups, G+ Communities, etc 5. Build backlinks via outreach to tv show specific sites, movie fan sites, actor fan sites (interviews)

When you get a new inbound link do you submit a request to google to reindex the new page pointing at you?
I'm just starting my link building campaign in earnest, and received my first good quality inbound link less than an hour ago. My initial thought was that I should go directly to google, and ask them to reindex the page that linked to me... If I make a habit of that (getting a new link, then submitting that page directly to google), would that signify to google that this might not be a natural link building campaign? The links are from legitimate (non-paid, non-exchange) partners, which google could probably figure out, but I'm interested to know opinions on this. Thanks, -Eric

Switching prices for google base
We would like to be able to submit lower prices to google than we do to other sources. How i see it working is that at the end of each url we submit to google base there is a tracking code (source=googlebase). When a user visits the site via one of these urls we would knock 10% of the price of that item and store the item in a cookie to ensure that the price of that item, for that user would stay at the low price for 24 hours. My question is whether google would have a problem with us doing this? The second part of my question is whether they check the full url including the query strings? If theyt just checked the canocial URL they would see a price thats 10% higher than the one we submitted to base - which, of course - would be bad

Thinking of redirecting *all* mobile traffic to another site (via an advertiser) - safe to do?
Hi, I am thinking of redirecting all mobile (iphone, cell phone, etc) to an advertiser (so completely different content than my site). Is there any risk of getting banned from google (etc) for doing this? (this is for an adult site)
