My friend, there likely is no answer to this issue, and the responses you've received pretty well cover the possibilities. They've come from folks known to be experts, as well. To get more specific would require testing against the site in question, and for that you'll need to hire a consultant.
Please be courteous and respect the community members who have generously given of their time and knowledge to answer your question.
If you have questions about our community etiquette guidelines or thoughts you'd like to share, please email us at community@moz.com.

wow all of you saying tone and tone and tone. as you all have no exact answer to this issue. any way I think MOZ and Majestic are still in very early stages. As there are plenty of examples I can give which when you all see you will have no answer to it and will say your tone this and your tone that.
take care all....
-
Great point Marie!
-
Dear editors,
This question has been answered, I think it should be closed now.
Thanks,
-
You've gotten some good responses so far. I'll add a couple of my thoughts.
There are still LOTS of sites that can get away with spam and not get caught by Penguin. I haven't investigated this site, but it's possible that the links are on a private blog network that Penguin was not able to recognize as a link scheme.
And who knows...perhaps they've got their bad links disavowed. It's also possible that Google is ranking this site because users tend to engage with it.

Typo fixed on penguin vs panda. There have been a lot of Panda updates lately and I have that on my brain. Regardless of the algo mentioned, Google is not perfect and things slip through and they are not all rolled out in all countries at the same time. Just a general FYI.
I did not think you meant to be rude, just letting you know as some people may take the wrong way.
Cheers!
-
Tanveerayakhan,
You have your answer.
- http://goo.gl/Twp28T is NOT ranking on page 1 on google.com. (I searched for "web hosting Pakistan" incognito while in the US and it came up on page 2, #12.)
- Google's algorithms are imperfect. http://goo.gl/Twp28T is ranking as well as it does due to known black hat tactics which haven't caught up with it yet.
- If you want to out-do it, be patient, persist and "try and defeat the site on merits. Build up your domain authority."
- You should watch your tone and maybe show some appreciation for those that are volunteering to help you. (Otherwise you'll stop getting suggestions.)
- If you're not getting the answer you want, feel free to hire an expert. Moz does provide a list of recommended companies that provide consulting services.
-
To be honest, with your 'tone' through here, telling people they are not experts and general manner, I would be surprised if anyone else would want to chip in. If they do, please try to keep this in mind.
Remember, that everyone in here does it for their love of SEO and the MOZ community. Noone (other than MOZ employees) are paid to be on here, so perhaps don't call levels of proficiency in to question, because anyone answering is trying to help.

Dear Moosa have you any alternate solution???
or you will focus on my words and say its rude
please guys come on topic again.
-
1. I absolutely agree with you!
2. Obviously i am not an expert but I tried to explain this point to him as per my knowledge and experience but i guess he want some "expert" to explain this to him.
3. Thank you for pointing this out as the tone was pretty much rude (to be atleast).
-
Thank you for your response, as you mentioned Google can't role out in all countries but if I tell you this website is ranked in google.com too now what will be your answer.
and I asked for penguin not panda.
and I asked for experts because I am also the same level as you and the other 2 who answered here so all your answers are not logical. So please give any other reason you think it can be. Thanks. and I am not rude I knew its a hard question that why I said experts should answer.
-
-
The site is ranking due to spammy links, this is why the site, despite having a "large" number of links has a low DA etc.
-
Why is it not hit with Penguin (corrected from Panda sorry typo)? While Google is pretty good, it is not perfect. People can still get away with this stuff (sad to say). Also, Google does not roll out all updates to all countries that Google works in at the same time. They have to account for things like differences in languages etc. So, it could be possible that this site would not rank in Google US at this time, but maybe in other countries.
-
Word of advice. Beggars can't be choosers. Your question qualification of "expert answers only please", could be considered a little rude as most everyone on here is doing this for free and because they want to help other people in the community. If you want expert advice only, then pay for a consultant, otherwise just be appreciative of the nice folks who are willing to chime in and hopefully point you in the right direction.
Cheers!

