WIll Moz local submit to all local directories?
-
I have some variance in my company name (spacing/nospacing) and even my web address, www/non-www so I want to consolidate all of them. On top of that I need to build up my local citations so need to submit to more local directories.
Will Moz local take away the job of local directory submission from me? I understand they use like 5 data aggregators, I understand they are the directories of directories, so does that mean these 4 will submit to local directories for me? How many local directories is moz local suppose to get you on?
Also I understand it can take a month for your listing to show. In this case, would it not be better to just do it manually? I mean if I submit to yell.com now it's going to be there instantly, on top of that If I don't have the time I can outsource the work to India for very cheap and probably cost less than £84?
Thanks

Hi There,
Thanks for writing us and I hope this message finds you all amazingly well! While we generally try not to make direct comparisons to competitors, we do love speaking on Moz. Moz is generally excellent because we will actively manage the listing for the course of a year, so edits and to the listing are a part of an annual subscription. After taking a look into Bright Local it seems that they are a monthly service and may have a different policy on edits and changes.
David Mihm does an awesome job of covering some of the advanced reporting available in Moz Local. https://moz.com/blog/announcing-local-reporting
I would review that and hopefully other users who have encountered Bright Local in the past, can better speak to the services they provide.
In the meantime if you have any questions for me let me know!

Thank you for a very detailed reply.
Is there any advantage to using moz local as oppose to doing it manually yourself then, apart from saving time? I mean for example, websites like localeze is premium but would be included free in moz local?
Bright local charges $2-3 per citation, so for 7 citations as Moz offers that's a max of $21? Surely much more economical?
I'm trying to see the advantage of using moz local.
Thanks

Hey there! I've been using Moz Local since it's inception.
I will try to respond to all of your questions and I will give you some tips on things to consider in the local business directory submission process.
Will Moz local take away the job of local directory submission from me?
Moz local will take away the job of claiming your local business ONLY FOR 7 WEBSITES / LOCAL DIRECTORIES. Moz Local will submit your business to 7 sources; 4 data aggregators and 3 major local directories. The data aggregators are Localeze, Infogroup, Factual and Acxiom. The local directories are Foursquare, BOTW Local, and Superpages (Some may consider DexMedia a data aggregator). You will not need to claim these local business listings manually. Moz Local will take care of it. If you ever need to update business information in any of these sites/directories I highly recommend you do it in Moz Local first.
So does that mean these 4 (data aggregators) will submit to local directories for me?
The answer is yes. There is a BUT though. The 4 data aggregators will push your business data to many local directories BUT you still need to manually claim your business listing in all of those websites and local directories. You may be asking, _"How long does it take to see my business listing data in other websites and local directories?" - _This gets kind of tricky because it truly depends on the individual site, not the data aggregator. It's determined by how sophisticated their system really is. The local directory websites that have overall better user experiences tend to update their data often. For example, I know from experience that your business listing data will show up in Citysearch within a week or two because their database is closely tied to Infogroup (One of the main data aggregators) and it's udpated often. You still have to manually claim your Citysearch listing though. Bing also updates their data pretty fast. Localeze supplies a ton of websites with data but I know it can take some time for those sites to receive updated information about businesses.
Also I understand it can take a month for your listing to show. In this case, would it not be better to just do it manually?
I would highly recommend using Moz Local for the 7 websites that they submit to. It's easier to manage your data that way. With my experience, your business will show up instantly in a few websites but others will take time. Refer to the list below:
- Infogroup - Instant
- Localeze - Instant (maybe a couple hours)
- Factual - 24-48 hours
- Acxiom - This one can take a few weeks.
- Foursquare - Instant, but you just need to create a Foursquare account to sync it with Moz Local. (Takes 1 minute)
- BOTW Local - Pretty fast but it varies. I've seen it happen within a few hours and I've seen 1-2 weeks.
- SuperPages - This directory is by far the worst. SuperPages is not Moz Local's friend. Believe it or not, I've submitted some local businesses to Moz Local weeks ago and they are still not showing up in SuperPages. This one may be best to go and manually claim yourself if you want faster results.
Those results are completely based on my experience with the product.
The only local directories that you should claim immediately are the major ones such as Yelp, Yahoo, Facebook, Google, HotFrog, etc... You will need to claim those manually because it can take weeks for your business data to show in some major local directories. For smaller sites, I would wait minimum 6 weeks until you go and claim em'.
On top of that If I don't have the time I can outsource the work to India for very cheap and probably cost less than £84?
I don't recommend you outsource the work to India. The quality is just terrible but it's really up to you. With my experience, workers in India make many errors and they do not complete the listings 100%. Completing the listing 100% is one of the most important things in the process. Keeping the information consistent is also key. I've worked with over 25+ individuals and agencies in India, so take my word for it. It's best to claim your local directories yourself or in-house.
Hopefully, that gives you some direction on the local business directory submission process. If I confused you in any way please let me know and I'll be happy to address the topic in detail. Take care, and good luck!
Daniel L.

