Domain Types/Extensions – Are .infos any good ?

Hi
I know general concensus is to stay away from the non established domain suffix types and concentrate on .coms .co.uk’s etc etc.
But i have an aged .info domain that has some content on it related to a online news paper i have on that subject (on the news paper providers domain sub-folder currently) which i want to focus more time on and put on its own dedicated domain. So i want to upload it to this aged .info domain.
However waste of time if .info domains are bad for seo etc
Does anyone have any experience of .info doing well in serps or should i totally scrap the idea and try find a new .com etc type domain ?
My .info has been live with related content for 7 years so hoping that should count for something

Good to know, I would never use them if you were targeting a specific country but for this it should be fine. I wouldn't worry to much about the .info you'll have bigger problems in your SEO strategy to take care off, so based on that your TLD probably won't make the biggest difference.

I worked some .info domains ( some microniches ) in the past and they ranked ok! But i read very often that they dont rank so well as .com

Its absolutely working globally by virtue of the papers subject 'digital nomadism': http://paper.li/danlawrence/1352573243
Now i want to put it on www.digital-nomad.info so on its own domain (since this is 7 years old/aged with relevant content)
However I understand it form other seo's/sources etc that .infos, like most other uncommen domain suffixes, are very hard to rank for on google, or rather .coms etc have a much easier job of achieving rankings quicker (all other things being equal of course)
Would appreciate your thoughts (and anyone else reading this who has any experience of .infos etc) ?

Domain Mapping - International Config - WP Multisite - Problems/issues experienced ?

etc I then will domain map domain names to each of these children, once I get DNS control of each language's settings. I fully expect that "www.domain.tr" will be mapped to "network.domain.com/tr/" and so on, but depending on domain availability at the time of purchase. Any domain name can be mapped to each of these children, and the system doesn't care, or mind! I can also map one (or more) domain names to each child, and make ONE of them the primary domain name.0 -
Is it needed to use http:// or not?
Hi, When doing link building and getting my URL to other websites, is it necessary that the other websites include http:// before the domain? Example: I want to increase the number of links to my site www.example.com . When I ask other websites to add a link to my site, should I ask them to use http://www.example.com or is www.example.com enough (without http://)? Or it really does not matter? Build links to / or without ./ on root
Hi there for linkbuilding what is better, building with / or without / www.domain.com www.domain.com/ I have been told it depends what your webserver is doing, also i was told they are the same? what does Google see? I know i need to stay consistent, just wondering which practice is better? Any help as always much appreciated.

Multiple (different) domains and canonicalisation
Hello, We've had experience with canonical tags for various domains before, such as tidying up product categories etc... However, can anyone point me to any guidelines about different domains using canonicalisation. For example: If I had the following sites, all with identical content - exampledomain.com completelydifferentdomain.net anothertotallydifferentdomain.com With canonical tags pointing to the first one (exampledomain.com), could this be harmful? Is it better to 301 redirect the other sites? Thanks

Sub-domain dilema - variations
Hi All, We're creating a sub-domain for a new program launch on a client site and we need to choose the "right" sub-domain name that properly reflects the offering and hopefully keyword driven. The client is already using the preferred sub-domain name but until we get clarification that we can take it over, I'm doing my due diligence and expecting a worst case scenario in that we cannot use it. The current preferred sub-domain is only a landing page (not a full site) and it does NOT rank for anything and it's not being built out further. My question: Would pluralizing our preferred keyword have any effect in the way SEs see the two sub-domains as they're very closely related? hardcandy.sitename.com or hardcandies.sitename.com The new sub-domain would be a fully-functional-SEO-friendly site (well that's the plan anyway). Seomoz api for domains working, for domains+directory not?
We're working on a tool using the seomoz api ... for domains we're always getting the right values, but for longer URLs we're having troubles ... Example: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/6-reasons-why-qa-sites-can-boost-your-seo-in-2011-despite-googles-farmer-update-12160 won't work http://www.seomoz.org/blog works Any idea what we might be doing wrong?
