Remove bad quality backlink
-
One of my client had run an exercise to have many bad quality backlinks from overseas to the site which has very negative after Google launched Penguin.
They are the in the process of Disavowed all the bad domains linking to the site, any way to check the progress, how long it takes and when Google can remove its penalty?
-
Thank you Jane.
Your information is very helpful. I am in the process of viewing the webmaster guidelines to make sure we've done the right things.
Cheers,

Hi Kanmin,
This does not mean that anything has been approved, just that Google has received the disavow file.
This links to information on how to submit a reconsideration request. You will hear back from Google after you submit this (within a few weeks, most likely) if your penalty was manual and that penalty has been lifted. If the penalty was algorithmic, you will not hear back - you would only see the site's ranking and traffic improve.
Cheers,
Jane

Hi David, How do I make a reconsideration request?
-
Hi Martijn,
Thank you. A couple of week is actually quicker than I think. I received below message in web mastertool:
You successfully uploaded a disavow links file with xxx URLs and xxx domains.
Does it mean the disavow request has been approved?
-
Unless you got a manual action and did a reconsideration request, you won't hear back from Google. Based on the OP's statements, sounds like his is an algorithmic problem.
OP, wait and pray that things turn around with the next Penguin update.

Hi Kanmin,
When you've submitted a disavow file or requested a reconsideration it can take up a couple of weeks before they'll respond to it to let you know if they approve it.

Backlinks issue
Hi guys So I have 3 top level domains - I'm seeing backlinks that point to each other. Is this something that I need to fix? I'm not too sure if this practice is ethical, but I'm not entirely sure how all the links are pointing towards each other and if this is something I will get pulled up for how do i go about fixing it? My 3 domains are as follows: zenory.com, zenory.com.au and zenory.co.nz I would appreciate some advice around this! Cheers

Backlinks to URLs with Language Parameters (for Chinese version of website) and SEO?
Hey all, We run a large eCommerce site in Australia and are preparing to launch to the Chinese market. Our site has been fully converted to Chinese and displays the version of the site detected as default in the user's browser unless they manually select otherwise. This is done by appending the parameter "?la=zh" onto the end of the URL, so for example the Chinese version would be: **www.example.com/australia?la=zh ** This then forces the product catalogue to display the relevant language version. My question is, for SEO purposes and back links in particular, since they aren't really a "true URL" (i.e: strictly speaking they aren't different "pages", just the same page being populated with different characters), would getting links from Chinese websites to the URL "www.example.com/australia?la=zh" really be viewed as any different from just "www.example.com/australia"? Do they pass the same amount of juice and is the difference detected by the engines (thinking mainly about Baidu in particular but of course Google as well)? Feedback from anyone with experience in SEO for multi-lingual sites would be much appreciated, thanks.

Good or Bad? - buying a .com domain name that is already branded under a different county code like .nl but a different business model completely
For example - www.example.com (I purchase) and www.example.nl (is in use and well optimized but a different business model) Seeing that this business (example.com) will be based here in the USA and theirs (example.nl) is in the Netherlands and they are both completely different models, is this ok? They are well optimized for the name and it will be a little bit of a challenge to outdo them here in the US as far as the name goes, but the name is really good and the client wants it!

Backlinks to rewrite urls and russian cyrilic characters
Dear Mozers, I've been tried different methods for backlink building and I need some help in order to make it clear in my mind. I have a multilingual website. Also it has russian language which is our basic market. My main keyword is(Недвижимость в Греции) which means Properties in Greece and of course I target my russian first page which has url rewrite (because I have to include my keywords in url) with cyrrilic characters - http://www.halkidikiproperties.com/ru/халкидики-недвижимость-греции/. As I see these backlinks doesn't appear in seomoz tool and there is no improvment in link analysis tab. Do I have to target better my home page than this url rewrited page or maybe do I have to target www.halkidikiproperties.com/ru/ which is the main russian page but before the url rewrite? Also as I see my competitors targeting their homepage without any rewrite but they are not multilingual. Do I have to analyze better this specific rewrited-url by using Link analysis tool? Is it possible to analyze a specific url? Thank a lot , It will be really helpful your assistance. Regards, George

Removing United Kingdom next to a generic TLD
We have a generic top level domain (gTLD) called www.xyz.com which was set to target United Kingdom in Google Webmaster Tools. We have now launched a US version of the site targeting US consumers – www.xyz.com/us and set the geographic target to United States on GWT. When I search for xyz on www.google.com, the serps brings up the .com site with “United Kingdom” beside it. This will most likely confuse our prospects as they would think we only have a UK operation. How can I tell Google not to include “United Kindgom” next to www.xyz.com Any thoughts? Since this was happening, I removed the geographic location target for www.xyz.com to null on GWT. Would that help solve the issue? Look forward to your reply. Many Thanks Jay
