Penalized domain redirected to the non-penalized one...
-
I've a technical question ,
For example site A was penalized by google updates, panda and penguin both and site b is in the same niche and it's running good and never been penalized by updates.
If I redirect site A to Site B with 301 status code(permanent redirect), will Google penalize the site B too? because penalties travel from old domain to new one as per google's algorithms.
And If yes then how can I stop my competitor from removing redirection of penalized domain to mine?

Hi there,
I've never seen this happen to a client so I'm only speaking from a theoretical point of view. My feeling is that it is possible for a penalty to be passed via a 301 redirect. One core reason is that if it didn't, then it would be a very easy way for low quality websites (who don't care about their brand / company name) to just keep switching websites. I don't think it will happen in all cases, but I certainly think it's possible.
If this were to happen to you, my feeling is that you should create a disavow file on the new domain which contains the links to the old domain but go through the 301. This feels a bit messy but I don't see an obvious alternative. The absolute best outcome is to get the links totally removed which can be tricky sometimes.
I found this blog post by Dave Naylor which talks a bit more about this subject if you'd like to read more:
https://www.davidnaylor.co.uk/what-to-do-with-your-disavow-list-when-301ing-an-old-domain.html
This Moz Q&A thread also talks about the same situation and has some additional information:

Cheers.

You have to through the disavow process on that link.
-
Ok! Got the answer, Simply disavow that 301 redirect. I think it will work.

I've found the way to identify that who is redirecting a bad repute domain to your's. You can simple check this out via moz pro's Backlinks checker under the option of "301 only".
Now the question is, if someone has redirected a bad domain to mine, what can I do then?

Has this happened to you yet? If not, dont worry about it.
The penalty doesnt really pass all the time. If your site B is strong enough, you won't even feel it.
If it does happen to you, you will need to find the 301, report it to the registrar to get it off. I don't think there's an easier way at the moment.

Merge 2 websites into one, using a non-existing, new domain.
I need to merge https://www.WebsiteA.com and https://www.WebsiteB.com to a fresh new domain (with no content) https://www.WebsiteC.com. I want to do it the best way to keep existing SEO juice. Website A is the companies home page and built with Wordpress Website B is the company product page and built with Wordpress Website C will be the new site containing both website A and B, utilizing Wordpress also. What is the best way to do this? I have research a lot and keep hitting walls on how to do it. It's a little trickier because it's two different domains going to a brand new domain. Thanks

Should I consolidate multiple domains to a single site with 301 redirects?
Our client wants all his sites to be re-designed and perhaps consolidated into one domain. What are the dangers of using 301s on all his already ranking and established domains to their new forward-slash location? If there are some good articles that describe this exact issue please post a link.

Umlaut in domain
Hi, My client wants to expand it's business to Germany and logically we need a domain name to match. We've found a great one and regsiterd several variants to it. However I just found out that in Germany it is possible (while here it's not) to register a domain with an umlaut. My question is: will google assign more value to: schädlinge.de than schadlinge.de when users search for schädlinge? If yes, how large will the difference be? (I will use an umlaut in the title etc) Kind regards,

301 redirect domain to page on another domain
Hi, If I wanted to do a 301 permanent redirect on a domain to a page on another domain will this cause any problems? Lets say I have 4 domains (all indexed with content), I decide to create a new domain with 4 pages, one for each domain. I copy the content from the old domains to the relevant page on the new domain and set it live. At the same time as setting the new site live I do a 301 permanent redirect on the 4 domains to the relevant pages on the new domain. What happens if Google indexes the new site before visiting the redirected domains, could this cause a duplicate content penalty? Cheers

Redirect or not to redirect
We are rebuilding a website and try to get rid of errors. The content remains exactly the same but we correct the code and make it load faster. The site has quite many backlinks and I can't decide whether to remove .html endings from the urls and 301 redirect to the new ones or leave them with the older ending. If I remove the endings how much of the link juice will be passed? Anyone any idea?

301 Redirects Change?
Hi, Mozzers- I've noticed pages that are getting 301 redirected are staying out there longer. It used to be that you would implement a 301 redirect and then after a couple of months the old page would disappear out of Google's index. Over the last couple of months I've noticed pages lingering, popping up.... What gives? Thanks in advance! LHC
