Backlinks through dofollow commenting
-
I'm interested in building backlinks to my photography business site by leaving good, engaging comments on other photographers' DoFollow blogs. Is this a good idea? Is it worth the effort?
Through a little research, I've managed to locate more than 40 dofollow photographer blogs that have a domain authority of 35+.
The idea is to take an hour or so a week to leave 10-20 comments on their blog posts.
Would you consider this a good strategy? I rank on the first and second page of most of my keywords that I'm working on, but I want to rank 1st or 2nd on them. I used the keyword finder tool on google adwords to find the keywords that are the most searched for in my area. Surprisingly the competition is not large, so I'm fairly comfident I can get there.
I've already optimized my site substantially and I'm looking into link building.
Thoughts?

You might want to look through the other responses to this question, as this tactic isn't the best one for sustainable rankings. Also, if you are a photographer, are your customers coming from the sites of other photographers? You may want to target your efforts towards places that your customers are reading.

Do you still have this list? I would love to be able to comment on these posts. I comment on lots of photorgapher blogs, but most of them are nofollow and I want dofollow.

This is exactly the type of link that I spend my days removing for penalized sites. Don't do it!

Don't participate in blog commenting for the purpose of link building. If you genuinly find something really interesting and want to leave a comment, fair enough.
You want to build links? Start a blog, a damn good one. You're in the photography business, so you must have knowledge on the subject? write some amazing content that others would want to read and share. Optimise this content (naturally) to get it ranking in search engines.
Good luck

Are you saying 10-20 comments on each blog each week? That's going to look quite unnatural.
What if the blogs decide to nofollow their comments? Would you still be happy to have your comments there? Is there a purpose to your commenting besides the hope of passing page rank?

I would suggest NOT doing this as even engaging blog comments can be considered spam. I would suggest possibly reaching out to these sites and maybe see if there is another way they can help in linking to you. As was talked about in a recent YouMoz blog even no-follow links can be beneficial. Perhaps useful guest blogging would help. Despite what many people are saying if done properly guest posting can helpful to your site even if they no-follow the link.

Backlink builder (Professional)
If I wanted to hire a professional person to build high quality backlinks for me, where would I look? I'm asking here because I'd rather go on the recommendation of other businesses owners, than a google search. Does anyone have a person that they can recommend? It's for an insurance agency in Texas. Many thanks

Backlinks to an anchor name URL: How Google sees them
I have been searching for the answer to this question and to my surprise have yet to find anything on the web. This is my situation: I have a form at the bottom of one of my pages and have another website that wants to link to this page, more specifically this form. I have an anchor link on the page to this form already. I was planning on sending the anchor name URL to the Webmaster to link to my page so their users will go straight to my form. My question is: do I lose link juice to my URL from this link because it is an anchor name URL? Does Google see this link that goes to a specific portion of my page to be less valuable than if I just linked to the plain URL? Cheers Sean

Should I get comment removed?
I left a comment on a site's blog post maybe 2 months or so ago. Yes, that blog has DoFollow comments on. It turns out that site uses one of those sidebar featured comment widgets, and has a crazy amount of duplicate pages due to an unruly wordpress install, pagination and attachments indexed. Well, I checked my google analytics recently and it shows that I'm getting 652 links from that site. Ahh.. Should I ask the blogger to remove my comment? Or should I let it go, and wait until google reindexes that site? My links don't technically show on all those pages anymore because since that time, the blogger has gotten more comments that are now featured instead of mine.

Not sure which url to use for backlinks
Hi our site, northamericahvac.com automatically goes to http://www.northamericahvac.com/servlet/StoreFront. There isnt anything I can do about it though, because we use prostores which limits things for us. That leads me to ask, when I'm making backlinks would I use northamericahvac.com www.northamericahvac,com, or http://www.northamericahvac.com/servlet/StoreFront.

How does Google treat multiple backlinks on the same page?
Hello mozCrew Just a quick yay or nay. We have an embeddable code on our site for customers who want to post our link on their website listed here: http://www.accupos.com/etc/embed-code-restaurants.php But in our link, there are actually 2 separate links, one branding link that says the name of our company, AccuPOS, and another link which targets a specific target keyword "Restaurant POS Software". My question is, does Google only give credit for the branding link, since it is listed FIRST? Or will we get double credit? Is this a good or bad practice, and what would you recommend? Thank you! How important are edu and gov backlinks?
I have heard that edu and gov backlinks are important but how so in a niche area like mine - real estate? Perhaps I am missing the point but I do not see how either type of site would ever backlink to a commercial real estate entity. If these are that important in theory, are they obtainable in practice?
