My index URL was removed from Google, but all others remain in the search engines
-
HI All, My site was ranking very well and was in 1st page of google for most of my keywords. Couple of weeks back we did some update to the site and moved it to new hosting and from then onwards I dont see my site home page in Google ranking . My Website Name is : royalevents.com.au. It used to be in 1st of Google for keywords like wedding Mandaps, Indian Wedding Mandaps etc,
Would be great if some one helps us to figure out whats gone wrong .. I also did Webmaster Fetch as Google but nothing happened.
Thanks
-
HI Matt,
My site was back in google now ( **http://tinyurl.com/q6tqhc2 **) . Not sure what happened there and I havent changed any content . Looks completely strange but helped me to fix the mobile index issue.
-
It looks like you are using Wordpress, there may be a plugin with out looking into the admin panel its difficult to guide, but I'm sure you can find a few guide in removing the pagination in Wordpress. You can also change the canonical tag to point to where you are redirecting to rather than an incorrect page which will help.
-
Hi Chris,
Sorry i was trying different things , but we have searched all the files but couldn't find any way to remove that meta tag from website. Can you guide us more.
Thanks

_http://bit.ly/18FAHvD - Site Listed here is extract from my site. See the url Link . But why not my site there? _
You don't have more authority than siteglimpse. Given how much other duplicate is on the site, Google thinks you're scraping content. You don't have the authority to outrank them on this content or based on links.
_Duplicate: http://bit.ly/1ADqvej - All refer to my Page within . Not anyone outside. May Be I should change. _
Look at the bottom of the page & page 2. There's lots not on your site. Facebook, Youtube, Staged, WN.com, etc.

Hi Matt,
**see my answers below: **
Doesn't even show your footer box: http://bit.ly/18FAHvD - Site Listed here is extract from my site. See the url Link . But why not my site there?
Duplicate: http://bit.ly/1ADqvej - All refer to my Page within . Not anyone outside. May Be I should change.
Duplicate: http://bit.ly/1MIuUUW - Yes, its a duplicate blog , I should remove.
-
Duplicate: http://bit.ly/1O4zTkr
Duplicate: http://bit.ly/1ADqvej
Doesn't even show your footer box: http://bit.ly/18FAHvD
Duplicate: http://bit.ly/1MIuUUWNothing on your homepage is unique - I don't think one single line is unique. Please check the links above & see. There's one line of your homepage you don't even show up for - only the duplicate does.
Sorry, this is all I can help on the issue. There's no unique content on your homepage. I suggest you copy any sentence, put in quotes, put in Google as I've done above. You'll see many results.
-
HI Matt,
Everything is Unique, Its our own Content and Images we have there and more over the site used to be No.1 on Google but suddenly disappeared when we had this hosting change .
-
What section of content on the homepage is unique and requires Google to index it?
-
HI Matt,
Its fixed . But the main issue still remains. I mean my homepage yet to show in Google or getting indexed. Website: royalevents.com.au
-
I actually think it's fixed now:
-
Hi Matt,
I have deindexed as you mentioned and re indexed the site but issue still exist. Is there anything I could do . Thanks
-
You're actually not redirecting it - at least not when I go to it. I see "page not found."
It's ok not to have a m. mobile site if your current one is responsive, yes.
I would deindex by resubmitting your sitemap to WMT & forcing a recrawl in WMT (Fetch)
-
Hi Matt,
Thanks for your reply. As I said before I don understand why mobile site got all preference suddenly. It all happened after I changed the hosting.
**Just a quick question: **
- Google still has your mobile homepage cached at http://www.m.royalevents.com.au/
I am redirecting http://www.m.royalevents.com.au/ to royalevents.com.au is that fine .?
And How do I deindex ? Should I use remove URL?
-
You have two major problems that could cause this problem.
-
Google still has your mobile homepage cached at http://www.m.royalevents.com.au/
-
You have a lot of duplicate content from the homepage. Google may be indexing some of the other content. http://bit.ly/17ZjXiw
If you add some unique content, get that mobile homepage deindexed (claim in WMT, fetch) then you should see the homepage come back.
-
-
currently you've got pagination on your page (rel=next/prev) this acts like a canonical link (telling Google the page is a duplicate of another) remove the following meta:
<link rel='<a rel="nofollow" target="_blank">prev</a>' title='<a rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Contact Us</a>' href='<a rel="nofollow" target="_blank">http://royalevents.com.au/contacts/</a>' /><link rel='<a rel="nofollow" target="_blank">next</a>' title='<a rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Contact Us</a>' href='<a rel="nofollow" target="_blank">http://royalevents.com.au/contacts/</a>' />
And you should find you bounce back. Let me know if you want me to talk some more about it and i would be happy to break it down further.

