Same Alt tag on the images

Can We have same alt tags on all the images? Below pages have images with same alt tag "astrologer Ravi sharma". I used name of the person on every image. before today, all images were shown in google images but today no image is there. any comment.

You are wasting a chance to get more text in your website, alt tags aren't worth much but all the same it a chance to get a keyword or relevant text in your site.
It may also be a bad signal to a search engine and they may no longer trust your alt tags when deciding what the image is about

William has given some great points - remember what alt tags are for: They are for screen readers which are normally used by impaired users so try to make them descriptive e.g "astrologer Ravi sharma in X paper" "astrologer Ravi sharma on the moon" etc. It could be Google has looked at your images and thought you're trying to be sneaky and use the alt tags for SEo advantages rather than help your users. Follow Williams advice and I'm very sure you will be great!

It's OK to have his name, just add more to it to differentiate the photos.

Every image on the website is having "Ravi Sharma" (name of the person). that's why i used his name on every image. Should i change the alt tag or only need to add description to the images?

I would tend to agree with William here. The objective of the alt tag is to help give context to the image if the image cannot be displayed. If you are able to describe the image in a way that relates to your post, you will be better off than trying to stuff keywords in the alt tag. If an image is related to the post, search engines (particularly google) should gain a contextual understanding which is better in the long run.
In my experience, I find that the more I try to "optimize images", the more unnatural they are. Again, we are trying to be natural and helpful.

Try to be more descriptive than that in the alt tags. Quickly describe what the image is about. You never want to duplicate alt tags on different images, because those images are not the same. Alt tags are there to describe the image in a short, concise way.

Redirect old image that has backlinks
Hi Moz Community! I'm doing an audit of a website and did a backlink analysis. In the backlink analysis, there is an image that has 66 backlinks but the image doesn't exist on the website anymore (it was on a website that was created in 2011 - 2 web launches ago). I don't believe a 301 redirect will work for an image that doesn't exist anymore. How would I redirect the image URL (it's WordPress so we have a specific URL that other websites are linking to but get 404 errors) without going to each individual website and requesting they change the URL link? Any advice or recommendations would be great. Thanks!

H3 Tags - Should I Link to my content Articles- ? And do I have to many H3 tags/ Links as it is ?
Hello All, On my ecommerce landing pages, I currently have links to my products as H3 Tags. I also have useful guides displayed on the page with links useful articles we have written (they currently go to my news section). I am wondering if I should put those article links as additional H3 tags as well for added seo benefit or do I have to many tags as it is ?. Anchor Tag around Table / Block
Our homepage (here) has four large promotional sections taking up most of the real estate. Each promo section has an image and styled text. We want each promo section to link to the appropriate page, so we created the promo sections as and wrapped each in an anchor. That works fine for users but I tried viewing our site in a text-only browser (Lynx) and couldn't follow those links! My fear is that GoogleBot can't follow them either and doesn't know what anchor text to pull. So, my question: What's the best way to make this entire block clickable, but still have it crawlable by robots? Or is our current implementation ok? HTTP Header Canonical Tags
I want to be able to add canonical tags to http headers of individual URL's using .htacess, but I can't find any examples for how to do this. The only example I found was when specifying a file: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/how-to-advanced-relcanonical-http-headers N.B. It's not possible to add regular canonical tags to the of my pages as they're dynamically generated. I was trying to add the following to the .htaccess in order to add a canonical tag in the header of the page http://frugal-father.com/is-finance-in-the-uk-too-london-centric/, but I've checked with Live HTTP headers and the canonical line isn't showing : <files "is-finance-in-the-uk-too-london-centric="" "="">Header add Link "<http: frugal-father.com="">; rel="canonical"'</http:></files> Any ideas?

Will the Canonical tag fix this issue?
I recently joined promoz and I've been busy working through the issues raised brought to light during the crawls of our Magento site, www.unitedbmwonline.com. One of many issues were the 10,000+ Duplicate Page Titles which I believe are the result of not using Canonical tags when setting up the store. This is now corrected and hopefully I'll see a significant drop in this value after this next crawl. Am I correct in this assumption? Cheers, Steve

Canonical Tag and Affiliate Links
Hi! I am not very familiar with the canonical tag. The thing is that we are getting traffic and links from affiliates. The affiliates links add something like this to the code of our URL: www.mydomain.com/category/product-page?afl=XXXXXX At this moment we have almost 2,000 pages indexed with that code at the end of the URL. So they are all duplicated. My other concern is that I don't know if those affilate links are giving us some link juice or not. I mean, if an original product page has 30 links and the affiliates copies have 15 more... are all those links being counted together by Google? Or are we losing all the juice from the affiliates? Can I fix all this with the canonical tag? Thanks!
