Suggestion to Improve Moz's Link Data
-
Hello All.
The recent Index update (29th January) seems to have produced quite a few shocks to Moz Pro users. Index updates always cause panic and joy every time they are released. However, I feel this is a big improvement that could be made.
In this last index, the DA for my site has remained the same. I was expecting a rise, simply because I have been doing some link building since October and was expecting the results to start showing around this time. However, the link metrics for my site looked worse this month than ever before. The index clearly didn't crawl sites and pages that it has crawled the last couple of indexes, and I noticed a few links disappeared from the metrics altogether, links that I know still exist. So I have a suggestion...
If Moz has collected link data in previous indexes, can it not preserve that data rather than starting afresh with every new index. Regular checks could be conducted on existing link data to identify expired or broken links, but to disregard them and start anew with every index seems a little odd. That way, Moz would have much more accurate and comprehensive link data which would help to avoid the DA inaccuracy, and provide users with a better measure of how their site is performing against the rest of the web.
This may be naive because I do not know the technical side to index updates. Any thoughts, advice, suggestions etc would be appreciated.

Hi Trevor!
As it turns out, we do have a cache on our index to help stop valid links from falling out of our view. However, we're not able to guarantee that all links we've previously indexed will be re-indexed within that cache period. So, it can certainly still happen that links will drop out of our index. In general, this helps to promote a stable index, while still preserving freshness and relevance of links that we report on.
As far as metrics like DA and PA go, it's always important to remember that these are relative metrics, rather than absolute. While it always feels good to see them climb higher and higher, a consistent score or even a drop doesn't necessarily mean that there has been no improvement. I'd definitely recommend checking out this post by Rand on ways to consider these metrics: https://moz.com/community/q/da-pa-fluctuations-how-to-interpret-apply-understand-these-ml-based-scores

Moz Pricing Needs Update
Hi I am coming from Ahrefs and Moz plans need serious update about the limits especially rank tracking. Ahrefs is providing more keywords $0.08/keyword (5000 keywords for the advanced plan) and update interval of 3 days. Moz large plan is $0.13/keyword with intervals of 1 week. Can this be looked into? Hopefully Moz can improve the limits for keywords ranking/tracking. In 2020 where many rank tracking tools provide daily update, 1 week is a bit ridiculously long. Hopefully Moz can make some improvement in this area,

Is there a moz tool to optimize original advertorial content?
We are launching a new module that will involve paid advertorial along with unpaid articles. Does Moz have a tool that will help us with optimizing these articles for the English speaking Hong Kong market? We are not interested in optimizing for the US or other markets as people there would not be searching for the content we are producing so the optimization would not be very relevant. Example: https://hongkong.asiaxpat.com/other/263101/guide-to-buying-and-riding-a-motorcycle-in-hong-kong/

Moz is flagging my callto: links as 404s. I "fixed" with tel: & nofollow and lost 2 DA. Help?
I changed the callto: links to tel: links in the footer and nofollowed them and my domain authority dropped 2. I'm assuming this is because we lost 2.8K "external links" Advice on how to remove 404s for Phone#'s without affecting DA? Will just using the tel: format stop Moz from crawling them as 404's? It was adding links to the 404 list that look like this: www.ocp.org/missals/callto:########### I assumed it was because to the crawlers the links looked like relative links this is what our links look like now: <a <span="" class="html-tag">href</a><a <span="" class="html-tag">="</a>tel:###########" rel="nofollow" title="Call us">########### Old footer links: <a <span="" class="html-tag">href</a><a <span="" class="html-tag">="</a>callto:###########" title="Call us">###########

Does seo moz toolbar work in safari? Can I avoid using Chrome or firefox?
I am using a Mac and use Safari for web. I am not very familiar with Google Chrome or Firefox. I started my trial with SEOMoz Pro and want to use it (loved it) but do not want to adapt myself to Google Chrome or Firefox - thus my hesitation. What limitations do I have with SEOMoz Pro in safari - e.g. Moz add-on in the toolbar? What would I be missing if I continue using Safari? I would much appreciate an honest and complete answer so that I can decide whether to use Google Chrome of Firefox. Thank you

External Link Detection Very Slow... why?
Hello. I'm new to MOZ and I'm now comparing it with ahrefs. I can't afford to have an account with all SEO tools that are out there, but I have to start somewhere. I really like MOZ a lot. However, there is one major issue - it updates backlinks every 3 weeks, or what? I registered to ahrefs trial today just to make sure I don't regret in the future that I bought the first service that I tried (MOZ), and I was amazed that ahrefs showed all my website's backlinks straight away. MOZ is saying that next scheduled update for Externals Links is going to be on Sept 14.... emm sorry? My trial will run out by then. It now shows exactly 0. Pricing is nearly the same and in Today's fast paced world ahrefs seems to tick the ever so important backlinks quality box. So here is my question. Dear MOZ, are you going to speed up the backlink data delivery? Are you working on it, or you think it's just ahrefs's gimmick? If you can promise faster speeds, I'll be happy to stay subscribed with MOZ and wait because I like the UX a lot. However, at the end of the day speed is important and if my client requests the latest report, I don't want to tell him that he needs to wait a month for it. Many thanks for reading and I hope to hear back from someone.

Will the Moz Keyword Explorer Tool (which I LOVE BTW) some day allow you to see search result figures broken down by location?
I know this is a long shot, but are there plans to eventually filter keyword volumes by location like the Google AdWords tool does today? Or is that never going to happen? Assuming not, are there other recommended avenues for teasing out keyword volumes of a local vicinity? I work for a health system, so nearly all of our customers are local. So I always feel like I have to guess on words like "urgent care" since obviously I'm not trying to rank nationally, but often people do not use a geo modifier term when searching.

My Q&A links to Q&A Forum
Hi, This is a minor thing, but I just wanted to ask/let the Moz folks know. I just noticed the "My Q&A" link in the profile header (see attached screenshot). When you click the link "My Q&A", it links to the Questions in the Q&A Forum instead of the My Q&A page. Is there a specific reason for this? JPbhTwB.png
