Why isn't our structured markup showing in search results
-
Hi All,
We installed Schema.org structured markup on our pages nearly 1.5 months ago at this point and we have yet to see the markup show in the search results. It also checks out in Webmaster tools and Google's structured markup language testing tool. So, I'm just confused why it's not even showing up site a "site" search in Google either.
Here's an example of two such pages on our site:
http://www.learningtree.com/htfu/usdc01/washington/java-perl-and-python-programming-training
and
http://www.learningtree.com/htfu/usat40/alpharetta/it-and-management-training
Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thank you

Hi
As Dennis confirmed, the 2nd link is showing the rich snippets. Try not to rely on the site: operator, and instead (first choice), query Google specifically where your result should appear first naturally, in your target country. For example, https://www.google.com/search?site=&source=hp&q=IT+and+Management+Training+Alpharetta%2C+GA+&gl=us yields the desired result:http://screencast.com/t/szChNsHMjS42
Alternatively, you can always try the info: operator which is usually more reliable. Your first result is a bit more confusing to explain, http://screencast.com/t/nY3u6eCdeIfV. You have 2 results appearing for the exact page title query, and that might be the reason why you aren't seeing it (at least in this example): https://www.google.com/search?gl=us&q=Java%2C+Perl+and+Python+Programming+Training+&gl=us
Just as David-Kley said above, you've implemented the microdata correctly and it's really up to Google as to whether the query deserves rich snippets or not. On the up side, you are getting quite a few rich snippets, so just look around https://www.google.com/search?gl=us&q=Perl++Programming+Training&gl=us
Thanks,
Dave

Make sure you are not signed into your Google account when trying to see if pages are displaying authorship. If you are signed in, it will not show.
As to the markup, if it is showing up in Google's snippet testing tool, it is there. It is up to Google when and where they display the snippets, if they feel it benefits the user.

Hi Pedram
The 2nd link is already showing the markup
The rest should come along eventually. I usually notice quicker changes for higher trafficked pages (higher activity and better crawled) on the sites I run. They also, sometimes appear and disappear altogether but they did tweak it recently to show more often based on the sites that I am tracking.

Thoughts on Google's Autocomplete hurting organic SEO?
A client sent over an article about how Google's Autocomplete eliminates your chance for clicks. Saying that if your competitor is higher than you, the user will bypass the page one organic rank and click on a specific business from the autocomplete which in turn presents an entire page one result for that business. So in a sense they are wondering why they're doing organic SEO if potential customers are just going to bypass the page one organic results. I would love to hear thoughts from like minded people on this as I have to start proving my case with articles, facts, data, and research.

Software to indicate search volumes/trends
Is there any software that exists to help provide an indication of the search volumes or trends behind keywords? Currently we use google trends for a YOY and WOW view for some select KW's but the reality is are search volumes are effected by 1,000's of KW's and trying to get an accurate view of overall trends and theme with our product sector is difficult. I'm interested to find out if there is software which is an alternative to google trends or if there is 3rd party software available that lets us process google trends data in bulk?

Creating Content for Semantic search?
Need some good examples of semantic search friendly content. I have been doing a lot of reading on the subject, but have seen no real good examples of 'this is one way to structure it'. Lots of reading on the topic from an overall satellite perspective, but no clear cut examples I could find of "this is the way the pieces should be put together in a piece of content and this is the most affective ways to accomplish it". **What I know: ** -It needs to answer a question that precludes the 'keyword being used' -It needs to or should be connected to authorship for someone in that topic industry -It should incorporate various social media sources as reference to the topic -It should link out to authoritative resources on the topic -It should use some structured data markup Here is a great resource on the important semantic search pieces: http://www.seoskeptic.com/semantic-seo-making-shift-strings-things/ ,but I want to move past the research into creating the content that will make the connections needed to get the content to rank. I know Storify is an excellent medium to accomplish this off page, but only gives no follow attribution to the topic creator and links their in. I am not a coder, but a marketer and creating the backend markup will really take me out of my wheel house. I don't want to spend all of my time flailing with code when I should be creating compelling semantic content. Any helpful examples or resources welcome. Thanks in advance.

Authorship Photo Not showing in for last 6 months now
Hi - Early last year we activated Authorship Photo which remained in SERP till Nov'12... However, post that the Authorship Photo is not showing, neither the schema rating tags are showing in Search engines We tried a lot by changing lot of hits and tries, still to no avail.. We have written to google twice for it (they had a link for which author whose photo now showing after everything is right can send site links )- but to no avail.... The Rich snippet shows Authorship Photo, Schema rating. Even, Google custom search on our own site own page showing it... However, this does not translated into any of these shown in actual Google Search Engines. Our Site is :- http://www.mycarhelpline.com/ Sample Links of rich snippet http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets?q=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.mycarhelpline.com%2Findex.php%3Foption%3Dcom_easyblog%26view%3Dentry%26id%3D94%26Itemid%3D91&html= http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets?q=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.mycarhelpline.com%2Findex.php%3Foption%3Dcom_latestnews%26view%3Ddetail%26n_id%3D467%26Itemid%3D10&html= Even google custom search showing schema rating tags for searched keywords like :- Ford Ecosport, Tata Nano Diesel .... However, on actual search the schema tags are now shown Can anyone suggest - what am i missing, actually lost on this...... Worse - our SERP are somehow also slowly coming down for some of the main keywords too

Guides to determine if a client's website has been penalized?
Has anyone come across any great guides to pair with client data to help you determine if their website has been penalized? I'm also not talking about an obvious drop in traffic/rankings, but I want to know if there's a guide out there for detecting the subtleties that may be found in a client's website data. One that also helps you take into account all the different variables that may not be related to the engines. Thanks!

Why is there no compiled list of the different types of search results on Google, and what the content qualifications are to generate those results?
Seems to me that this list should exist out there somewhere, but I can't seem to find it. Am I just not as good of a Googler as I thought I was?

Don't use an h1 and just use h2's?
We just overhauled our site and as I was auditing the overhaul I noticed that there were no h1's on any of the pages. I asked the company that does our programming why and he responded that h1's are spammed so much so he doesn't want to put them in. Instead he put in h2's. I can't find anything to back this up. I can find that h1's are over-optimized but nothing that says to skip them altogether. I think he's crazy. Anyone have anything to back him up?