To be 100% I am not guaranteeing these links are saving the site however links like http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=1377228 are related content.
Thus any IT, Hosting type links are related topics. Such type of links maybe outweighing the more obvious spam links. Hope this assists.
I am not sure if anyone can take it further, it is a bit intuition and then a detailed comparison study between other sites on the SERP.
-
which backlinks you are saying about which you said are saving this site?
-
Interesting had a look at the links. Correct pure spam links. Ironically there is a nexus between some of the backlinks sites and the genre of the website pointed to - so I assume that is what is saving the site from a penguin penalty.
The traffic is not great. So tanveerayakhan I am not sure I can answer the question. In summary it is a black hat site with limited traffic ranking well.
I would try and defeat the site on it merits. Build up your domain authority.
Also have you tried contacting the sites where http://pkwebhost.com/ gets the links from? Try and get them deleted. If they are true spam sites - they will do anything for only a little money... a bit cheeky, but it seems you are aggrieved.
-
Not sure what exactly is a satisfactory answer to him
but as far as results in Google.com they are not always as per the guidelines. Type in “SEO Services” and you will find companies who are ranking on basis of blog comment spam.
But they are much better than what I use to see previous year!
I think Google is working hard to make their SERP results pure but they are 100% pure and as per the guidelines is not something I will agree with.
It’s a process and it will take time #iguess
-
What is?
-
Well that is also not appropriate answer as it is ranking in google.com too on first page....
-
Are you sure about that?
-
I am in Pakistan and that is why I do check websites in rankings from time to time and I have to say that there are many niches and areas where Google still allow spammy websites especially when it comes to Google.com.pk (maybe because Google give less important in our area).
The best idea is to report this URL to Google to bring this to their attention and may be in the next Google penguin update, this got hit.
In my opinion, there is not much you cannot do other than reporting it to Google.
Hope this helps!
-
Yes, the domain is propped up by pure spam. Have you reported it to The Googles? Venting on the forums may feel nice, but it doesn't get anything done.
-
O come on I know about it, but my question is why its ranking from about 3 years on first page first position. why Google not slapping it. Its a huge surprise for me as there are authority sites below it... amazing...
Has any moz expert an answer to it????
Is moz and majestic failed??? or lacking???
-
It's ranking due to pure spam.
-
Here is the link for you and all others who have answer to my question
-
-
What do you mean i have to mention it..... you mean the domain to mention here?
-
I'm sure some folks can tell you all about this evil, no good, site. But you kind of have to mention it, one way or another. URL shorteners are a good way to do so.

Complicated Title Tag Issues. Experts, Please Help!
Hey there Moz community! This is the first time I ask a question here so please forgive me if I miss any forum etiquette. I am managing SEO for an educational site which is built in React Js, and so far much of the job has been keyword research and site optimization. The site still has slow PageSpeed though. The Issues - 4 weeks ago we published 20 or so content pieces, I had pre-prepared title tags and meta descriptions. But when we released the content there was a programming error that made all of the pages show another title tag for all 20 pages instead of the pre-prepared individual title tags. I noticed this after 3 days and the issue was fixed within 6 days, but by then Google had crawled and indexed the pages. And now I can't get Google to change to the pre-prepared tags no matter what I do! I've tried changing the content, changing the URL of one of the pages, and I've sent Google spiders to re-crawl the pages multiple times. The super weird thing is that the correct title tag shows in the 'navigation bar/tabs bar' on google chrome:
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | LeowaBut NOT when I view the source code for the page:
Yesterday I was taking a walk in the park and I just couldn't stop thinking about it (it is really starting to get to me by now since nothing works), so I ran back home and looked closely at one of these pages in the Google search console. And I noticed something I hadn't seen before… BOTH of the title tags can be found in the HTML: Pre-prepared title tag: <title></strong>UK Seat Belt & Car Seat Laws: The Definitive Guide<strong></title>
The other title tag (in src section): title=Ace%20The%20DMV%20Permit%20Test%20%26%20Get%20Your%20License
Could this be the problem or what do you think? I've understood that Google has automated title tags and that they can choose their own if they think it fits better, but the title tags aren't even close to describing the topic as it is now so it doesn’t make any sense. All answers are greatly appreciated! Your advice is life-saving for a learner like me. P.S. I love SEO but it can be very frustrating sometimes! Thank you very much, Leo

