Irrelevant Landing Pages are Ranking on Google SERP

Hi,
I have noticed that Google likes to rank random pages on my site higher in the SERPs than the actual relevant content page for that service.
Please let me know why it is happening?

What page do you rank at? I can't find your website in rankings at all.
P.S. on .net jobs in title it says "jobs jobs", as well as in url.

When I search .NET Jobs in Bangalore in Google.co.in, this URL http://www.wisdomjobs.com/jobsearch/jobs-in-bangalore-bengaluru is ranking in SERP whereas the correct URL for searched keyword should be http://www.wisdomjobs.com/jobsearch/dotnet-jobs-jobs-in-bangalore.. The same problem is happening in most of the keywords.

Ok, so how do you make sure that seo sanjose jobs page is optimized? are you using breadcrumbs? Are you using schema breadcrumbs? what about url? any text/content, which targets seo job in sanjose besides the actual jobs?

I am talking about a job portal. If user is searching seo job in Sanjose then Google should rank landing page in which seo jobs in Sanjose are listed but in my case, Google is ranking landing page in which SEO Jobs are not listed or if SEO Jobs are listed then city is different.

If you really believe the page that's ranking shouldn't be and you have another similar or duplicate page, then I would set the canonical tag pointing to the original/better page you have on your site. If you're using the landing page for something like email only, and have another page on the site dedicated to the topic then I would use a no-index tag on the landing page to prevent it from being indexed.
Both cases will send a signal to Google to not include the landing page in the index.
If you can provide examples of what you're seeing, I think we could give you some actionable advice how to proceed.

Hi there.
How do you decide that "actual relevant content page for that service"? Is it just because the page H1 has that service name or you actually did keyword research, specifically targeted that page to be a landing page for the query you are talking about and backed up your page with relevant internal and external links to increase page authority?
If you think about it, pretty much always you see index page of websites ranking for most of keywords, even though there are service (or any internal) pages, which "should" be ranking for those keywords. And all that happening due to improper (or lack) of optimization.

What should I do if same content ranked twice or more on Google?

Blog page and homepage ranking next to each other for same keyword
Hello, I have my homepage that has been existing for 10 years that is ranked in 18 th position on google for the keyword luxury bike tours. This homepage doesn't have any external link or internal links saying luxury bike tours and nowhere in the title or on the page do I have the word luxury. I only have the words bike and tours. I created a blog page 24 hours ago that has the word luxury, bike and tours in the title and it is ranked in 19 th position just behind my homepage. I am wondering how it can be there and my homepage just be one spot above with all the history and linking it has ? Is it due to the fact that I have the word luxury in the title ? Is it just because my internal linking structure is correct and this blog page is brand new and will my homepage rank higher in the near future but see that I just redid the structure I need to wait a few months ?

How to rank my website in Google UK?
Hi guys, I own a London based rubbish removal company, but don't have enough jobs. I know for sure that some of my competitors get most of their jobs trough Google searches. I also have a website, but don't receive calls from it at all. Can you please tell me how to rank my website on keywords like: "rubbish removal london", "waste clearance london", "junk collection london" and other similar keywords? I know that for person like me (without much experience in online marketing) will be difficult task to optimize the website, but at least - I need some advices from where to start. I'm also thinking to hire an SEO but not sure where to find a trusted company. Most importantly I have no idea how much should pay to expect good results? What is too much and what is too low? I will appreciate all advices.

Organic Listings showing Google Tag Manager + Google Page Title...?
I'm a bit stumped with this. I optimise all my titles etc for Australia - and now the organic liatings are showing something strange. For example ( we sell health supplements ) Meta title = "My Product , Buy Online Australia" If I type "My Product" - the title in the organic listings says "My Product - My Company Limited" - and the only place I can see it getting that from is a combination of Meta Data used in Google Tag Manager + the Name on my Google places page. This is much more obvious for categories.. but it's a pain in the butt. If I type "My Product Australia" Then the original "My Product , Buy Online Australia" comes up. Any ideas on policy etc? I have taken the "Limited" off the Google business page - so hopefully this will change over time - but I can't find any information on why google would do something like this. If you had shed any light on this - would be much appreciated.

Low on Google ranking despite error-free!?
Hi all, I'm following up on a recent post i've made about our indexing and especially ranking problems in Google: http://moz.com/community/q/seo-impact-classifieds-website Thanks to all good comments we managed to get rid of most of our crawl errors and as a result our high priority /duplicated content decreased from +22k to 270. In short, we created canonical urls, run an xml sitemap, used url parameters in GWT, created h1 and meta description for each ad posted by users etc. I then used google fetch a few times (3 weeks ago and last week) both for desktop and mobile version for re-approval. Nothing really improves in google rankings (all our core keywords are ranked +50)since months now: yet yahoo and bing organic traffic went up and is 3x higher than google's. In the meanwhile we're running paid campagins on facebook and adwords since months already to keep traffic consistent, yet this is eating up our budget, even though our ctr and conversion rates are good. I realize we might have to create more content on-site and through social media, but right now our social media traffic is already around 50% and we are using more of twitter and google+ as well since recently. Our organic traffic is only 14%; with google only a third of that. In the end, I believe this breakdown should look more something like organic 50%-70%, (paid)social,referral and direct traffic. 50%-30%... I can't believe we are hit by a penalty although this looks like it is the case. Especially while yahoo and bing traffic goes up and google does not. Should I wait for a signal once our site is "approved" again through GWT fetch? Or am i missing something that i need to check as well to improve these rankings? Thanks for your help! Internal Duplicate Pages causing dip in rankings
Hi Guys, Need help in understanding whether having duplicate pages on your site push you down in rankings. Our all product pages getting indexed by Google with different parameters i.e. filters, affiliate id, utm_source etc. and then we have 10-15 duplicate for one product page. I am observing dip in rankings whenever Google starts indexing these duplicate but when I asked this question to John Muller and other Google team they said if you set up canonical then you don't have to worry about having different urls for same page but we are not ranking on Google and if we do then we dropped from page 1 to page 2 or sometimes page 3. Pages Titles in SERPs - Wordpress Site
In Google SERPs we have several websites (built in wordpress) who's pages are being displayed without using the page title - is this google ignoring the page title or is there a problem in our code - also if this is google is it still taking notice of the page title to determine what content is on the page?I have read several articles on this but wondered if someone can advise - I can provide the URL if required.Also I wanted to 100% that our robots.txt is behaving its self.

My landing page changed in google's serp. I used to have a product page now I have a pdf?
I have been optimizing this page for a few weeks now and and have seen our page for up from 23rd to 11th on the serp's. I come to work today and not only have I dropped to 15 but I've also had my relevant product page replaced by this page . Not to mention the second page is a pdf! I am not sure what happened here but any advice on how I could fix this would be great. My site is www.mynaturalmarket.com and the keyword I'm working on is Zyflamend.
