Listing all services on one page vs separate pages per service
-
My company offers several generalized categories with more specific services underneath each category.
Currently the way it's structured is if you click "Voice" you get a full description of each voice service we offer.
I have a feeling this is shooting us in the foot.
Would it be better to have a general overview of the services we offer on the "Voice" page that then links to the specified service? The blurb about the service on the overview page would be unique, not taken from the actual specific service's page.
-
I would advice to put everything on one page. (This is also great for a broad keyword)
Then have short descriptions in there the a link to a specific page for each service. (Specific targeted keywords)

A page per service area is likely to be better from a pure SEO perspective, particularly if these relate to phrases that potential customers are likely to serve. A page per service is going to give you the opportunity to really expand on the information on offer and probably rank for more related terms further down the tail as well. It also makes is easier to focus your one page optimisation more at the theme for each page.
From a user experience / conversion perspective it could help too. That additional information, some focus and the chance to sell the benefits more should funnel more people towards conversion if it is done well.
One potential pitfall is if you are in an area where potential customers might not know exactly which product areas are right for them. The "everything on one page" approach can work well when people want to scan their eye down what is on offer and find what is relevant to them. Many sites now take a best-of-both approach: Have one page per service, but still have a services page that gives a shorter overview of each aimed at directing people towards the right choice for them, as you suggest in your last paragraph.
-
OK... that's good.
-
No. "Voice" is a link in the menu that takes you to the Voice page.
-
Currently the way it's structured is if you click "Voice" you get a full description of each voice service we offer.
Does this mean that the info is "hidden" until the visitor clicks? If that is the case that info is not being used by Google and possibly other search engines.
We removed all of the "click to view" elements on our sites a couple years ago because the traffic on those pages went to crap.

Personally I would look at creating a main category page and then have the services in pages below that allowing you to fully optimise each of these services. Having separate pages means you will be able to optimise all the on-page factors specifically for each service strengthening the chances of ranking for more of your services as key factors such as the page title, h1 header and other on-page content will have the specific service keyword in them. Don't forget to make sure your meta description is also specific and has a good call to action in order to help encourage the all important click-throughs from the search engine results. Also make sure your URL is optimised to contain the relevant service/service related keyword. As you say you need to create unique content for each. Having separate pages in your internal link structure allows you so much more freedom to optimise for the specific services based around relevant keyword research for each. I would also consider how you could possibly earn relevant links to these pages as this will also help increase their authority and ultimately ranking.
You might find having a look at this useful - http://moz.com/learn/seo/internal-link
Hope this helps!

If you are going to expand further on each service, then it makes sense to break it down further and use a blurb on the main services page for each. Google what is called a silo site structure for more information.

What is the best meta description for Category Pages, Tag Pages and Main Article?
Hi, I want to index all my categories and tags. But I fear about duplicating the meta description. for example: I have a tag name "Learn Stock Market", a category name "Learning", and a main article "What is Stock Market". What is your suggestion for meta description of these three pages that looks great for seo google?

Renamed a page and created a 301, page lost its rankings.
We changed a page name to fall under the root of our site from domain.com/page1/page301d/ to domain.com/page301d/ and after 2 weeks it still is not back to its #3 position. Now it is on the bottom of page 3. I cant figure out what im doing wrong here. The original .com/page1/ that this page fell under was removed totally and redirected to antoher page that was more relevant. I went ahead and re-enabled this page and its contnent, because the page was linking out to the page we 301d. This page we re-enabled had about 150 links poitning to it and therefore i was thinking that maybe the link juice from this page (or relevancy) via an internal link was helping it rank. This was updated about 6 days ago and the internal link is back Any other ideas why this might not be working. Ive checked all the 301s, content has not changed on the page. We have updated the strcuture for many pages. Instead of having the pages in question fall under anotehr page, they all fall under the root and its sub content is now only 2 levels deep , instead of being 3. hope that makese sense.

Too many on page links
Hello, I have a page that isn't ranking very well. http://nicontrols.com/uk/drives-motors/variable-speed-drives According to the MOZ research tools I have too many on page links. I believe most of these are a result of the advanced filtration options on the left hand side of the page. I don't want to remove the filters as they are extremely useful for customers but I am also worried about the number of links Anyone get any ideas about the number of links? Should I care?

Too many page links warning... but each link has canonical back to main page? Is my page OK?
The Moz crawl warns me many of my pages have too many links, like this page http://www.webjobz.com/jobs/industry/Accounting ...... has 269 links but many of the links are like this /jobs/jobtitles/Accounting?k=&w=3&hiddenLocationID=463170&depth=2 and are used to refine search criteria.... when you click on those links they all have a canonical link back to http://www.webjobz.com/jobs/industry/Accounting Is my page being punished for this? Do I have to put "no follow" tags on every link I do not want the bots to follow and if I do so is Roger (moz bot) not going to count this as a link?

Title Tag: Phrases vs. Keywords Separated by "|"
Hello, One of my client's old sites has all category titles of the form (for example) running shoes | running shoe | walking shoes | walking shoe including many that perform well with over 60 characters. I'm in the process of rewriting the titles into something like Running and Walking Shoes, A quality shoe at OurShoes.com The reason I'm rewriting them is for future google penalties, and to look better to possible guest post opportunities. Also to look better in the SERPS But the old style is performing very well. What are the real pros and cons of each? Thanks.

Page Title
My website was hacked last November and then again last week. Prior to the hacking we were at number one in Google.co.uk for our main search term "nile cruises' for years. After last November's hacking we dropped to about position 4 and after last week we are at position 7. Ima rebuilding the lost data and I am having to create new Title and Description meta data for each of the indexed pages. I am taking the opportunity to try and ensure my titles and descriptions are good and the correct length, etc but wondered about the best title format. I set our home page title over the weekend as: Nile Cruise | Leading ABTA & ATOL Bonded UK Nile Cruise Specialist I was going to try and cover 3 keyphrases in the title like this: Nile Cruise | Nile Cruises | Nile Cruise Bargains But I thought that might look a bit spammy because the 3 phrases are very similar. I wondered what anyone else might suggest? Thanks, Colin

Duplicate page titles
We have search results pages on our site. They share the same page title, there is no real differentiator between the result pages, other than page 1, page 2 etc. How do we de-dup the titles? just add page 1/2/3 etc to the end of them?

Optimally, how many times should the key word or phrase you are targeting for a particular page be mentioned or appear on that page?
Our marketing team is debating how many times the key phrase on each of our web store's product pages should include the word/phrase we are trying to be competitive with. Can you advise?
