Visits in Campaigns report exceed pageviews in Pages report in Google Analytics
-
We tag our links in social media posts with the source (i.e. Facebook), medium (Post) and campaign (i.e. kids funny sayings).
We often see in our Campaigns report that the number of visits generated by a Facebook post exceeds the number of pageviews for that linked to page in the Pages report
Has anyone else had this experience and why does it happen? Or am I missing something really obvious or doing something wrong in which case, please please enlighten me!

Thanks for the recommendations Mike. We are considering GA Premium among others and Chartbeat too.

Hi Harriet,
Have you considered going GA Premium? It certainly isn't cheap $150k/yr, but the platform is proven and continues to improve. I don't know where comScore's pricing is at - I'm assuming it's less expensive than GA Premium.
Two alternatives I'd recommend looking into:
I haven't had the chance to use either of these first-hand yet, but I've heard good things, they're designed for publishers and the interface/reporting looks good.
I'd be interested to hear what you land on and why, if you care to circle back in this thread.
Best of Luck,
Mike -
Thanks Mike -- this kind of confirms what I suspected. We are a big publishing site, have way exceeded our data limits for the free version of GA and most of our data is sampled. This is not the only anomaly I see in our numbers but I wanted to be sure that there wasn't something obvious I was missing.
I'm currently testing Comscore's analytics as a possible alternative to GA but not liking the interface. If there are any analytics packages you can particularly recommend, please let me know.

Hi Harriet,
I've only seen this a couple of times in the past, and I was always been able to sort out what was up.
One thing I'd recommend is to make absolutely certain that the destination URL (and no other versions of it) is the only URL that's setting those UTM variables. In other words, ensure no additional pages are getting traffic for that campaign.
I'd also be curious to know how much traffic the site receives overall - if you're at the level where GA will actively sample your reports, I've seen sampling cause some wonky numbers, though it is usually proportional / within reason.
It's a few weeks now since you posted this question, not sure you're still vying with this, but if you're still stuck and can provide some more detail, I'll be happy to dig a little more.
Best,
Mike

Will Huge bounce rate from social media visits affect SEO or website Ranking according to Google algorithm factors?
We have one website and have posted our blog post url in the social media sites and got almost 5k visits in 3 days’ time, with 11sec avg time on site, zero conversions and with 97% bounce rate. This in turn reduced the total conversion rate for the same month to less than 0.5%. According to google algorithm, these are factors affecting website ranking. Can anyone guide me whether which visits from social media affect our website in any case based on these Analytics factors? Please help me out on the same! Note: Blog post topic was related to latest technology update and the landing page also based in the respective topic as well.

Google+ Brand Page in Knowledge Graph
We've been unsuccessfully trying to get our brand's Google+ page listed in the Knowledge Graph for our brand. I believe that our markup on our website is correct. Can anyone advise on why we can't get this to pull up in the knowledge graph? Trying to find a WP application (that does not require a FB application) that synchronizes website blog posts with a company facebook page
I'm not a developer and it's been about 5 years since I helped a client synchronize their wordpress blog posts with their FB page. I remember it being much simpler to do this in the past. However recently I'm noticing that all of the WP auto post applications require a Facebook application to get the synchronization to function properly.

Is there any WP plugin available that does not require this? Something that just requires FB keys?0 -
How important is Google Plus - Specifically for B2B Small Businesses?
Our traffic is about 300 visitors a day in a small industrial niche. We have 89 wonderful facebook followers (all friends and no customers) and basically social media is of no interest to our audience. The same is true of all our competitors - we all have twitter accounts, FB accounts etc and they are resolutely ignored by our customers. [For a combination of Industry Sector, Language, Culture, Business Culture and Job Role] That's not the question though 🙂 No one has any Google Plus followers either and no +1's on pages. So if I get 10 +1's on a page will that make any difference? Would 50? Would 500? How much effort should I put in to this? As we are not an e-commerce revenue isn't tied directly to website traffic but there is a correlation. So is it worth spending a bit of time to develop a 'natural distribution' of +1's and then reach out to my contacts to get them to plus 1 me? That is I use lots of different google accounts, with different IPs on different pages at different times and slowly build Or do i just say that this part of the SEO approach is of no benefit and I ignore?

SEO relevance of Google+. Should we bother getting Google+?
I've read mixed results about the SEO benefit of having Google+ for your company. I'm sure that a very small % of my sites user base has Google+ so if we did implement Google+ into our site I don't think we would really have anyone following us...or in our circle or whatever they call it. So are you guys using Google+ for your business and if so, do you think it's worth it for me to if I know barely any of my users have Google+? Google really seems to be trying to plush Google+ for business, with replacing Google places with Google+ Business and requiring people to log into Google+ to rate businesses. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
