Has Anyone Used Boostability?
-
Looking into Boostabilty as an option for doing SEO for our clients, will still keep SEOmoz and will still be doing SEO for our own company. Has anyone used it or heard things about it? I am very skeptical when it comes to outsourcing SEO and when it comes to any kind of automated SEO but thought I'd ask if anyone had thoughts on it.
Thanks,
Holly

Just a quick note that all links in Q&A are nofollowed.
-
My only experience with them is getting e-mails from Disqus when they've added another generic comment to my blog, linking to a competitor. This has happened about a dozen times over the past several years, so they either do this a lot, or happen to work in my niche a lot (which, by the way, is usually well behind the curve in the digital marketing realm).
They might do fantastic work in other realms, but this alone would preclude my ever working with or recommending them.

Great response Danaglenn! Can you send me some of your program info? I might have a couple people that could use your assistance. Yes, I'm being totally serious.
-
It is not my intention to begin an argument and I’m sure it was not your intention either. I am glad that you began your previous post with, “First off, I've never used their service, so I don't have any facts.” However, I did feel misrepresented by your first post. I hope I can just clarify my previous response.
- The slash at the end of the code is for tracking purposes. Add "/anything" and it will resolve. This is a common and accepted method of tracking affiliates and resellers.
- You claimed slim content, which I feel is untrue about our site as whole. I get that the term "slim" is relative, but it should be understood that some pages are bound to be shorter, depending on the purpose of the page. The goal with the content is to get them to read and call. Not overload our target audience, small business clients, with information they don't want. That particular page is mostly marketing copy, and serves its intended purpose. But with 60+ pages on the site, there are many pages that are NOT slim content.
- The 3rd point was taken out of context, as our claim for was results was"6/9 keywords in the top 5 results, 9/9 on first two pages." Being in the 4th spot for that keyword, this holds true. The rank for that client is appropriate based on their monthly spend monthly spend, time spent optimizing, and the client's goals. This client insisted that we target additional keywords because they were so thrilled with what we were able to do.
- We don’t link out because it's not good marketing practice to send potential clients to other websites, away from the site we designed to help build our client base.
Holly, thanks for your interest. We’d love to have the opportunity to show you what we offer.

"Most of what the previous poster is not true."
- Two versions of website
- Very slim content
- See link above
- Only rank #4 for the main keyword...
- See attached
- Don't link out at all
- Who do you link out to?
I'm not sure where I was dishonest.
-
First off, I've never used their service, so I don't have any facts.
However, this is what I caught right away:
- two versions of website ( .com and .com/)
- Very slim content that only talks about importance
- Only rank #4 for the main keyword in first case study (43/100 difficulty level)
- Don't link out at all (Minus BBB)

Heading Tags (Specifically H2) being used within images
Hello, Mozzers I have a question regarding placement of heading tags. I have seen this asked a few times on the forum but some are from a couple years ago so wanted to get a more up to date answer regarding this. We want to add H2 tags across our site but our two options are to wrap images we are using as navigation on the top of the page, these are directly below our pages H1 tag and actually make sense. Example H1 title: Vehicles Images are specific brand logo with H2 being wrapped to pull the img alt: "Ford Vehicles" "Checvy vehicles" etc. The wrap would look something like this: I appreciate your time, Chris

Can using nofollow on magento layered navigation hurt?
Howdy Mozzers! We would like to use no follow, no index on our magento layered navigation pages after any two filters are selected. (We are using single filter pages as landing page, so we would liked them indexed) Is it ok to use nofollow, noindex on these filter pages? Are there disadvantages of using nofollow on internal pages? Matt mentioned refraining from using nofollow internally https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4SAPUx4Beh8 But we would like to conserve crawling bandwidth and PR flow on potentially 100's of thousands of irrelevant/duplicate filter pages.

Have You Ever Used Tools Such as; TribePro, Onlywire & SocialAdr?
Hi all, We create approximately 8-10 circa 800 word articles every week with the majority being added to our blog - I do tend to internally link from the blog to relevant pages on our website... I have been introduced to some 'syndication tools' such as; TribePro Onlywire SocialAdr ...and wondered whether these are deemed as 'gaming the system' and so potentially 'grey hat'? I would appreciate comments from anyone who has a view and particularly from anyone who has possibly used any of these tools... Many thanks Andy

WordPress redesign: using posts as pages?
Starting a redesign for an attorney who is currently using WordPress with an old framework that is no longer being supported, so I'm going to install a new WP and start from scratch. The site consists of about 30 static pages (practice areas, attorney profiles, etc.) and they write about 5 blog posts per month. I've always differentiated between posts and pages for WP sites I've done in the past, but this time around I thought it might be more clean (less files, and easier for their webmaster to make routine edits) if I just brought over the static pages as posts. However, the recent webinar on the Yoast SEO plugin mentioned using the month/day in the permalink structure for posts to avoid duplicate content issues. That would go against how I was thinking of setting it up, because I would have just generated the URL off the page title and make a separate category for "pages". Just wondering if anyone's used posts as pages before. While this seems like it would make things easier for the webmaster, I'm not sure it maximizes potential for SEO. Thanks.

Using abbreviations in URL - Matching Keyword
We have a website that uses /us/, /ca/, /va/, etc for URLs of the different U.S. states. How much better is it (or is it at all better) to use /california/ or /virginia/ instead in our URLs to rank for searches that include the name of those states?

Do any of you regularly use expired domains?
I know there has been discussion on using expired domains in the past. This is not so much a question as to how to do it or whether it works, but rather I would love to see how many of you use this in your backlink strategy. I have a domain in a low to moderately competitive niche that ranks really well, mostly on the power of a couple of expired domains. I bought the domains, created a quick wordpress site and pointed some anchor texted links to the site. It took some time for the expired domains to regain their PR, but when they did, the benefit was great. I'm considering whether I want to do this with another domain of mine. On one hand, it's a relatively inexpensive way to get some good quality anchor texted links. But, on the other hand, something in it feels "immoral" or "sneaky" to me. What do you think?
