Link Request Email on Site`s Link Pages
-
Hello
I have assembled a list of web-sites that have "Links" section that has a list of persons` favorite tools.
Those pages have a link to my competitor. I know my tool is just as good if not better and want to request a link.
I`m thinking of sending an email asking for a link and offering a small amount of money for it.
Questions:
A) How much should I offer? Should I offer anything at all
B) Is there an email style that someone can suggest that has been tested and proven to work for this type of situtation?
-
The only links you want to be paying for are advertising ones if that's the route you're taking. If your tool is equally as good then they'll usually be more than happy to link to it!
-
Well there is, but you want to only use it for reference as one of the biggest issues with it being successful is how personal it is (so never stick to a generic template). There's tonnes of tips out there, this URL should do the trick

Great replies, as far as the question A), for question B) are there any type of boiler template you can recommend or just play it by the ear?

Alan is totally right, offering money for it is the wrong path to take, plus, as you'll need links more and more you'll forever be paying for them. Are the sites even that good that the links are of any value? If the page already links out to loads of people then that could make the link worth less.
Sure, pay for a link off of a site with huge credibility (as advertising), but not any old site with a links page.
Write something they'd like to link to and then tell them it exists.

I would not recommend offering money for it. I would simply ask to be included, or at the very least, what the criteria are for being placed on the page. Links from such pages are not as valuable as you might think as far as SEO goes - they might be valuable if you believe a lot of people who are your ideal market go to such a page and click through.
Another factor is whether the page is clearly labeled as advertising space. If it is, then sure, a fee would be valid. But only based on statistics or data showing visitor usage and click averages, to justify the fee. If it's not clearly defined as ad space, paying violates Google's terms of service (and possibly the FTC's rules on disclosure) and should be done with extreme caution.

What's the best way of crawling my entire site to get a list of NoFollow links?
Hi all, hope somebody can help. I want to crawl my site to export an audit showing: All nofollow links (what links, from which pages) All external links broken down by follow/nofollow. I had thought Moz would do it, but that's not in Crawl info. So I thought Screaming Frog would do it, but unless I'm not looking in the right place, that only seems to provide this information if you manually click down each link and view "Inlinks" details. Surely this must be easy?! Hope someone can nudge me in the right direction... Thanks....

After adding a ssl certificate to my site I encountered problems with duplicate pages and page titles
Hey everyone! After adding a ssl certificate to my site it seems that every page on my site has duplicated it's self. I think that is because it has combined the www.domainname.com and domainname.com. I would really hate to add a rel canonical to every page to solve this issue. I am sure there is another way but I am not sure how to do it. Has anyone else ran into this problem and if so how did you solve it? Thanks and any and all ideas are very appreciated.

301's & Link Juice
So lets say we have a site that has 0 page rank (kind of new) has few incoming links, nothing significant compared to the other sites. Now from what I understand link juice flows throughout the site. So, this site is a news site, and writes sports previews and predictions and what not. After a while, a game from 2 months gets 0 hits, 0 search queries, nobody cares. Wouldn't it make sense to take that type of expired content and have it 301 to a different page. That way the more relevant content gets the juice, thus giving it a better ranking... Just wondering what everybody's thought its on this link juice thing, and what am i missing..

What's the best internal linking strategy for articles and on-site resources?
We recently added an education center to our site with articles and information about our products and industry. What is the best way to link to and from that content? There are two options I'm considering: Link to articles from category and subcategory pages under a section called "related articles" and link back to these category and subcategory pages from the articles: category page <<--------->> education center article education center article <<---------->> subcategory page Only link from the articles to the category and subcategory pages: education center article ---------->> category page education center article ---------->> subcategory page Would #1 dilute the SEO value of the category and subcategory pages? I want to offer shoppers links to more information if they need it, but this may also take them away from the products. Has anyone tested this? Thanks!

Link Building for "State" informational pages
I have a webpage for all 50 states for specific info relating to relocation and was wondering if there are any recommended links to work at getting for these pages. I would like to do "state" specific and possibly health related links for each page to help in the SEO rankings. I can see that if I just wanted to get 10 links on each page that is going to be 500 links I have to build and it is going to be very time consuming but I feel it is necessary. Thank you, Poo

Best practice to change the URL of all my site pages
Hi, I need to change all my site pages URL as a result of moving the site into another CMS platform that has its own URL structure: Currently the site is highly ranked for all relevant KWs I am targeting. All pages have backlinks Content and meta data should remain exactly the same. The domain should stay the same The plan is as follow: Set up the new site using a temporary domain name Copy over all content and meta data Set up all redirects (301) Update the domain name and point the live domain to the new one Watch closely for 404 errors and add any missing redirects Questions: Any comments on the plan? Is there a way (the above plan or any other) to make sure ranking will not be hurt What entries should I add to the sitemap.xml: new pages only or new pages and the pages from the old site? Thanks, Guy.

Tool to calculate the number of pages in Google's index?
When working with a very large site, are there any tools that will help you calculate the number of links in the Google index? I know you can use site:www.domain.com to see all the links indexed for a particular url. But what if you want to see the number of pages indexed for 100 different subdirectories (i.e. www.domain.com/a, www.domain.com/b)? is there a tool to help automate the process of finding the number of pages from each subdirectory in Google's index?
