How to use rel canonical?

Hi, I am having some questions about this and I think you can help me on this.
Here I have the example of my problem:
pagination:
Suppose that I have a new with 2 pages
you can access the first page by different ways:
www.espectador.com/1v4_contenido.php?m=&id=250419&ipag=1
http://www.espectador.com/1v4_contenido.php?m=&id=250419
Same meta descr, same body with different URLs.
Can I use rel canonical in the file 1v4_contenido.php that point to the friendly url?

Rel=canonical or 301 to pass on page authority/juice
I have a large body of product support documentation and there are similar pages for each of versions of the product, with minor changes as the product changes. The two oldest versions of this documentation get the best ranking and are powering Google snippets--however, this content is out of date. The team responsible for the support documentation wants current pages to rank higher. I suggested 301 redirects but they want to maintain the old page content for clients still using the older version of the product. Is there a way to move a page's power to a more updated version of the page, but without wiping out the old content? Considering recommending canonical tags, but I'm not sure this will get me all the way there either as there are some differences between pages, especially as the product has changed over time. Thoughts?

Can you use schema markup to do this?
We sell steel plates. They come in a number of different grades and then in a variety of sizes. Generally we have a page for each unique grade. What I want to do is to use schema to enhance the rich snippet in SERPS to say something like width: 2 - 3.5m length 6 - 14m thickness 6 - 300mm Phosphorous: 0.005% Sulphur 0.005% is this possible using schema? would I use thing/product or another theme? i'm trying to scope out the possibilities here to determine whether it is worth spending time on. The the other more interesting question is whether it is possible to respond differently to informational and purchasing searches. So if someone is looking for informations physical and chemical properties would be best used in the schema markup. If they are looking to purchase then product characteristics. Can these be shown differentially?

Using Javascript to Display Responsive Images?
Hi We're making our new website responsive and are thinking of using a solution that would resize the images using javascript. So the image would be displayed like this <div data-src="/img/200x100.png">div> depending on what size fits the screen Is is okay for SEO? Or do we also need a fall back that doesn't use javascript? Examples of sites using hreflang
Hi all, I'll soon be doing some work for a worldwide company who are launching a new site. The new site is a near clone of another of their sites in another country. Obviously I'll need to make use of rel="alternate" hreflang="x" on both sites. 301s vs. rel=canonical for duplicate content across domains
Howdy mozzers, I just took on a telecommunications client who has spent the last few years acquiring smaller communications companies. When they took over these companies, they simply duplicated their site at all the old domains, resulting in a bunch of sites across the web with the exact same content. Obviously I'd like them all 301'd to their main site, but I'm getting push back. Am I OK to simply plug in rel=canonical tags across the duplicate sites? All the content is literally exactly the same. Thanks as always

Adding Rel Canonical to multiple pages
Hi, Our CMS generates a lot of duplicate content, (Different versions of every page for 3 different font sizes). There are many other reasons why we should drop this current CMS and go with something else, and we are in the process of doing that. But for now, does anyone know how would I do the following: I've created a spreadsheet that contains the following: Column 1: rel="canonical" tag for URL Column 2: Duplicate Content URL # 1 Column 3: Duplicate Content URL # 2 Column 4: Duplicate Content URL # 3 I want to add the tag from column 1 into the head of every page from column 2,3, and 4. Rel canonical with index follow on query string URLs
Hi guys, Quick question regarding the rel canonical tag. I have lots of links pointing at me with query strings and previously used some code to determine if query strings were in the URL and if they were then not to index that page. If there weren't query strings then the page would be indexed and followed. I assume I can now use the rel canonical tag on each of these pages so the value goes to the proper URL minus any query string. However do I need to have the rel canonical tag above the index, follow tag on the page? So URL is site.com/page.html?ref=ABC meta robots is "index, follow" Rel canonical is "site.com/page.html" Does the order of the meta robots and canonical tag matter? Thanks in advance!
