Please Help! I lost ranking from #1 SERP
-
I am new to SEO. I lost my first place ranking on google. I held it for YEARS. I think I lost it with the last update...
How do I analyze my site to find what is penalizing me? How can I get back to the top?
-
I am after Pensacola Real Estate. I have made no changes to my site in the last year. I just dropped recently from one unexpectedly. I think it was the time around the "google update" I am hearing so much about...
-
Pensacola real estate for sale, Pensacola Florida real estate, Pensacola fl homes for sale, Pensacola foreclosures, Pensacola luxury homes, Pensacola homes
for sale, Homes for sale in Pensacola fl, Homes for sale in Pensacola, Condos for sale in Pensacola, Pensacola condos for sale, Waterfront homes for sale in Pensacola, Pensacola waterfront homes for sale, Pensacola homes,
Foreclosures in Pensacola fl, Foreclosure homes for sale in Pensacola, Pensacola foreclosure homes for sale, REO Property in Pensacola, Short Sales in Pensacola, Pensacola short sales homes,
Pensacola new homes, Pensacola waterfront homes, Terry Gaston realtor, Pensacola MLS...I wanted the keyword PENSACOLA REAL ESTATE. It's the only keyword I care about. In the tag above I said (example) "Pensacola Real Estate," but I also said a number of other keywords with "Pensacola" in it. Is this bad? Should I only use "Pensacola" once ever in the meta/title tag?
So <title>Pensacola Real EState - Pensacola Fl Homes</title> is bad because both keyword phrases have PENSACOLA in them? I should write Pensacola Real Estate, Homes for sale, etc... <----- Homes For Sale won't put me in the national market for HOMES FOR SALE, right? I only want Pensacola Homes For Sale.

Most likely Google penalized you for over optimization. Google sees this keyword stuffing as being spammy.
a) only one instance of each keyword in your title tag and meta description.
b) lose the meta keywords tag completely across the entire site
c) check the keyword density in your content and lower it if needed
d) check the varying of anchor texts internally and externally (people linking to your site)
<title>Pensacola Real Estate - Pensacola FL Homes - Florida Realtor - Pensacola realtor</title>

She was right with all her suggestions, but the community can help you a lot here. You should tell us a few things though..
Like
A) what keyword are you trying to rank for
B) if you use Google Analytics (if so, then you should check it and tell people the date range that it seems your traffic dropped)
C) what you have paid / done to increase your rank, and when you did those things

You'll first want to go into Google Webmaster Tools and see if you have any notices from Google.

Sudden Drop in Rankings
I manage a site and this past month have noticed some pretty significant drops in rankings for some of our main keywords. I'm trying to understand why and what I can do to correct it. We did do some 301 redirects a little over a month ago so I've been wondering if that has anything to do with it as Google indexes the new URLs. One thing I did notice in Moz is that it is showing that Google is indexing the new URLs but associating them with the wrong keywords in the wrong location. The company services three locations and each location has a service page on the site. But Moz is showing that in Atlanta, the indexed URL is the Nashville one, etc. Is there any way to affect that? Another thing to note is that organic search traffic is actually up so it doesn't appear to be affecting them which I find a bit strange. Just looking for any insight as to things I should be looking into to explain the sudden drops. Thanks!

Traffic Drop in 1 month!
Hi guys, ok, i'm at the end of my line with this one, my site www.golfclothingdirect.co.uk has taken a pounding since 4th April and i'm blowed if i can find a real reason for it. Traffic has been increasing slowly in line with budget, sales were picking up, and coming into season should have been better - 24th & 25th robot had an access issue - host contacted and said there had been a site issue, but resolved and now all A OK. Sales are terrible and traffic is grinding. All comments greatly taken on board! Thanks Mark

Sudden 50% drop in SERP rankings
Hi, Our website is well established and has been growing every month until around Jan. 6th 2013. All of sudden our search rankings on Google dropped dramatically (nearly 50%). We getting tens of thousands fewer visitors through search results than normal. At the same time as the drop (almost to the day) we changed our forum software from Vbulletin3 to Vbulletin4. The forums are on a different subdomain, and our forum developer said there is no way the change would affect the main site. Is that true? So far, we have not been able to figure out what caused the sudden change. Maybe a Google update?

Ranking overseas
I have a well established website that I market as the busness being based in London, how hard would it be for me to start ranking for phrases in America? (An increasing amount of our work is being carried out in America.) What exactly would it entail? Thanks in advance.

Subdomain and Domain Rankings
I have read here that domain names with keywords might add a boost to your search rank For instance using a completely inane example monkey-fights.com might get a boost compared to mfl.com (monkey fighting league) when searching for "monkey fights" There seems to be a hot debate as to how much bonus the first domain might get over the second, but leaving that aside for the moment. Question 1. Would monkey-fights.mfl.com get the same kind of bonus as a root domain bonus? Question 2. If the answer to 1 above was yes would a 301 redirect from the suddomain URL to root domain URL retain that bonus I was just thinking on how hard it is to get root domains these days that are not either being squatted on etc. and if this might be a way to get the same bonus, or maybe subdomains are less bonus prone and so it would be a waste of time Thanks

Dismal content rankings
Hi, I realize this is a very broad question, but I am going to ask it anyways in the hopes that someone might have some insight. I have created a great deal of unique content for the site http://www.healthchoices.ca. You can select a video category from the top dropdown, then click on a video beside the provider box to see. The articles I've written are accessible by the View Article tab under each video. I have worked hard to make the articles informative and they are all unique with quotes from expert physicians. Even for strange health conditions that don't have a lot of competition - I don't see us appearing. Our search results are quite dismal for the amount of content we have. I guess I'm checking to see if anyone is able to point me in the right direction at all? If anything jumps out... Thanks, Erin

Ranking with a .nu TLD
Hi everyone, A few weeks ago i purchased a .nu TLD, it's a really nice domainname but i'm wondering if it's possible to rank with this domain in Google? I've heard several times that it doesn't matter for Google which TLD a site has, but i normally never see .nu's high in the SERP's, what are your opinions about this? Is it possible for me to get this site high in google with good links and quality content? Thanks!