I have a metadata issue. My site crawl is coming back with missing descriptions, but all of the pages look like site tags (i.e. /blog/?_sft_tag=call-routing)

New site causes massive drop off in ranking, old site restored how long to recover?
Hello, We launched and updated version of our site, mainly design changes and some functionality. 3 days after the launch we vanished from the rankings, previous page one results were now out of the top 100. We have identified some of the issues with the new site and chose to restore the old well ranking site. My question is how long might it take for the ranking to come back, if at all? The drop happened on the third day and the site was restored on the third day. We are now on day 6. Using GWT with have used fetch as Google and resubmitted the site map. Any help would be gladly received. Thanks James

Why is a site no longer being indexed by Google after HTTPS switch?
A client of ours recently had a new site built and made the switch to HTTPS. We made sure to redirect all of the HTTP pages to HTTPS and submitted a new sitemap to Google. GWT says the sitemap was submitted successfully but only 4 pages have been indexed where there should be over 2000. This has led to a plummet of organic traffic and we can't find the issue. Has anyone else had issues/success with doing a HTTPS switch that knows how to fix this problem?

Micro sites?
Hi, I have been speaking to seo firms regarding strategies and they mentioned setting up micro sites under domains that are relevant. i.e setting up armanidoamin.co.uk and we use it as a blog type site to update all info, product reviews, news relating to armani. Whats peoples thoughts on this? Does it work? Is it worth the effort? Im not so sure but obviously looking for ideas. Cheers

Google penalized site--307/302 redirect to new site-- Via intermediate link—New Site Ranking Gone..?
Hi, I have a site that google had placed a manual link penalty on, let’s call this our
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | Robdob2013
company site. We tried and tried to get the penalty removed, and finally gave up and purchased another name. It was our understanding that we could safely use either a 302 or 307 temporary redirect in order to redirect people from our old domain to our new one.. We put this into place several months and everything seemed to be going along well. Several days ago I noticed that our root domain name had dropped for our selected keyword from position 9 to position 65. Upon looking into our GWT under “Links to Your site” , I have found many, many, many links which were pointed to our old google penalized domain name to our new root domain name each of this links had a sub heading “Via this intermediate link -> Our Old Domain Google Penalized Domain Name” In light of all of this going on, I have removed the 307/302 redirect, have brought the
old penalized site back which now consists of a basic “we’ve moved page” which is linked to our new site using a rel=’nofollow’ I am hoping that -1- Our new domain has probably not received a manual penalty and is most likely now
received some sort of algorithmic penalty, and that as these “intermediate links” will soon disappear because I’m no longer doing the 302/307 from the old sight to the new. Do you think this is the case now or that I now have a new manual penalty place on the new
domain name.. I would very much appreciate any comments and/or suggestions as to what I should or can do to get this fixed. I need to still keep the old domain name as this address has already been printed on business cards many, many years ago.. Also on a side note some of the sub pages of the new root domain are still ranking very
well, it’s only the root domain that is now racking awfully.. Thanks,0 -
Google +1 and Yslow
After adding Google's +1 script and call to our site (loading asynchronously), we noticed Yslow is giving us a D for not having expire headers for the following scripts: https://apis.google.com/js/plusone.js
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | GKLA
https://www.google-analytics.com/ga.js
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com... 1. Is their a workaround for this issue, so expire headers are added to to plusone and GA script? Or, are we being to nit-picky about this issue?0 -
Most user friendly review sites for Google Shopping
Hello all, Have multiple ecommerce projects going right now and thought I'd throw this one out there. We use follow up emails to try to encourage reviews for customers to all of our ecommerce stores, but find that many of them are pretty tedious as far as registering to write reviews and requiring a lot of information to get started. We primarily use Reseller Ratings and Trustpilot, but were interested if anyone had better luck using some different sites that Google also crawls for review data. Any input is appreciated. Thanks.
