What Navigation strategy should I pursue for this local SEO project? Why?
-
Hi Mozzers,
Context: I am working with a plumbing company that is located in NC and covers 6 locations( 1 address + 5 target cities). To start off I am planning to SEO his main location + 2 to 3 areas. The initial plan is to create 30 (10 services for 3 locations) unique landing pages for the main area and the extra locations,.
His services are:
- PLUMBING
- EMERGENCY PLUMBING
- WATER TREATMENT
- WATER HEATER INSTALLATION
- WATER HEATER REPAIR
- TANKLESS WATER HEATERS
- SEWER AND DRAIN CLEANING
- REPIPING
- GARBAGE DISPOSALS
- GENERAL PLUMBING
Since I am including 2 to 3 extra areas offering all these services above, should I include a subnavigation which will create a localized microsite within the site itself for these extra locations or not? Please specify why?
Thanks!

I like the option of having a NAV item called "cities we serve" with cities such as San Francisco landing to a Welcome Page having all the services displayed there with proper anchors(like you mentioned).
Coming back to the NAV I'd like to see the San francisco splitting into the different service pages(attachment).

Hi Taysir, just saw that you hadn't received any feedback on this so I thought I throw in my two cents!
Instead of creating a mess of navigation tabs, I would simply have each locations primary page list the service offerings with anchor text linking to the corresponding page. For example...
Plumbing Company in Specific City, NC
[primary page content]
Our Services Include:
- EMERGENCY PLUMBING in Specific City, NC (linked to page)
- WATER TREATMENT in Specific City, NC (linked to page)
- etc.
I think that should provide a framework that makes sense for the user AND gives the bots an easy way to index the pages without going deep into a navigational structure!
Would like to hear other opinions on this as well

Unique content for international SEO?
Hi Guys, We have a e-commerce store on generic top-level domain which has 1000s of products in US. We are looking to expand to aus, uk and canda using subfolders. We are going to implement hreflang tags. I was told by our SEO agency we need to make all the content between each page unique. This should be fine for cateogry/product listing pages. But they said we need to make content unique on product pages. If we have 1000 products, thats 4000 pages, which is a big job in terms of creating content. Is this necessary? What is the correct way to approach this, won't the hreflang tag be sufficent to prevent any duplicate content issues with product pages? Cheers.

AJAX requests and implication for SEO
Hi, I got a question in regard to webpages being served via AJAX request as I couldn't find a definitive answer in regard to an issue we currently face: When visitors on our site select a facet on a Listing Page, the site doesn't fully reload. As a consequence only certain tags of the content (H1, description,..) are updated, while other tags like canonical URLs, meta noindex, nofollow tag, or the title tag are not updating as long as you don't refresh the page. We have no information about how this will be crawled and indexed yet but I was wondering if anyone of you knows, how this will impact SEO?

SEO Experts: Where did you start?
Hi all! I'm beginning to travel down the road of becoming an SEO expert! I've attended the latest few webinars on Moz, and have started watching the White Board Fridays. However I'm wondering, for the current SEO Experts, how did you get to where you are today? I.e. What books did you read? Did you pay for classes or just learn everything from Moz? Where is a good place to get an SEO Expert Certification/Is it necessary? How long did it take you to become an expert? (Stuff like that) I suppose I'm looking to make a list for myself, organizing what I should learn first, and then create a timeline moving forward. Thanks for your help Mozzers! - Briana B.

How to perform Local SEO for sites like Angies List/Task Rabbit or Craigslist
I have a new SEO client that has a business model similar to Criagslist and Angies List or Task Rabbit, Where they offer local based services nationwide. My first thought was Local link building and citation building etc. But the issue is they are a purely online service company and they don't have a phyiscal address in every city/state they will be offering their services in. What is the best course of action for providing SEO services for this type of business model. I am pretty much at a stand still on how to rank them locally for the areas they provide services in. it's a business model that involves local businesses and customers looking for services from those local businesses.

I need a method to estimate the amount of work necessary to get listed in the one-box for my chosen queries. Can someone point me in the right direction? Any help appreciated.
