IP address geolocation

I would classify our site as large (www.covers.com), with our primary target being traffic within the US (about 70%) but I have a feeling we are limited by our IP being located within Canada. I have changed all the targeting to the US in WMT, but could undertake a project to virtually 'move' the site to a US IP, if there would be benefit. I have found articles coming down on both sides of the issue.

Thank you. We did try to have a .uk version of our site, which failed, but there was less of a focus on making that change for SEO reasons. I will keep the country TLD in mind going forward. We are on the verge of some language-specific content so that might be a good time to consider this.
Thanks!

Physically hosting your server in a target country does help, but that help is miniscule. In Geotargeting, the largest signals come from your link profile. So if your links come from the US primarily, you should rank better in the US. You also have a genertic TLD instead of a ccTLD, which helps.
Some possible actions to help your site be seen as US would be to do some marketing within the US. Another option is to see if you can get covers.ca and then work on geotargeting that site to Canadians. That would send a strong signal that covers.com is aimed at the US.

Some more context: we get a large and disproportionate quantity of traffic from Canada, which generally indicates we are being treated as 'Canadian content'.

Migration + Change of Address Tool used - previous site de-indexed!!
OMG disaster! Recently migrated my site womencycles.com to moonrise.health. Painstakingly went through each URL manually to map out redirects, notified Google via change of address tool. Bam. My old website has disappeared from Google and my new site has thus lost all it's organic (i.e. redirected) traffic. I don't get it. I think I have done everything by the book, but it seems my old site has disappeared and no authority or link juice has been passed to my new site by the 301s, as the new site isn't ranking either. Different Domains on Same IP
Hello I'm just wondering how much of a difference it makes having links to a site from 2 separate domains that are on the same IP, compared to if the domains were on separate IPs? Thank you! Sam

Re: Auto Detection of Currency based on IP & Google SEO
Greetings to the fellow Moz community members! On an e-commerce site, I am using a script to change the default currency of storefront based on IP detection ( GBP for UK visitors, CAD for Canadian visitors and so on). My question is : can this create any problems at all in Google Crawling or Indexing? Will google be able to understand the setup? I don't think this should trigger the "cloaking" or presenting different content to search engines vs users, but just want to double check from the collective wisdom here. Thanks for reading, and wish you a good day ahead. Warm Regards Amit

Hi there, I'm not massively experienced with creating mod rewrite rules and I'm worried I've got this wrong as its slightly different to what I'm used to. The web dev and content creators were working on http://5.10.105.45/~isea/ to create content. I want to redirect all URL's to www.iseasurfwear.co.uk. This is what I've written //Rewrite to www

Change of address form in Webmaster Tools
I have changed my domain from .co.uk to .com and tried to submit a change of address form in Google Webmaster Tools. However it seems because I redirect my home page onto www.domain.com/index.php I cannot submit the form as it is not a domain name. Is there a way round this? It is not currently an option to move away from www.domain.com/index.php Thanks in advance

How to move many domains form an address to another?
We need to move a site from a domain to another one, and there are also hundreds or even thousands of subdomains to move. What would be the best practise to do it in order to save at least some of the visibility in search results?

Cloudflare Email Address Protecting & SEO
I have a client who uses Cloudflare to protect their email address on their website from spam and when I crawl their site looking for errors it causes it to report multiple broken links on each page. Does anyone know how this impacts SEO? Should I recommend removing Cloudflare?