Unsolved Local Moz Listing Absent on Map for 7-Year-Old Business: Sockgeeks.co.uk
I'm facing an issue with the local Moz listing for my client's 7-year-old business at https://sockgeeks.co.uk Despite following best practices like GMB verification and NAP consistency, the business isn't showing on Moz Maps. Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your assistance.

I am new to MOZ
I just purchased MOZ local for a client on a brand new location. I had already submitted the NAP to the big four google, yahoo, bing, yelp. I purchased the 99/year basic plan and now I am a bit confused. Will MOZ submit to the local directories in the network or out of the network that does not have a listing in place (Business New Address) so no listings exist besides the ones I mentioned. Also, it says it will send it to all four aggregators, is this true and how can I verify? Can someone explain what I should expect? YIKES, I hope this is not a dumb question for those MOZer gurus :). If it doesn't what did I just buy? A way to monitor Google? Please assist. I need to get NAP data out there for local directories for a customer. Should I have done this a different way? Thanks in advance,

How long do Facebook and Google pages have to be published before Moz can verify them?
Hi there. I've checked the forums and have seen similar questions, but couldn't find an answer in them. I have a listing that I imported from my Google My Business account, but it comes up as unverified for both Facebook and Google. Both pages exist, but have only been published for about 3 weeks. Both sites contain the accurate business information and are the appropriate types of pages, so the best I can determine from what I've read in the other posts is that "newly" published Facebook and Google pages may not be able to be verified by Moz Local. So the question is, what is considered "newly published"? The Facebook business page is: https://www.facebook.com/JTBentonConsulting/ The Google+ page is: https://plus.google.com/b/114469171569907148968/+JTBentonConsultingAdamstown?pageId=114469171569907148968&hl=en The name registered for Google My Business is: J T Benton Consulting - Mobile Notary Public Any ideas?

Employees using the Dealership's address and popping up as duplicates in Moz Local?
We are using Moz Local and have a client who's salespeople create individual Facebook Pages for themselves and use the storefront's address. They are noted as duplicates. How much does this really hurt local SEO?

MOZ Local not picking up citations
Hello - We like using the MOZ dashboard as an indicator of SEO health but have run into an instance where we have two citations with the correct NAP that are not being picked up in the MOZ report. The City Search and InsiderPages listings were build through YEXT and have been up for two months. Is there a way to report a match to MOZ?

Incorrect client zip code in Moz Local
I have a client that I am pushing citations through Moz Local for. The business zip code in Moz is listed as 80111 and should be 80110. I have verified that the zip is correct on both Google My Business and Facebook. I'm not finding any duplicate Google pages either. Any Idea why this wouldn't push back to Moz Local?

What do I do if Moz Local is pulling the wrong business citation?
Hi everyone, I have several business listings that I manage on Moz Local, and a lot of them have similar names. I'm running into an issue where Moz Local is pulling a citation (Ex. Google+, YP, Superpages) for the wrong business, and it is affecting my listing score. Has anyone else ever run into this issue? What did you do about it? Thanks in advance for your help!

Moz Local - "Not Submitted"
After a successful CSV submission to Moz Local, the only one that isn't submitted is Acxiom. It says "not submitted, not updated". Why is this? Will it just take more time? Is there an issue and if so, how can I rectify it? Thank you.