HI Chris, Thanks for your reply,
Fetch as Google didnt have any problem. I submitted it to Index. see below two dropbox link.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/7z6uuvcn4rbcrd6/fetch%20as%20google.JPG?dl=0
https://www.dropbox.com/s/86gtyos8173eosu/HomePage%20-%20Fetch%20as%20Google.txt?dl=0
And I didnt understand the point you mention about 'canonical' and how does it affect. Can you please explain bit more and what I need to do . Thanks you very much
-
hello,
First off what happened when you did fetch as Google? it should give you a message if there was a problem. Not that it is the problem but the following won't be doing you any favors:
<link rel='<a class="attribute-value">prev</a>' title='<a class="attribute-value">Contact Us</a>' href='[http://royalevents.com.au/contacts/](view-source:http://royalevents.com.au/contacts/)' /><link rel='<a class="attribute-value">next</a>' title='<a class="attribute-value">Contact Us</a>' href='[http://royalevents.com.au/contacts/](view-source:http://royalevents.com.au/contacts/)' /> it will be acting a bit like a canonical link pointing towards the contact page. The other thing it amy be is your canonical is pointing towards http://royalevents.com.au/ but your redirects all go to http://royalevents.com.au again this is not going to be helping you. Hope that helps a bit, if you could let us know what happens with fetch as Google it can help. Looking at it I am very confidant the pagination i the problem acting like a canonical to the contact page. Remove it and fetch and you should be good. good luck

Can using url builder for campaign tracking impact link equity?
We have used the URL builder tools for building custom links that are placed on our referrer websites mainly for campaign tracking in Google Analytics, but when you use a shortened link on another website how does that impact the the link juice or equity? Is there any negative impact on the link rankings? Or should you provide the specific landing page url to the company that will be posting a link to your site?

Forward slash on URL on Duplicate Content Report
Hi I'm new to this whole Moz thing, so needing help from some kind people! I've just looked at my Duplicate Page Content report and there are loads of URLs in there which are the same but are just differentiated by adding / at the end of the URL, e.g. http://youngepilepsy.org.uk/news-and-events/events http://youngepilepsy.org.uk/news-and-events/events/ Is this be a canonical issue? I can't understand why though as these aren't at the root. However when we add inline text links within the page HTML, there are some URLs with / and some without, could that be the reason? Thanks for your help! Jackie

Why am I getting different ranking results on Google?
Because the rank checker on SEOMOZ is temporarily down for upgrade, I followed the link over to the other suggested rank checker on seobook.com which installs a plug-in to Firefox and it seems to be working fine….BUT my question is when I check out my two highest traffic keywords which are “Whitby holiday cottages” and “Whitby cottages” against my website www.endeavourcottage.co.uk it tells me I'm ranking position 2 on both Google.com and Google.co.uk but I don't think I am. When I do the same check using a proxy server called hidemyass.com to check my rankings again on Google.co.uk and .com I appeared to be lower down the rankings like position 8. Does anyone have any idea of which is the accurate reference to my rankings? What do you do to check your rankings ? And one last quick secondary question is when I searching Google chrome using same key words again I come at the top position A on the Google maps listing but using Firefox or Internet Explorer there is no Google maps visible ways that? At the end of the day out rankings are important but where are working towards more traffic...... Cheers

Duplicate page content on / and index.php
Hi I am new to SEOmoz and in the crawl diagnostics for one of my clients it came back duplicate content on the homepage www.myclient.co.uk and on the www.myclient.co.uk/index.php which is obviously the same page. I understand that the key is to do a 301 redirect from the index to /, however how will I know that this will not just create an ever ending loop on the server? From your experience how is the best way to tackle this crawl error? Also is there a specific question that I need to ask the server?

