Facebook have moved my page likes to another page
-
Hi
Hope someone can help or offer advice about an issue that has arisen today
i had a facebook page with approx 20,000 likes and a competitor had a page with approx 500 likes. Today the competitor has over 20,000 like (my likes have been transferred to them without informing me)
I have spent quite a lot of time and money in facebook advertising building up the page and this came as a total shock today.
The page (was) www.facebook.com/wildatlanticway
It is very difficult to contact facebook. has this happened to anyone else
Regards
Brian

Thanks for feedback Spencer
The page that facebook removed from me was www.facebook.com/wildatlanticway (no longer active)
Over the past year through a combination of posting quality content and paid advertising (with facebook) I had achieved 20,000 likes. All of these likes have been transferred to a new page (which yesterday had 700 likes) www.facebook.com/irelandswaw
The Wild Atlantic Way is being promoted by Ireland's tourism board and I quote directly from their reply to me below
"You may remember that I called you some weeks back to discuss the Facebook Wildatlanticway url. As you are aware, there is a trademark issue regarding the use of this .url and we requested that you transfer the url back to us as we are the agency who developed the Wild Atlantic Way and are currently working to bring it to as wide an audience as possible to promote Ireland as a holiday destination.
"While I appreciate that you have put some time and effort into developing the Facebook page, the ‘Wild Atlantic Way’ as a brand and proposition belongs to Fáilte Ireland. Following official discussions with personnel at Facebook, we have learned that we have a right to this url (as the owner and promoter of the Wild Atlantic Way) and Facebook have transferred the page into our possession. Facebook informed me that they would be contacting you about this but I gauge from your email that this may not have happened yet."
Tourism Ireland spend a lot of money with facebook and have the advantage of meeting directly with them at their offices in Dublin.
I can't even get a reply to an email

Can you link the Facebook page that they have transferred them to?
To my knowledge Facebook will only consolidate pages that are duplicates of each other, if it is a competitor that they transferred then this is a massive error on their part. Generally merging pages requires you to be an admin on both pages, so I'm not sure how they manages this. It seems like your competitor must have convinced Facebook that your page was a duplicate of yours. I imagine that contacting Facebook will be a pain but that's the only way you will be able to get this reverted.
I'm sorry this happened. It sounds extremely frustrating. Good luck with getting this fixed!

Google SERP shows wrong (and inappropriate) thumbnail for Facebook videos?
Hello I'm running into a strange issue with at least one of my client's video. The video is posted on Facebook. When searching for the video on Google, the SERP shows a completely wrong, and inappropriate, thumbnail image. (And in one case the preview video starts playing within Google SERP.) It also seems that Google is indexing various countries' facebook page for the same video separately (it-it.facebook.com, fr-fr.facebook.com, etc). Note that only the thumbnail and preview video within Google are wrong; if you click on the link, you see the correct video and page. I hesitate to divulge the actual client video, but there are some reports on Google's search community about the same behavior: Here's one that stargs back in March: https://support.google.com/webmasters/thread/33760205?hl=en and a more recent one: https://support.google.com/websearch/thread/71452151?hl=en It looks increasingly like a bug in some google algorithm, but nobody at google seems to acknowledge that. I've unpublished the original video from FB and submitted an 'outdated content' removal to Google, which is pending. In the meantime, my questions for our group of experts here: Has anyone else experienced this and any other suggestionso n how to fix? If we assume that this is not a google bug: how could a malicious actor or black-hat SEO influence Google's algorithms to cause this? Thanks, mickey

Why does someone's FB page rank so highly?
Hi Everyone, i recently ran a non-personalized search and saw that this facebook page https://www.facebook.com/tampapersonalinjurylawyers ranked very highly for both "personal injury attorney" and "tampa personal injury attorney." The page has very few likes, and they don't even post that often. From my limited knowledge, that leaves me guessing it's because its a quasi-exact match facebook page, but that can't be right...can it? (Ranking screenshot is attached) Thanks, Ruben GO4N11x

Facebook Share from personal wall to fan page
Is it possible to share a post from someone's personal FB wall to a company fan page if they have the permissions set to allow this? I often get a message that a share was denied and I'm not sure if shares from personal to business fan pages are always denied or if this is controlled by the person's privacy settings.

Does promoting a new page on twitter/facebook help it get indexed faster?
I know this probably won't matter much to people who get crawled on a regular basis, but for those of us who don't, does promoting a new page on social media help it get indexed faster with google? My site rarely gets crawled, but I've recently been adding new content. When I add new content I started to promote it on facebook/twitter and I do get minimal traffic from it. I noticed that a couple of the pages seem to be indexing quicker than pages normally do for me, although I'm not sure if it's because I recently migrated to WP or what..? I know T/FB are no follow sites, but is there a chance that promoting a page may contribute to the pages getting indexed? Thanks for any insight you can shed on the matter. It's more for curiosities sake than anything else. Pete S.