Duplicate page content and search in Magento
Hi all, Firstly, I am a business owner and not a SEO genuis but I work on my site and am learning how to "tweek" everyday. That said, my site www.vintagetimes.com.au needs a bit more than a tweek. Here is problem 1: I have massive duplicate page content which is being driven primarily by search and I'm not sure how to tackle the issue. Working in Magento. Could anybody give me an instruction on how to steer robots away from search results? I would also like to know WHY a search result is here as well? Example of about 20 pages of this type of result: | Search results for: '1 carat' Vintage Times http://www.vintagetimes.com.au/catalogsearch/result/index/?q=1+carat&enable_googlecheckout=1 50+ 1 0 Search results for: '1 carat' Vintage Times http://www.vintagetimes.com.au/catalogsearch/result/index/?q=1+carat&enable_googlecheckout=1&cat=21 50+ 1 0 Search results for: '1 carat' Vintage Times http://www.vintagetimes.com.au/catalogsearch/result/index/?q=1+carat&enable_googlecheckout=1&cat=21&order=created_at&dir=asc 50+ 1 0 Search results for: '1 carat' Vintage Times http://www.vintagetimes.com.au/catalogsearch/result/index/?q=1+carat&enable_googlecheckout=1&cat=21&order=metal&dir=asc 50+ 1 0 Search results for: '1 carat' Vintage Times http://www.vintagetimes.com.au/catalogsearch/result/index/?q=1+carat&enable_googlecheckout=1&cat=21&order=name&dir=asc 50+ 1 0 Search results for: '1 carat' Vintage Times http://www.vintagetimes.com.au/catalogsearch/result/index/?q=1+carat&enable_googlecheckout=1&cat=21&order=price&dir=asc 50+ 1 0 Search results for: '1 carat' Vintage Times http://www.vintagetimes.com.au/catalogsearch/result/index/?q=1+carat&enable_googlecheckout=1&cat=21&order=relevance&dir=asc 50+ 1 0 Search results for: '1 carat' Vintage Times http://www.vintagetimes.com.au/catalogsearch/result/index/?q=1+carat&enable_googlecheckout=1&cat=21&order=stone&dir=asc | 50+ | 1 | 0 |

Crawler reporting incorrect URLs, resulting in false errors...
The SEOmoz crawler is showing 236 Duplicate Page Titles. When I go in to see what page titles are duplicated I see that the URLs in question are incorrect and read "/about/about/..." instead of just "/about/" The shown page duplicates are the result of the crawler is ending up on the "Page not found" page. Could it be the result of using relative links on the site? Anything I can do to remedy? Thanks for your help! -Frank

Metrics from Linkscape - DJ Passed, URL mozRank Passed and funny numbers
Hello, Hoping someone can help me understand the difference between the Domain Juice Passed and some interesting numbers found in the exported CSV file. I ran the Advanced Link Intelligence Report and focusing on the Links to Domain metrics. It looks like the report is sorted by mozRank passed but next to each link we are given the DJ Passed instead. Why is that? My confusion is compounded by the fact that when I export the CSV of this report it no longer includes the DJ Passed numbers but does show URL mozRank Passed instead. For Example, on the web version of the Advanced Link Intelligence Report the top link is: http://www.holdenouterwear.com/shop.php with mozRank: 5.56 mozTrust: 5.95 and DJ Passed: 4.49 In the CSV file we don't get the DJ passed but get the URL mozRank Passed of: 0.00051 Looking at the CSV file further some links have URL mozRank Passed of 4.00E-05 Anyone has a clear explanation of why DJ Passed is not in the CSV file and how the mozRank passed is calculated? And what the 4.00E-05 mean? Thank you.
